- Tim McIlrath of Rise Against dropped by at the ROCK ANTENNE studios and gave an intimate unplugged performance of the Rise Against Classics "Hero of War", "Swing Life Away" and "People Live Here" - and a world premiere on top: the first ever acoustic performance of their new single "The Violence", out on the album "Wolves" on June 9.

Rise Against should really release an acoustic album!
Fans could make one, they've played so many acoustic versions over the year that the album would be at least 1 hour long. But yeah, I agree, RA sounds great on a guitar and voice, I usually learn their songs and make acoustic versions out of them.

Hero of War is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. This version is even more beautiful.
It is, but what kinda gets me in the people smiling while singing along to it. Yes it is a beautiful song, but sad as hell. Maybe it's my lived experience of knowing people with ptsd and others people in the military, I feel I can't smile singing along with this song. It's more of trying not to get choked up.
@@jasondelorey5552 I guess that happens when you just don't understand the words (cause you're a foreigner?). On the other hand there is a video showing some US soldiers in bunker, in Afghanistan who are singing this and also goofing around. Then you know, some people are just douches more than others...

I think rise against was the loudest voice of the dying collective rational mind. I long for the rage fueled optimism that we could win just by resisting peacefully but passionately.

Had the pleasure of meeting the band at speakers corner. Hyde park and Tim performed this set except Ever-changing in for violence. It was an incredible experience!

This video breaks all the remaining doubts I've had about Tim performing live. In most videos out there from live concerts Tim's voice sounds pretty flipping bad. In this one, however, he's a god. Tim, may you be around for a long time to entertain and give us goosebumps with your splendid voice. Keep up the good work, buddy.
