Love your lil doggo just randomly popping in and out of the awning 😂 very cute 🐶
What an awesome awning!! We've just got one from our friends but think would definitely buy one! Cheers for sharing 👍
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel 🙏
I bought one last week as well. Very good value I have to say.
Looks great, thanks for the review.
Thank you for posting this Charlie, I am very tempted to buy one.
They are excellent value for money. I am very impressed with it.
Just used it for the first time, everything was good but for untidy flapping at the front when door is closed , also the side at the bottom just couldn't peg it out neatly 😩
That looks quite a good buy Charlie, thanks for sharing 👍..
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. 👍
Hi, please can you tell me if we can use this awning on a campervan also does it attach to the van by a kador strip, many thanks😊
Well I never is there nothing that dear old Aldi don't sell ☺️
Good job, been waiting for a decent review of this. Thanks 👍 just wondering what it comes with to connect it to the caravan at the top please? Does ot have any straps to throw over or points on the awning to connect straps to please? I don't have a keder rail to slide it into unfortunately
It only has the usual awning rail slide on attachment. The 2 sides that effectively press against the caravan only have velcro straps to hold poles in place. Poles are not supplied with the awning.
@@caravanningwithcharlie thanks, that's a pain, will have to think of another option!
I'm considering these :
ALNIYATX Caravan Awning Limpets 8 Pack High-Grip Suction Cups 45 mm Plastic Clear Pad Kit for RV Motorhome Camper Side Canopy Fixing Accessories (8Pcs) amzn.eu/d/2GHbyk9
Just to complete the loop - I've bought one and it does have some plastic o rings sewn along under the kador strip so you can easily.attsch throw over straps 👍
£123 squids is excellent :)
It's great value isn't it 👌
Will it fit a motorhome with a fiamma wind out canopy!
hi,
this is a great light weight awning, just used it this weekend.
i noticed there is 2 brass rings on the front flap, is there any way of using these to hold up the front flap like a canopy
You may be able to buy some tent canopy poles, something like this....
Shoze 2PCS Tent Poles Camping Poles Adjustable Telescoping Tent Poles Aluminum Camping Tarp 90-230CM for Tarp Awning Canopy Porch Sun Sails amzn.eu/d/4Y2McUI
Hi, thanks for the great review. Can I ask if there are eyelets on the sides where it sits against the van please, (so that I can secure with limpets?). Or can limpets be used without eyelets? (Awning and limpet newbie here!)
Thank you for your comments. There are no eyelets, only velcro straps to hold poles. There are tools out there to put your own eyelets in but this would need more investigation.
@@caravanningwithcharlie thankyou for the info...much appreciated
It looks great value , do you think it’s suitable for a camper van too ? It doesn’t say do on the Aldi site.
Hi John. I'm not 100% sure tbh. It may do with the correct type of attachment, but this would need more research. My experience is only limited to touring caravans.
The height may be an issue - if your campervan is the same height as a caravan then you should be okay but smaller campervans tend to be about 2m High and this is about a foot higher.
I have one of those awnings from aldi. How have you secured the sides to the van mine just flap even with poles there.
Many thanks
Carl
Hi Carl. I didn't secure the sides with anything on this occasion. I was considering buying something like this though: ALNIYATX Caravan Awning Limpets 8 Pack High-Grip Suction Cups 45 mm Plastic Clear Pad Kit for RV Motorhome Camper Side Canopy Fixing Accessories (8Pcs) amzn.eu/d/2GHbyk9
just what i need. something entry level. i know what i want eventually but dont wNt to splash cash witnout testing tbe entry level need first.
I have some limpets but I couldn't get them work properly it would be helpful if you could do a video showing as I have only been caravaning for a year now so still pretty new to it
We've got this. Great awning, great price! Do you know what's the purpose of the velcro straps (2 each side) attached to the padded 'pillars' that sit against the caravan? We just can't work it out! TIA
The velcro is to hold poles in place.
@@caravanningwithcharlie Thanks we're still learning 😁
A question for you to answer, if you'd be so kind. I bought a secondhand one of these for my old T4 campervan [which is now extremely poorly and can't be used]. As a stopgap, I've got an OLD [1992] 340/2 little caravan. I'm wondering if I might be able to attach the awning to the caravan.
Obviously (!), the caravan is aluminium, so my magnetic strip feeder won't work. Is there anywhere at the top where I could attach cord/rope to it, to tie the top down to the other side of the caravan? If not, I'll sell it!
I'm not too familiar with the caravan you have. If its the Compass 340/2 I believe it has a traditional awning rail as most caravans do. You should be able to attach this awning to that rail.
I'll have a go, then [have never owned a caravan before]. Much obliged to you!@@caravanningwithcharlie
Hope you weren’t too disappointed when you got to North Wales and found out the Coronation was in London 😉
Did I miss the memo? I never thought Royal thing was in Wales. Why would it be? I don't even follow the Royals in any way and even I knew what ever was happening was happening in London. This probably sounds dumb, but both Wales and Scotland are part of England right? Is Northern Ireland still part of the Empire?
The clue is in the name. United Kingdom. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all individual countries that belong to the United Kingdom. King Charles III is the monarch who resides over all of these countries. Believe it or not the UK does not just consist of London.
@@caravanningwithcharlie Thanks. That's what I thought. He resides over the entire Commonwealth, to which obscure places like Belize, PNG AND Fiji are a part of! Betcha didn't know that!
Now £134 including delivery, I still bought it.
Still a good price 👌
How did you connect it to the caravan the two sides?? Found that to be a failing
I didn't connect it. Just pegged it down so the sides were as close as possible. I believe you can get some poles if you wish, to encourage a tighter fit. I have found it fine without them. However I only use the awning in good weather conditions. I don't think it would fair well in strong winds.
We had one, great awning but there was a flaw in the material and developed 2 small holes. Aldi were fantastic and gave a full refund as they'd stopped selling them.
Hi
Is it the 7ft by 7ft one ?
Yes it is
Down to £80 now. Bargain.
You do realise you set the awning up to high, right? The bottom flaps are supposed to be ON the ground and the pegs go through the rings at each corner.
Hi Charlie,
After buying one of these after your review I find myself very disappointed.
I'm certainly not blaming you for this Charlie, let me make that very clear to everyone.
So, I bought it (check my last post on here and it can be seen when I purchased it), this awning has serious defects after only 5 days of use on it's first outing, the main tube covering fabric is severely frayed in 2 places, so far i have not been able to ascertain why this has occured as the main tube is not in close proximity to anything likely to cause abrasion to the surface material.
I'm in touch with Aldi warranty department, that is not going very well either as the warranty aspect is handled by an organisation\company called StreetWise, and they have been abysmally poor to deal with, so much so that I have reverted to Aldi customer services direct and asked them to deal with the matter as sellers of the product, my contract is with Aldi and not StreetWise who I have very much lost faith in.
I hope I am in the minority but I cannot recommend this awning to anyone.
I'm sorry to hear that your awning is not satisfactory. That's a real shame. I've used ours now about 4 times and it has performed really well each time. I hope Aldi resolve your issue soon.
