Great car with a great history. Excellent condition, not to mention 428' music. Always nice to see the onboard camera at the end. Fine Ford jacket, too!
Very few R Code coupes since statistically the.fastback was the preferred body style. That was the case in ‘68 as it is today. All cars on this site are for sale by the fairest Mustang dealer in the country.
Really nice color combination. I have an early 68 GT fastback in the same Royal Maroon and gold c-stripe with black deluxe interior, bench front seat with the comfort weave vinyl and the convenience package, but none of the documents that you are fortunate to have. Will really add to its value.
The reason the coupes are so rare is that most everybody preferred the fastback. However, anyone that owns a 68 1/2 GT, which was the first Mustang to feature the 428 CJ, garages a very special car. Ours is in Wimbldeon White with Black Standard Interior, 4.30 Gear Ratio and Non-Reflective Black C-Stripes. What engine beats the sound of a properly tuned CJ with a factory exhaust system?
@@Doctorj63 While the ads at the time refer to the mid year (April) introduction of the new 428 Cobra Jet, I think the common use of 68 1/2 and 68.5 in referring to this Mustang came about later and wasn't identified as a separate model in Ford literature. In other words, it was an available half year option with the GT package being the mandatory base.
@@Doctorj63 You're welcome. As the 428CJ became available mid year, Shelby Gt500s (which came with 428 Police Interceptors) were replaced by the GT500KRs which had the new 428CJs - now those were separate models. Hope this helps.
Something doesn't seem correct. With 4.30 gears, the car should be turning a lot more rpm at 60-70 miles an hour , in fourth gear, than the tach was showing. My car with 3.73 turns 3,000 rpms, in fourth, at 60. Those rpms seemed more like 3.25 rear gears.

Count your blessings! That is a very rare mustang ! My buddy had a 68 coupe witha 390 gt 4 speed from factory

I really like the 428 it must be fast
With a 4:30 gear I'd be doing alot of in town driving!!!
Great car, how much ?
Wow, impressive
20 years ago, what could you buy this car for? Estimated amount.
25-30k now 250k
👍 Awesome!
24000 drag stripe miles
Not SCJ, the horns are on each side and no oil cooler. It sounds good.
The SCJ didn’t come out til 69. This is the precursor to the SCJ especially with the factory 4.30.
What kind of times did it run in a forth mile how much money
I would think that the engine is a SCJ Lemans rods, 1UA crankshaft, oil cooler because of 4:30 gear
The super cobra jet was not out then.
🇺🇸
Original tires?
How much the price brother?
Where do you sell these cars?

If you’re gonna move the gd camera, make it count. Don’t just swing it around. Jesus

15-18 k
Did that model suppose to have pony seats??????
No
Never ever heard of such a thing as a 1968.5 Mustang......Would be interested to see any official documentation of such a beast......
All R code 68's were considered sixty eight and a halves.
@@JohnLee-hw2jr I understand in common vernacular they could be referred to as 1968.5 but did Ford ever officially list them as such?
