Wow. Never seen a coupe with the 428 and I've seen a lot of these cars, I had a 68 fastback 428, I ordered a new 69 Mach 1 with the 428 Cobra jet and drag pack Acapulco Blue for speed of course, And then I got a 69 Boss 429 which was the first car sold to the public I was told,
Beautiful original condition car, would like to hear more of the backstory on this car in your next video. Even today when everyone knows what a GT500KR is, many outside the hobby are unfamiliar with it's sleeper cousin - the 68 1/2 GT. It's great that we now have Marti reports available.
I've Always Loved the Fastback Mustangs of 65-68, i Always said the Only Coupe i would ever Love to own would be one of these 68 1/2 428 Cobra Jets, but i just found out how Few of these Ford made, Thanks for the Production Numbers. I guess I'll just have to keep Dreaming of Owning one of these FE Cobra Jets. Very nice Car, So Rare.
We agree and really appreciate your comment. We love the fastback as well, and we also feel like these 68.5 Cobra Jet Coupes are a piece of muscle car history. This car exemplifies a time in automotive history in the late 60’s when manufacturers were doing what they could to stuff large displacement engines in small cars to out perform other brands. Thanks for watching !!
A guy down the street had a 68 hardtop. He had to hoist the engine to change one of the spark plugs. I don't think it had those split exhausts and it definitely didn't have chrome valve covers. That thing also sounds like it has a cam. I'd still take that car in a New York minute! My friends care was a total sleeper! If your care were mine, I bring it back to showroom stock.
Very nice, rare CJ. I just acquired a 68.5 Coop 428 Cobra Jet GT. Red on Red, 4 speed, 430 rear end. All original from carb to oil pan, even has the starter delay. These car are so amazing! Marti report says that this is one of two! Cheers!
A CJ with a 4.30 is a unique driving experience. It’s fun cruising around town in second with that big 428 Cobra Jet rumbling loudly. However, the car is designed to be shifted into fourth quickly and driven hard on an open roadway since dragstrips are becoming as rare as the car. The subject car is very unique with the custom interior option but why pick the ugliest color combo available? Even so, this car would sell for at least 250K.
@policeofficer94 Thanks for the comment. Most people don’t know that the tach was an option on R code 428 Cobra Jet GT Mustangs in 68. The tach was not standard. Similarly, most people don’t know that a posi rear was not standard on a 1970 Chevelle SS 396. If you didn’t pay extra for the posi, you got a one wheel wonder. Thanks for watching !!
Thanks for watching, but completely 1,000% wrong. CJ did not come with a tach standard. Anyone who tells you different is uninformed. Sometimes I wonder where people get the wrong information and spread it with conviction as if they’re correct.

WOW
Always loved this coupe model, my old neighbor had one, same colour!
What a beast!!!!!!
It's*color*.

Wow that's a very special mustang I would appsulotly love to have that one 😍
Amazing car can't wait to see a better reveal I'll be waiting.
Wow what a awesome Mustang. That's definitely a bucket list car right there. Can't even imagine what it's worth in original condition.

Congratulations on your Cobra Jet find. 4.30 diff with a 4 speed must be a beast. Thanks for watching !

Rare car, here!

Amazing car, definitely a thumbs up 👍
The GM 396 was actually a 402. Insurance rates skyrocketed above 400 cu in so GM “cheated”
Bring back turbo the dog!
Will do. Turbo is ready for his next cameo !! Thanks for watching !!
Interesting. No factory tach. Hmmm. Weren’t the CJ cars GT 390 cars? Disc brakes. Heavier suspension. Stiffer springs. Reinforced shock towers. Power steering. At minimum 6k RPM Tach with potential 8k RPM optional? Hmmmm

@@roadtesttv "Posi" is a General Mayhem term. Please use "Traction Lok" when in the Ford world. Thank you.
@@413x398 You got it. Thanks for watching !
@@roadtesttv What happened to this car?
Tachs only came with 4 speed cars. If you bought an automatic they were optional.
No factory tach. Not an original CJ car

Uninformed eh? Well, I had one in 68.5 and it came with a tach. That is the real PROOF, not someone having an opinion. stop the madness
Leave it in the garage lol
