I love Bal d'Afrique and Mojave Ghost. I think that Byredo has really beautiful and unusual scent without being too challenging to wear. Rose of no man's land is a really beautiful rose scent. Nothing really new here and some people would find it boring but to me it is hard to find the perfect simple rose scent and this one is so close. This is my favourite rose scent with Rose Kabuki from Dior.
So glad I came across your channel. You're an absolute breath of fresh air in the fragrance review community. Heck, you could be discussing the fundamentals of drying paint and I would still watch 'till the end. Thank you for another informative review...
Byredo is one of my favorite houses. I own Mojave Ghost, elevator music, and Bal Dafrique. Bal dafrique is my favorite, but the other two are also really good.
Thank you! Rose of No Man's Land is so great. Eleventh Hour just doesn't sit well on my skin I'm afraid too much eugenol-like spiciness for my taste but glad you enjoy it.
This is the most thorough and enjoyable review of the Byredo brand that I've seen on here - wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I have Gypsy Water, Mojave Ghost, Bibliotheque and Pulp and they're all excellent. I've been eyeing Velvet Haze for a little while and think I'm going to go for it soon! Keep up the great videos. :) Definitely subscribed!
Thank you Marisa for the kind comment, I really appreciate it :) I very much enjoyed putting this video together, Byredo is one of my favorite perfume brands and I feel should be talked more about! You have some great perfumes in your collection I see ;) Have a great Sunday!
Thank you for lovely review. My first Byredo purchase was La Tulipe. I got it in the heart of winter and it waited patiently until early April, tulip month here up North, to wear it. Its absolutely beautiful damp mossy true tulipe resemblance with meaty leafy quality. I really love tulipes so needless to say, its such a joy to wear. The next purchase will be the Byredo unnamed fragrance thats I think my no 2 fave from them, very unusual beauty. I like also Bal d'Afrique and Bibliotheque, but only once I've got my hands on unnamed :).
I feel so much in super cedar, even it's not correlate with the name! I can not understand, but this tender soft sence of peaceful atmosphere hugs me when i wear it! Can you feel this kind of sence in it? Thank you for your great work!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Byredo Blanche with the florals I have never in my life smelled a fragrance like it by far the cleanest fresh deep breath of fresh air scent I have been searching for a clean fresh fragrance for years and that is definitely it. Thank you for this review.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this video, really appreciate it. I didn't mention Blanche as I didn't have a sample with me at hand. After what you wrote I will need to try it again! Thanks :)
I really enjoy Bal D'Afrique i don't have a bottle yet because i last read on fragnatica that it had performance issues. That being said i do have the lotion which is very nice to wear after a shave.
I think it varies from person to person. In general Byredo fragrances are not the best performing in terms of longevity but there are some that do last quite some time. Bal d'Afrique on my skin has a really good performance but I guess it helps to moisturise beforehand too. If you were to layer your body lotion with the fragrance that would help make it last longer :D
I just got a sample of Bal D’Afrique and to me it smells exactly like freshly laundered towels in luxury five star hotel bathrooms. It’s got some zing and zest, like a slightly citrusy fresh clean comfort.
Have you been able to smell Eyes Closed, its spicey reminds me of the creamy porridge my grandmother used to make me with fresh cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and cream. My first fragrance from this house was Rose of No Man's Land, its lovely. I have Reine de Nuit on my wishlist, I love the dry down.
Glad to found this review, you put a lot of effort and you managed to described the notes very well! I've been obsessed with Byredo and want to try more, you made my saved Velvet Haze on my bookmarks ;) I'm currently trying Gypsy Water, Biblioteque and Mojave Ghosts, I also tried Blance but it wasn't for me :)
It’s a shame you don’t like Slow Dance. It’s my fav from the house. On my skin it’s amazing! Sweet, powdery, ambery, candied violets is what I get! 🖤🖤🖤
3 years later but yes! I have BDF, Mojave ghost, Gipsy water and slow dance. When I got slow dance I liked it the least. Now it is my favorite! xD I love it so much
I just stumbled across your channel, and this is such a great overview video of Byredo fragrances! You describe them all so well, and I really want to try out more of their scents☺️ Can’t wait to see more reviews on your channel✨
I believe in their Paris shop, you can choose whatever you like to make a discovery set of your own and it's just such a bargain. I love velvet haze and I think it's just such a unique and stunning scent. Love your channel and all your perfume review!!
They have these trios of discovery sets which are so great. Three of the perfumes in my video come from the woody set called "la collection boisée" which contains super cedar, black saffron and mojave ghost. Great to discover the collection.
Thank you for a great introduction to the house. Iv alwsys been pretty curious and not tried any yet, I certainly am now there are quite a few intreguing ones 😁
I have one byredo which I enjoyed enough to want to try another . I was leaning towards the Mojave ghost but after you're video I kind of want to try that elevator music
I want to love Bal d’Afrique since i like sweet scents, i love the opening notes but when i try to smell it on my skin it leaves kinda like an onion smell on my skin at the end :( i don’t know if it really does or just my nose coz my husband smelled it on me and he said it smelled good
Just ordered Byredo Bal D'Afrique and can't wait to get it. I smelled a sample of this one and it's amazing!!! I know most people say it's more feminine but since it's considered unisex than I don't have a problem wearing it. Great review!!! Love from Costa Rica! ❤️😊
I'm not a fan of *Byredo* so far (have only tried a few though) and I was going to skip this one. Glad I didn't. Would you say *Super Cedar* is similar to *Le Labos Rose 31* (if you've tried it). It has a good bit of the same notes. I've been looking for something similar to it's pre-reformulated version for a while now (got reformulated in 2016) and I can't find anything. Your channel is great! Your enthusiasm for fragrances seems so genuine.
Thanks for the great feedback! I find super cedar quite different to rose 31. Super cedar is much more woody and musky. Rose 31 has a prominent rose and cumin association which I don't find in super cedar. So it's more floral and spicy. Which of the two got reformulated? Perhaps I can have a look and help you out?
To my knowledge Mojave Ghost was inspired by the Mojave ghost (hence the name) flower, Mohavea confertiflora, rather than the desert itself. But one thing is for sure: It´s the most intriguing scent name, there is.
could enjoy this on a man but I don’t like it on me! I bought it because I was in Paris and smelled it at the counter and thought I liked it but I just can’t wear it. It’s too strong.. maybe I’ll change my mind.
Hi! Wondering if you can help me, one of my favorite perfumes is discontinued “Belenciaga B. Paris”, so sad. Wondering if you would know another perfume that smells similar. To my nose it opens up fresh and green, as if you walked into the section where they are selling Christmas trees, very fresh sweet pine, even if that’s not in the notes description lol. And it dries down light soft powdery musk. Any suggestions would be awesome! This quarantine time has given me time to look for a new signature scent. Thanks!
Somewhat out of my price range but I have bought decants of bal d'afrique and 1996 and loved both, with 1996 being the favourite. Perhaps you or one of your viewers could answer a question for me... I see byredo being sold on ebay from Russia by people with 100% feedback at amazingly low prices.. Has anyone had any experience of buying from there? Many thanks and enjoyed your review
So glad to hear you enjoy some Byredo fragrances. I would be VERY careful when purchasing fragrances on Amazon. There are a ton of fakes and if you see a big discount I would stay away from it.
@@jusderose thank you. Those were my thoughts too but I saw one seller 100% positive from more than 200 sales, which gave me thought. Still, since none of your viewers have offered positive thoughts I will look elsewhere. Again, many thanks for replying..
If you watch my recent videos you’ll notice there’s an audio change - I got a mic (except in the latest one with Steven I didn’t have it yet). Upcoming videos will be better 😊
The tulipmania hand wash is really refreshing. I’m very sensitive to strong scents because I have migraine so for me liking this means it’s so light and fresh.
Hi, love the review ❤️ I need your thoughts on this. I love rose of no man's land. What other fragrances comes close to the smell in your opinion. And what note do you think is the most prominent in rose of no man's land besides the rose?
Thank you for the comment. I find Rose of No Man’s land a fresh, dewy rose but that is grounded. I smell quite a bit of a raspberry note in here and also something that is perhaps slightly earthy and grounding. Not like dirt or anything like that just something in the background that holds the fragrance together and adds a little bit of character. The one fragrance that’s very similar to it is Edition Veronique by Mizensir as it shares this fresh rose petal effect note. The difference is that it’s more balmy due to the jasmine. Another fresh dewy rose is Longo Mai by Isnard.
I'm afraid not... I know it's a beloved scent but I just find it a little flat (sorry if I'm offending anyone!) and expect a little more for a niche fragrance. But if it works for you then go for it, absolutely!
Jus de Rose I get your point. Personally what drew me to this fragrance is the uniqueness of it. Citrus and vanilla, I mean who does that !? At the end of the day, fragrances are subjectives and that’s what make it interesting. Because how boring would it be if everyone would appear to like the very same things right ? 😅
compering the vetiver fragrances which one would you choose - Bal D’Afrique by Byredo or Vetyverio by Diptyque? I have Vetyverio and consider purchasing Bal D’Afrique, but do not know if they are similar and if it is worth having them both.. would be grateful for your advise
Thank you for your comment. Both fragrances couldn’t be more different! I find diptyque’s Vetyverio a noble vetiver, more elegant and dry vs. Bal d’Afrique. I personally love Bal d’Afrique and it’s one of my favorite Byredo scents. It smells balmy, more floral with “solar” elements with more sweetness compared to Vetyverio. Bal d’Afrique is comforting scent like a cashmere sweater. I like to wear it during the winter but I think it would work all year round too. Hope this helps!
Hi Josephine. I just love your reviews. My favorite Byredo perfume is Rose Noir. I’ve seen that your favorite 🌹 scent is Rose of no man’s land, but I’m so curious what do you think about Rose Noir?

Agreed! I'll be posting a buying guide for Byredo next Sunday with even more choices from Byredo :)
Another great review. My favourite byredo fragrances are Rose of no Man’s land and Eleventh Hour

Hello,
Which are the best scents for women.
I know I would love these. Great reviews. 👍🏻

The tulipmania hand wash is really refreshing. I’m very sensitive to strong scents because I have migraine so for me liking this means it’s so light and fresh.
Which of byredo fragrances are masculine... ?
Loved your thoughts. For me these easy to approach niche, like gallivant, aren't really for me. A easy brand to step into nichewise i think.
Yes, I agree, the scents are generally speaking quite easy to understand. What are you favourite niche houses/fragrances at the moment?
Nice video. How is the performance and sillage with Bal D’afrique?
Thank you! Bal d'Afrique is definitely one of the better performing Byredo fragrances. Sillage is good and it lasts around 6+ hours on my skin :)
