This is the first mk tutorial series I've seen that doesn't just talk talk talk a bunch of terms at you, but actually translates them into something meaningful for someone learning. Thank you for putting this together
PNDKetchup You two have the BEST, most COMPREHENSIVE, (Not too mention VERY well put together) Video's detailing the VAST "In's and Out's" of Mortal Kombat X! I've very much enjoyed watching and have learned a lot! Thanks so much for doing these! :) You guys lost seem like very kind, gracious, and just overall Cool dudes! :) In addition to these videos, I've enjoyed watching some interviews done with you guys and various EVO events, etc, etc...) Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to a Tournament event here soon, and root for you two! (I would never play! LOL! But just enjoy watching extremely talented MKX players!) Thanks again lads! Keep up the great work, and I wish you all the best in Tournament, and future endeavors! Cheers! Curtis P.
I just got into fighting games bcoz of mk11's tutorial and have been learning the past month...but GOD no material on the internet even comes close to these guides. This is AMAZING thank you!
Dude.... These are so fucking helpful. Im also training to start getting into those esl tournaments and going to majors. Im already a pretty good player but i never learned or really even knew about these fundamentals and these are opening my eyes at the perfect time. Thanks you guys and keep posting your wisdom of Mk because my eyes are glued!!
Woah! You blew my mind with the simple AI options recommendations. This has totally changed the way I approach training. How did I ever live without this? Again, thank you!
Yo this whole series is sick! Run cancelling is one of the aspects of the game I've really struggled with and your method of explaining the mechanics of the run cancel made it much easier to understand, and consequently perform successfully, than that from anything I'd read or watched previously. Thanks a ton for making these videos and I can't wait to see more!
Another good video. Run-cancelling is probably the thing I need to work on the most as well as combos with any character not named Predator. But I still have one more video to watch so I'll see what else I need to work on.
So that's why all these players like to d3, d4 between specials & combos...!! I've always found it so irritating to play against cuz like you said when you're caught in it you can't do anything to get out. Looking forward to the defense video!!
I have a feeling ex throws will be good with triborg, he also seems to have quite fast recoveries so a lot of plus options, so he's probably gonna be quite good for rush down
What's up K&M? Just brushing up on my game with some informative vids, namely yours. Your counter poking section of this video was hilliarious to me as I was made victim earlier to a Buzzsaw Lao employing the same tech, only difference was that I was playing Goro (Tigrar Fury). Just had to comment on this lol. Keep bestowing wisdom guys, scholars of MK
whats that scorpion costume :o rly helpfull series btw i started with the mk scene 5 days ago and im playing mileena these vids have been helping a lot :P
This is totally beyond my current understanding and capabilities. I’m still trying to learn the moves and now your telling me to cancel them?!!! Lol great videos though, I was just watching a tournament where it was sonicfox and ketchup And like wait! Ketchup ketchup!! I’m watching his casual to competitive series!!
What's up K&M? I have to say that your tutorials are amazing! I'm really understanding so many things with these tutorials. The one thing that is giving me problems is the Run Cancel thing, I play Kenshi and I'm trying to do a 114 + Run Cancel + B1 but it seems that I have to wait until he finish the 114 to beging running, but if I do that, is too late to reach the opponent and I miss the B1 (thé opponent is already on the ground) Is there something you can tell me to do it correctly? Thank you so much guys for sharing your knowledge with us!
I've been watching this small series and it's been really helpful however I feel like you missed a chapter early on. It would be nice if you could go through the actual Frame Data and explain what it all means and how we can put it to good use as well as covering what Lows, Mids, Highs and Overheads mean (Highs can be ducked etc).
Wassup k&m. I've went back to mkx I put so much effort into mortal Kombat 11 & X, but I feel like im just not at a pro level it sucks to feel that way when you put so much time into something.. any advice?
While rushing down i tend to press multiple buttons even though i went past that button mashing How to press buttons effectively? Like for example: Sub zero’s F42 + DBF3 i end but messing the last part completely. How to stop that i have tried nearly everything.
Sorry for the late response, but the only advice anyone can give in that situation is simply DON'T miss the button inputs. I mean the only way to get the moves to come out is to do their respective button commands. You just need to take the time to accurately press them, regardless of if it seems like the move will come out, or it doesn't "feel" right. Make sure your button inputs are showing, and attempt the combo a few times. If your button inputs have extra buttons, try again. If the inputs are correct, but it's still missing, then your timing isn't right.
@@thunderbeast147 Glad to hear man! MKX sure is a weird game for some combo's input timings though, gotta admit that. It's almost like the developer's were like, "No, no...we already USED that timing, on one of Kung Lao's combos, so let's make this other one STUPID weird and hard to figure out" hahaha
Ok this was really helpful because it explained a lot of those terms I'm just expected to know when I look at other "tutorials". I do have one question, maybe you can do something brief in the last video or just make a small separate one: what is tick throwing? I play Kano and I always hear "You gotta tick throw, tick throw!" and I have no idea what the heck that is or how to do it. People explain it to me online, if I'm lucky, but it still doesn't make sense. Any help?
briann "Tech" Throw. like "Technique" means to hit 1, 2, 3, or 4 during the start-up of the enemies throw, to break it and avoid the damage. You have to let go of block for it to work. There are two types of throws. Forward and Backward. I'm still not sure about how MKX is set up, but MK9 I believe 1 and 3 "Tech" forwards throws. 2 and 4 "Tech"Backward throws.
briann they mean to throw instead of finishing a block string. instead of finishing the full hits replace the last one with a throw. i don't know kanos moves but as an example instead of doing say 222 you would just do 22 then throw instead of finishing the combo.
When you run cancel, do you have to time the run out of the special move or if you press the special move then do the run instantaneously will it always work, even if the move hasn't started yet?
Q for Ketchup; Do you hit confirm Quan's b2 into trance? I think its well hard to confirm that as the inputs need to be so quick and close together to get the b2 to move into trance. I was watching the stream and I could swear you said you tried to hit confirm that string. Thanks, dude x
You'll probably never see this comment because the video is so old but do you use the left analog stick or d-pad? I've always thought the d-pad was better due to the inputs being more precise but it seems that using the stick allows for directional inputs to be faster.
Use the Record function in the AI options and record yourself doing the EX Air Kano Ball a few times(Give yourself 5 seconds between each Ball attack!) Then set the AI to Playback. Make sure to check which area the Ball hits you as well!
IrishBartx because the low hat that he did before put him at minus frames. So Lao would need a 2 frame stranding 1 to beat Ferra tor . Due to the minus frames. It means you have to edit that amount of frames before you can do ANYTHING. If Lao tried to do his standing 1 when at minus 6 due to the low hat. Lao would only be 2 frames though his attack while ferra tor would have completed his. Lao starts at -6 while ferra starts at 0. So if they both attack then . Ferra would win
Julio Ramirez No, as nothing Quan has in any variation can be cancelled out of. You can run cancel mid combo for some juggle opportunities, but not in the sense that Hellfire Scorpion or Swarm Queen D'vorah run cancel. - Ketchup
Those with little block adv. for example if your opponent uses hit or a combo with 10 fps and he blocks you hit with -20 fps your hit will be unsafe and you will be punished, but if you use hit with -10 or less the hit will be safe and you will be able to block his combo starter. :-)
Many thanks, these tutorials on techniques are really informative, i've gained so much knowledge by just watching your videos repeatedly. But to be quite honest, it's hard to get better at this game with the kind of people that play online (PS4). I hardly get the chance to play a beautiful match because these guys don't give you the chance to apply these techniques, they constantly spam and play dirty - they keep uppercutting and x-raying. The worst part is the deliberate trash-talking which you can't even mute. Do you guys by of any chance know how to mute these motherf#@*ers? lol

Underrated videos for sure, you guys are amazing 👍
Extremely helpful! Thank you! Please try and do dualist Liu kang soon really intrested in see you guys play it!
AWESOME video, helped quite a lot, you are literally adressing exactly the points i have been very unsure about :) THANKS A LOT for this series :D
Thanks for making these videos, they really helped me improve my game a lot!!!
A very good explanation Ketchup thank you!!
Thanks for these videos
You guys are awesome!! Thank you
This is some experienced stuff I love it
Thank you kanye very cool
guys your videos are real good...keep it up, yo make me love this game more
Perfect! Very well explained.
I wish i was good at this video game😪
Great Vid guys I;m gonna use these tips and practice the hell out of them.
This is great stuff. Thank you!
I know this game is three years old. But I learned now lol. Plus I started this game in 2017
Great lesson! Now i know why ppl keep jabbing me with that ennoying down 4! And now im going to do it too :P
Thanks!
Great video!
you guys are class
Great tutorial
I learned a lot thanks guys
It's surprising you guys didn't include offence on wake-up in "Rush down" section, but i guess it'll be in the "defence" one.

It's all in the pipeline my friend!

Guys I am really having trouble with counter poking, like I know combos and I practiced them but this episode I seem to not nail down those technics
Can Sub Zero have his Ice Ball run cancelled?
Same question with Shinnok's amulet beam
When you run cancel, do you have to time the run out of the special move or if you press the special move then do the run instantaneously will it always work, even if the move hasn't started yet?

***** It's impossible to hitconfirm a single hit, B2 into trance must be committed to.

PNDKetchup its possible u can os b2xxtrance on hit it connects on block u get just b2
***** You can always use the option select

Sweet thanks man! TheGonzaGaming
What can you do against someone that frame-traps? Sometimes I play against people who just keep on attacking and I can't do anything..
Hey I hear an stick what do you have your buttons config for this game to? I have trouble playing because of the block and run buttons,
I always blank out on this stuff in games. I just spam specials too much. I guess Kenshi sort of provokes me into doing that lol
You'll probably never see this comment because the video is so old but do you use the left analog stick or d-pad? I've always thought the d-pad was better due to the inputs being more precise but it seems that using the stick allows for directional inputs to be faster.

In counterpicking section, how does Ferra/Torr win with 9 frame standing 1 but you have a 8 frame standing, shouldn't you win?
IrishBartx because the low hat that he did before put him at minus frames. So Lao would need a 2 frame stranding 1 to beat Ferra tor . Due to the minus frames. Do rank play matches wit quan chi !
You did well in the fatal 8 tournament but sonic fox was at a completely different level. He won 5-0 in the final so I wouldn't fell so bad
rip kung lao armor ;c
