You need to look after the hybrid battery ventilation more often if you keep a pet inside. Fur can clog up the air holes and you can fry the battery.
It’s also designed to merge dangerously slow and drive 10 mph under the speed limit. I think this was to save fuel.

You’re so positive and fun. Having car problems is never fun, especially with a complicated hybrid. I remember when it was either the battery, spark plugs, or carburetor because that was about all there was on the engine.

Jackery has a jumper cable attachment. My battery in van went dead couple times. Even where I could not get key out. Take 20 min but nice to have. Saved me at camp sight
I’ve used this jumper a few time after I’ve been gone to get my work van running again, it’s been a life saver. Definitely get one of these Nikki
A jumper cable attachment isn't a bad idea, but even just a small manual 12v battery charger to plug into the power station's 120v is fine. Some small (3 to 6 amp) computerized ones don't like charging a totally dead 12v battery.
The 12v battery is not used for starting the engine, it is only used to run the car's electronics, which are not trivial, about 25 to 30 amps of 12v. Most lithium jumper packs struggle to fire up the Prius electronics long enough for the computers to boot and start the engine. They assume that a burst of power is needed for just a second or two, and shut off from jump mode before the Prius finishes booting. Whether the Jackery jumpers for her big Jackery keep power on for long enough, is something to check out, not assume it will work, as it's often a software-determined "feature" rather than just giving you access to the lithium battery's raw DC output terminals.
So a charger is a better idea. Once the 12v battery has enough charge to fire up the electronics, allowing the car to start, then the hybrid system takes over charging the 12v battery at a rapid pace. Again, the hybrid battery, not the 12v battery, starts the engine.

My doggo stepped on a bee and got stung out on our walk last week as well, and I had to carry her home... Nothing like a 20 minute, 60lb racked carry to round out the day 🤣

Now you know why I'm proud to call this great, beautiful state home! Watching this as my dog Jax is trying to catch a fly in the house, "sky raisin" we call it. Looks like Camper caught a "spicy sky raisin"! Glad he seems to be none the worse for wear.

Hi Nikki! As long time road tripper I can say there are definitely worse places to be stranded than my home state of Wisconsin. I like Devil's Lake and the trails there offer alot of great views.

Oh no! I know that Pennsylvania stretch--it's so horrible to drive through waiting for all of what feels like just two rest stops haha! On the bright side finding relief on the side of a mountain has a certain kind of indescribable majesty to it. Camper's so cool and I love how the two of you play together just doing genuine dog fun things. Glad you were able to get the car on its legs again, stay safe!

My son and grandson took our dog up to Devil's Lake to go hiking. We live in Wisconsin. May I ask which harness Camper is wearing? And I was so happy to hear him talk so much throughout the video. He cracks me up.
Used to scuba dive in Devils Lake until the shop there closed down. Pretty boring diving there but only place close to madison

Nikki - I hope you read this message. I think the problem that you are experiencing with your Prius is that the inverter cooling pump may be failing and/or has failed. This causes the inverter to overheat, which will then stop charging the 12v battery. When the inverter cools off, it'll charge again until it overheats, and the cycle repeats.
I live in Sioux Falls South Dakota and I recommend checking out falls park if you are near plus downtown Sioux Falls has some good restaurants. Hope you enjoy South Dakota

The average Toyota has a 20 year/500,000 mile life expectancy with good maintenance a few repairs and a bit of luck. The Prius is a very well made vehicle. I think she would have to do something crazy like put 1 million miles on it for Toyota to take any notice.

Hey, I watched this video the other day. I sorta wondered just now why your car may have died. Then I had a thought. Do you think that it may be due to using your interior lights too often, possibly even too long? Using those lights a lot can drain your cars battery. This could be just a battery issue. I highly recommend getting a separate source of lighting!! Just a little separate battery powered light, it doesn’t need to be extravagant. So you can avoid this potential issue!
It's so nice to see you back on the road again, not like you left for something else because Europe was also on the road. Did you try checking your key fob battery?

I've had a lot of similar problems with. a 2007 prius that (so far) have always been resolved with a new 12V battery (even if the battery tested ok) -- I've gone through like three so far....

One thing that always strikes me in the states is everyone is so gosh darn helpful. I know in my own country if you break down, no one is stopping, no one is going to help, no one is going to ask if you need help, same in the country I moved to. I remember being in Florida, we got lost once and had three different people stop to help us, I'd never seen anything like it in my life.
So much in one day! Reminds me that I should carry some sort first aid kit on any hike with a dog. Did he cry out when he got big?

Where I live in north Florida, near the Apalachicola Forest, those turkey vultures can get really big. They're good for cleaning up roadkill, though! 🤣

Well I have known a few w9omen who car camp and they have dogs, one in particular who bought a puppy a year or so back and it grew and grew and now she shares her car with a St Bernard, who last time I saw her and him, was a big softy. She has even trained him to go to shopping and is happy to carry some of the load in his saddlebags. Cheers Nikki for sharing Campers swimming techniques and wow don't you look great in a bikini !!!

I have a Prius, but it's impossible for me to sleep in.
On mine, I ran i to the dead Aux battery too! With absolutely no warning. Replaced it with a new & better battery. My next plan is to add a second battery on the left side which is hollow; er... marine style with a battery isolator, & batt. Selector switch; which allows both batteries to run in parallel, on either by itself.

What year is your Prius and how many miles does it have? I just got my 2009 3 weeks ago with 99k miles. The only thing I'm having to get used to is the weird gas bladder. lol Other than that it's been great. I'm also a full time courier so I've already put a few thousand miles on it.
I have a 2015 Prius with 230,000. Never had 1 single problem. I bought it brand new July 2015.
