    I bought mine about a year ago & was amazed that it made a difference when toasting 2 slices, but, I didn't change the setting from 4 slices, came out much darker, also I find that the frozen pizza's taste much better than any of the other methods I've used to cook them, best toaster oven I've ever owned...

    I just wanted to add, you sound EXACTLY how every Breville Smart oven owner sounds. It will amaze you. Nothing like them. I suggest making your own pizzas. We try to have very little bread and actually use flour tortillas, so it's really thin pizza. Sometimes flatbreads or like a boboli. Of course if you want to make your own dough too, by all means. I suggest you always get the "perforated pizza pan" they sell to prevent any accidents. It gets the heat on the bottom as good as just on the rack.

    Hi Johnny, Nothing beats home made bread and rolls, I use the oven your reviewing for just that...
    If ya getting excited over just a piece of toast, take your fav cheese stick that on ya toast, trus me you will never be the same again....
    Frozen pizza ??? Seriously???
    Ok that one dont look too bad BUT...
    lemme spell it out for you:
    Flour water yeast sugar and salt...
    Theres ya base... the topings are whatever your heart desires...
    I used to be like you 2 years ago... then I made my first pizza base included...
    NEVER had a frozen pizza since.
    If you Plan your dough right, you will have superb pizza anytime you want, my prep time is around 10 min, with a cookin time of 18.
    Not a bagel fan but gotta tell those looked nice.
    Thank you for including the model number.

    So..... just read the manual, and set up my Breville Smart Oven Air... and made some toast using bagels. My inaugural use of the oven... Wow! I didn't believe it when John Sanders was raving about the toast, but it is great! Crispy on the outside, and soft, moist, warm on the inside! My bagels were slightly stale, too... but this made it taste like fresh baked. Really good. Currently, I've got some previously steamed potato pieces air frying in it.... Probably will be great, too. :-)

      @@JohnSanders The thing takes up a lot of counter space, but since I have put away my slow cooker and my toaster as well as my small toaster oven (piece of garbage, anyway), I've actually got MORE counter space now which is very nice.
      I tried cooking some frozen pizza tonight. It was very good, except this was thin crust pizza and it got a bit overdone just on the outside of the crust. So next time instead of 375 degrees for 18 minutes (factory preset is 375 for 20 min's), I'll try 350 for 20 and check it around 16 min's or so.
      Rotating the pizza worked well, and I can see how there is a bit of a hotter area in the rear left of this oven (which I've heard other owners of this oven say as well).
      Cheers.

    John; enjoy you videos for the content and the presentations.
    I was wondering about adding a “pizza stone” as additional thermal mass to help even out the heating cycles. (Not just for pizaa, btw)
    Also, with a toaster oven or something like this a small, smart oven; they really can lower energy bills as unless you’re family is large or your all big eaters, using a smaller oven is like the business idea of “right-sizing” the asset, using the appropriate size tool for the job. Why heat up a big oven for a small item?
    Lastly, I don’t think you just shake off the crumb mat in your home kitchen like you can with your outdoor kitchen? ;)

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  5 років тому +1

      I totally agree, we cooked potatoes in the Breville last night...perfect in the same amount of time!! And the pizza stone is a good idea, I have had one in my big oven for years and it retains heat for hours after it is turned off and will keep a steady warm temp for left overs etc. Thanks for watching!

    Just got the Ninja Foodi, and it seem like it can cook a full batch evenly, but one or a few pieces are terribly uneven! Stinks that this one is uneven too. I had a $70 toaster oven in college I'll have to try and repair. It's more even than this or any other I've tried.

    I want to upgrade my current air fryer so I’ve been watching your videos to compare my 2 top choices…. Breville the smart oven air fryer pro and the Ninja foodi 10-in-1 smart XL pro air fry oven.
    But I really need your advice. Which one is less messy? And which one is hardest to keep clean like brand new? It appears that the Breville causes more grease to get everywhere but I couldn’t find much videos focusing on the mess. But Breville has more cooking functions.
    But thanks for the tip on the crumb tray slip mat.

    • @mamadouaziza2536
      @mamadouaziza2536 Рік тому

      Go with the Foodi, the one that comes with the meat thermometer. The Foodi is larger and has many hidden features that rivals this Breville... The Breville has a nonstick interior and you can use the convection fan (both speeds) on all the cooking modes.
      The Foodi' convection fan can also be used on various modes. Remember: 'Air Fry' mode is simply the same as the 'Convection' mode but the fan spins at a slightly higher RPM..
      You can easily trick ovens that only have a 'Convection' mode that only has one fan speed into being an air fryer by increasing the temp and shorting the time.

    My heart sank when I unboxed and tried finding a permanent place in my kitchen for this behemoth of a toaster oven/air fryer. It's far bigger and heavier then I realized. No space was big enough on my counter tops and my current full sized microwave stand is way to small with a top shelf of 25" by 16" This model of Breville ovens foot print is 26" by 18". This is the largest small appliance oven by a large margin and is bigger than any full sized counter top microwave. Apparently my local retailer got a lot of returns on this particular oven not because it was junk but just by it's super massive size.

    If you cannot air fry foods that drip, foods like wings that drip fat would have to be air fried on the broiler pan. How do they evenly crisp if there is no air circulating below them? This is the one thing holding me back from buying the Breville smart air. Thanks for the great review John.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  3 роки тому +1

      I have used a silicon pad but I hear Breville does not approve... so I guess the pan beneath the wire mesh rack is the only option... maybe a rack or 2 below... but that might somewhat hinder air flow also... I will say the wings i have done in it were crispy... hope this helps and I'm glad you enjoyed the video... thank you for watching!!!

    Hey John! I initially wrote off this toaster as too expensive but after your review I am seriously considering it again. I have a couple questions: About the liner, where did you get yours? All the reviews for the ones on Amazon include some that claim that they failed and destroyed the crumb tray. I'm wondering if aluminum foil would just be better. Also, does the oven get hot around the sides and back? I'm wondering how much space I need to keep things safe. Thanks!

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  5 років тому +1

      I purchased mine at a yard sale and I don't use it all the time but I guess aluminium foil would work but I only use something when I'm worried about something dripping...the sides and top do get warm but it does not seem to discharge as much hot air as some of my other air fryers but I would follow their instruction manual for minimal clearance...thanks for watching!!
