I'm glad she got the role. I don't think anyone could've done Eponine half as well.
She should've been nominated for an oscar. I agree Anne Hathaway is great but she isn't a supporting actress.. even if she is only there for half of the film but Sam Barks did a great justice to Eponine and I'm so happy she get the film role. I just wish she was able to win or even be nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
+Bowtiesammy8 Anthony Hopkins won the supporting actor role for Silence of the lambs and he's only in the film a total of 11 minutes.

Samantha was my first Eponine since my first full experience was the movie. She is the reason why I fell in love with Eponine in the first place, which shows that she is such a wonderful Eponine
I remember this day so well. I remember her before she even started her Eponine days at Queens theatre. She was 19 then. I ran her US fansite, and we because good friends. When she was announced for the movie role, I couldn't be more proud. This video always brings the feelings back. She's the sweetest, and I'm so proud of her and all of her accomplishments. She'll always be a very important person in my life..

It's sad that because of her un-known hollywood status she didn't get nominated for anything. She did a spectacular job in this role. This is just the begining for her
I was so happy she got that role.. She was the best Eponine. She had a connection to that character and brilliant at it. She is so underrated... We need more of her. She is Eponine!! Samantha is so talented and was born to play that role just like Sierra Boggess was born to play Christine Daae.

A person can get blindsided by her dimpled smile. And, as always, the singing.
I wish the movie would've let her belt a bit more, but I guess since it's a movie, there's not as much need to be loud and have her voice travel.
Word on the street is they asked her to tone it down cause it was TOO good. I don't have reliable sources for that though. If I ever dig one up I'll let you know.

Especially since it barely happened at all in the movie! Pretty much everyone else was fame over musical talent, which is why she shined even more so than usual. One of the very few people in the cast one could actually imagine also pulling the role off on Broadway - obviously in her case you don't even need to imagine, since she did it. ^^
I didn't expect it - I thought Hugh or even Anne would be - but Samantha's performance was the high point of that movie for me.
She is such an inspiration
Lovely story of a deserving young lady. Good for Miss Banks. I'm certain she will have a long career ahead of her. I've only seen the film, & thought she was brilliant.

There are some who play the part they're asked to play and others who become the character they're playing. Samantha manages the latter so in the film one believes she is Eponine, not merely playing her.
what i think you mean to say was non of the other actors have a stunning voice life Samantha, watching the movie i dont think you can tell its her first movie i think she should be a contender for the academy award

she was literally perfection in this movie. honestly she made the movie for me. her performance was so real and so honest. i just loved it.
Her live singing is just, phenomenal
got goosebumps all over watching the moment he gave her the role! I saw her do the role in the west end twice and she was epic. Eponine is now me dream role off the back of it. Sam is an inspiration.
Personally Eponine is the character I feel the closest to and Sam really did a wonderful job with her in the film, my hat's off to her. :)
Eponine is my favorite character in Les Mis. When I first heared Sam sing On My Own my heart breaked and I am sooo happy she is in the movie!!

Her waist is impossibly small! And on top of that she wears a belt too. It describes to me, at least, that Eponine tightens her stomach to keep her from feeling hungry

Part of the movie was, to stay true to the graphics and costumes. So good we’re they that the team walked away with best costume and set directions Oscar that year

Acting on camera is very, very different from acting on stage. Samantha Barks was stage before film, so she's obviously not as good as Anne or Hugh or anybody else yet who have had experience in countless other films - but I see great talent and potential (: She is truly wonderful.

I saw a advanced screening yesterday in Sydney,Australia & I can tell you the film is twice as emotional as any live Les Miz performance. Samantha was fabulous but in the cinema I have never witnessed almost the entire Audience bawling (not crying) out loud uncontrollably. The film is fabulous. A warning; if you do not like crying in front of strangers then you should pick a seat away from other people.( & I am very serious). I have already bought my ticket to see it again.
She is so amazing! I wish she was getting more recognition. Her name hasn't been in ANY of the trailers.

Dont worry everybody, I saw the film on Saturday 22/12 in Sydney,Australia & she was brilliant, when she sings "On My Own" it takes your breath away & will make you cry. Her role as Eponine in the film will break your heart several times. She is among a cast of Superstars & she fits in sublimely. By the end of the show all the Audience were a blubbering mess. I am going to sere the movie again on Xmas day. Don't wait for the dvd , it won't have the same effect. This is a unforgettable moviie.
She is my absolute IDOL and has been since the first episode of I'd do anything !!! It told her I love her at the premier and she said Thankyou I could have died right there :O I hope people don't all of a suddenly think they are sams biggest fan because I genuinely love that girl !!

Samantha Barks was wonderful, the cast as a whole really did a great job... I think people will find things they liked and didn't about the movie...that being said, many were concerned Russell Crowe wouldnt do justice to Javert, I can gladly say he did an excellent job. And to have Colm Wilkenson take in the Bishop of Digne after a storied career as the original Jean Valjean on the stage was just perfect and gratifying. We saw a sneak preview on 12/19 and have tickets for a Christmas Eve show
I have the soundtrack and Sam is the bomb! Boy, she brought Eponine to life!
