This is one of my favorite videos talking about the house of Byredo cuz you have mencioned a great variety of what they really have as a great house of fragances (my personal opinion) Well done👏🏼 My favorite from them are Sundazed, Velvet Haze, Slow Dance, Vanilla Antique, Black Saffron and Biblioteque. Take a chance to smell all of it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts
It feels so wonderful to find the perfume that's really speaks to you. When I wear any of my byredo bottles I am the girl who's working, next I am lounging on an airport seat listening to my favorite music and smelling fresh then I am off to lunch with my favorite girls. Moving into the evening with the beautiful velvet haze out on the town. It truly takes you away.
My first day in Stockholm I went straight to purchase Byredo "Velvet Haze". The lovely girls behind the counter gave me a ton of samples, they enlightened all of my senses to "Oud Immortel" a great night time/unisex scent which I would describe as full bodied and from another paradigm; and "Bal d'Afrique" being they're nominated scent which they felt best represented Swedish Chic and always gives me nostalgia of balmy Swedish summer evenings
Had the opportunity to purchase Gypsy Water and Bal d’Afrique at a discount, but I passed because I didn’t want to blind buy. I now regret it! I haven’t smelled any, but it sounds like I’d like Velvet Haze. Wonderful video! Hope you do more of these!
@@izievalo6319 I did blind by Bal d'Afrique but after getting it I found it's good but I feel its missing something for me. I recently found a boutique near me for Byredo and found that Black Safron and 1996 was more of my liking. But this is just me. Still like the brand.
So far my fav is Bal d'Afrique. Black Saffron confuses me because when I smell it on paper, I really like it. Then on my skin, I initially am unsure about the leather scent...but I get whiff of sweetness from it and the dry down smells better than when I first spray it. I guess this is the effect of a complex fragrance. I also really like Rose of No Man's Land and it might be the next one that I'm going to purchase.
hello! just curious to know if you have had any performance issues with bal d’afrique? i’m planning to purchase it but have read a few comments saying it does not last long
@@tanyavaidya7333 Not really. I smell it on me for quite a long time. It might vary depending on people's body chemistry. If you're close to any location that sells it, I'd suggest you ask for a sample or maybe spray it on you to test it out.
Thanks for the video ! Thanks for helping settle on the two byredo fragrances, Bal D’afrique and Black Safron. You are now my favourite fragrance reviewer.
Great content and thanks for reviewing this house, I was always curious about their fragrances. The only one I've tried from this house has been Bad d'Afrique, which I enjoy immensely. Would like to see more of these types of videos if you get the opportunity. Thanks again and stay safe.
I just tried Bal D"Afrique from a 5ml sample. I agree with JDR description. It is warm and comforting and smelling it makes me happy. There is a brightness and lightness to the scent with a strong lemon top note that quickly goes floral, powdery with a hint of sweetness. I have read that it smells "clean"...I agree but there is more complexity than that. I am 56y/o M, I think it leans unisex. Its not too feminine at all. BTW I would like to say that white looks great on JDR!!
The funny thing is yesterday I casually put on a touch of Rose of No Mans Land and forgot about it & went about my day puttering around the house. I started smelling olive oil strongly and could not figure out where it was coming from thinking something spilled or there was open food some place until it dawned on me I was smelling my perfume! It was nauseating after a bit & I had to take a shower to stop it.I didn't get that smell in the beginning. It fascinates me how perfumes can change & evolve. I own Bibliotique but when I first smelled it I LOATHED IT! But after a few days it was all I could think about & I went & bought the largest bottle. I just bought 11th hour I found it on sale for $200 for the large 3.3oz bottle. Its a blind buy so Im hoping I love it.
I must try more Byredo, so your video is very informative. I too love Bal D'Afrique so so much (that and Almaz are my new fave sig fragrances) I also have Vanille Antique which is my Winter go-to :)
You do an excellent job at describing the fragrances. Very helpful. It's funny you have Pulp listed as a Winter fragrance and most American reviewers say Summer.
Josephine can you do a buying guide for Atelier Cologne? Your taste is impeccable! I actually bought some fragrances based on your reccomendations (Rose of no man's land - Byredo, Tamdao - Diptyque), and they are exactly like how you describe them.
To me, a signature perfume is Byredo’s Baudelaire, Eleventh Hour or Oud Immortel (to me, Oud Immortel is similar to Baudelaire). Slow Dance is really nice, sweet, universal scent. 1996 is great as well. I used to have Seven Veils, but sold it, unfortunately. I wanna buy Rose of no man’s land in the future. It’s light, the rose in this scent is not offensive, in your face, it’s delicate and you can feel it in the dry down. The next one on my to buy list is Bal d’afrique.
Eloquent, elegant and enjoyable. Merci for the beautiful video. I am hunting for a new signature fragrance that speaks to me so this was super helpful. I am leaning towards another13. At the moment I wear Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil and Parfums de Marly Delina. Two very different moods!
Oh thank you that's so nice of you to say! Another 13 is indeed so different to the other two fragrances you mention. I guess the commonality to all of these is the musk cleanliness? Love an Hermes fragrance!
Thank you so much for a great video on a sunday💛 After getting a few travel sized Byredo fragrances, I have now decided to get a full bottle of Bal d’Afrique, it is sooo nice
Just stumbled upon your channel and found this one particularly helpful because I just started my Byredo journey. Buy a couple of them in vial size to test, and I love how you can describe each one in a simple manner. Thank you 💖
When I got my Mojave Ghost which it was my disappointment. Blind buy😒. But I got a small sample of Gypsy Water and it is awesome mmm. I should of listened to you.
Have just bought samples of Bal’Dafrique and Pulp after watching this and I looove them both. The problem is now deciding which one to buy first 😍 Your videos are so informative & very, very enticing for fragrance lovers!
Coincidentally Bal d'Afrique and Pulp are to this point the only full bottles of Byredo I have. Both among the favorites in my 300 bottle collection. Bal d'Afrique was simply so beautiful a scent profile that I decided to get a full bottle despite its slight lean towards the feminine. Pulp is amazing. Quite simply my holy grail of the Fruity genre. The most photorealistic, tart n sweet, complex over-ripe fruitiness that pierces the air and performs magnificently. The sweet tartness tickles my trigeminal nerve similar to the way it does when smelling gasoline. Can't stop sniffing it.
Love the way you manage to put light on parfumes so that they shines and comes through, to understand just by words - it's amazing and so inspiring!!🌺😘 Really curious about Sundanzed☀️🌿🤍 and also Pulp!💋💘
Great video, Josephine! Could you do a Memo Paris version of this? I’m super intrigued by the house, unfortunately I can’t find any samples/vials anywere! I would love to hear your opinion. Greetings from Bilbao 😘
I plan on doing one of Memo, it's one of my favorite niche houses! I've looked for samples and you can get them on Memo's website but not on all ranges. I will do a proper buying guide once I can get my hands on all fragrances to give you a proper guide :) Cheers!
Hi Josephine! Loved the video as always 😊 I love the way you describe fragrances. I don’t have any from Byredo yet, but my favorites are Bal d’Afrique and Slow Dance. I recently tried Sundazed also and wow, summer in a bottle! As you said, such a happy scent! Have an amazing Sunday guapa and keep on with the great content! Lots of kisses from Brussels! 😘 😘
Thanks for the breakdown review which was definitely helpful... the only one I tried is bal'd afrique simply because it was recommended, and yes I did like it!
Loved the format of the video, really helpfully set out. Sampled but never brought from the house. They seem like high quality every day scents that you would reach for a lot rather than special unique for one offs if that makes sense
Yes, they are quite easy to understand and wear it's true. Some are more polarising than others (Pulp & Slow Dance for example), but overall yes you're right, great for everyday. Have a lovely day!
LOL, I do not know what it is with me and Byredo. I can't stand the most popular scents. I can't stand Gypsy Water, Bal d'Afrique, Oud Immortel, Black Saffron...But I love love love Eleventh Hour, Rose Noir, Mojave Ghost and Biblioteque, and the house spray Tree House. :)
First video I saw of yours and subscribed immediately! This was so informative and great with the categories, it really helps paint a picture, which is so helpful as I don't have a sense of smell so I really on videos such as yours. I have my Byredo order ready now :)
I ordered a sample of 1996, gypsy water and bal d’afrique and my favorate was bal d’afrique. It smells so fresh and woody at the same time amd te touch of citrucy note adds it all. I will wear this fragrance everyday amd any season. I was a little disappointed about 1996 and gypsy water. Gypsy water smells like shagaf oud which i own already and 1996 reminds me of chanel number 5 but even chanel number 5 isnt bad but 1996 has this vintage smell to it. But all in all i happy i had an experiences with these fragrances. You are doing a good job here Jus de Rose.
i sampled bald afrique. July 2021: stay away ! it smells nothing ! 0 projection , below minus sillage. Eleventh Hour is nice. I am looking forward to sample more of the proposed
I have three from byrdo, Mojave Ghost, Bal dafrique and elevator music. I may look for another one. Pulp sounds interesting because it focuses on rubarb. I don't have a rubarb based fragrance in my collection.
I do enjoy most Byredo fragrances, but I don't feel that the quality necessarily matches the rather high prices. My favorite is Bal D'Afrique, as well. I'm also a fan of their higher-priced line of extraits, including Sellier and Reine de Nuit. Merci, Josephine!
dcjimr1 I got the smaller bottle with a couple of Montale sampler sets from Neimans during a $50 off $200 sale. Bal D’Afrique is the only one that is bottle worthy to me, I tried a couple similar frags or dupes and just not the same feeling for me.
I think longevity is definitely a bonus. I can't find fragrances similar to the ones I love from Byredo and I personally don't mind re-applying the fragrances throughout the day... but agree partly it's annoying that some have poor longevity
Sundazed, Sundazed 🤗👒👜👡💄👗💃🧚♀️ It's so light, airy, uplifting, making me happy, joyful, careless! I feel like a laughing fairy dancing in the sun rays, the air full of floating golden light particles. Dreamy 🌞☀️💞 Your descriptions are accurate. Bal d'Afrique is very elegant, it reminds me of Chanel Chance line. I am going to explore the whole Byredo now 😁
Amazing how you got the Byredo bottle in the background to talk! 😂 Sure, it only speaks in notes, but still! 💬 A perfect background and aesthetic. For me, the whole brand brand just seems to bring to mind the colour white. You're right about that geranium trick to. You have such a way with words. 🥰 This was a great guide Josephine!
I forgot how much I like Bal D'Afrique . Just put it on. I live at work, but unfortunately my boss does not like "The Freak." She loved Black Saffron so much that she would borrow mine and now she owns it. She also likes Mojave Ghost on me and plans to buy it. I wear Gypsy Water more because it is so easy.
Thanks for your take on these. Sounds like Bal D'afrique would be a good choice for me Thank you for an excellent breakdown on some from this house . . . cheers !
Rose of no mans land transports me back to my grandmothers bathroom, it’s truly uncanny. not necessarily a bad thing.. it gives me some nostalgic feelings but also seems a bit more mature than I’d like
I tried some of Byredo such as Flowerhead, Rose noir, Bibliotheque, Blanche, Rose of no man's land. So far I prefer Flowerhead and Rose noir. The others are mostly smell tobacco and woody which is not for woman 🤭😅😅😅
Josephine I would love to hear your opinion on one of my personal favorites from Byredo which is Rose Noir. I would describe it as a beautiful luscious rose scent with a bit of zesty grapefruit and earthy oak moss which brings that Noir element to this elegant fragrance. Looking forward to your opinion.
Omg we went to Nordstrom and we saw Byredo there then my husband bought me the whole set of byredo from shower to perfume we spent atleast alomst $600 plus we received a bunch of samples . It’s kinda pricey but it’s last long.
Very nice presentation. It would be nice if you can cover the whole byredo fragrance. I just bought reine de nuit bit hesitant because I’m not sure if this fragrance smells to feminine for me. I’m not big fan of rose much. Any recommendations I liked something versatile office, day time/night time , weekend etc. I’m looking for winter fragrance. Thx
I can not smell Mojave Ghost. Tried several times/different occasions/stores. What is wrong with me? I do love Bal d'Afrique - have bought it several times.
YES! I have been waiting for this video :D rose of no man's land is my fav. It is not a conventional rose scent, I use to think that rose is something boring, but omg byredo changed it for me 100% Really like Pulp but can't handle it more that 30 minutes ha-ha
Great guide for these fragrances from Byredo. I'm wearing Gypsy Water today and love it. Wondering if you've smelled Bauldaire by Byredo, and if so, what are your thoughts? I really like Bauldaire. It doesn't get mentioned much on UA-cam though.
Oh that’s wonderful to hear. I have smelled Baudelaire - I actually have the candle which I love. I can’t remember the fragrance on skin per se but I remember it being super powerful!
Wonderful video! I’m purchasing my first byredo perfume and this video laid out all of them perfectly. I’m curious which size to get, what size bottle are you holding near the begging of the video?
I was looking for reviews of 'Bibliothèque', but didn't find a lot. This video did help me with getting to know the brand and I'm very excited to purchase some of their perfumes! But their hair perfumes look more promising money wise.
Gypsy Water is my number 1 scent!!! My other favourites by Byredo in my collection are Rose Noir and Rose Of No Man's Land :) And I would like to get Black Saffron as well.... maybe one day it will be mine ;)
I think describing smells, specifically fragrances is really difficult and you did a wonderful job

Thank you for your comment! Happy Easter :)
Thanks for another great video! I'm looking to buy a Byredo fragrance after purchasing some of their candles!
Thanks! Definitely look into the fragrances. There are a few discovery sets on the website so you can experience multiple at the same time.
The saleswoman at Nordstrom told me, “Black Saffron smells like what I think a man should smell like.” #Sold
I like the Rose of No Man's Land, Bibliotheque, Blanche, Sundazed, Mixed Emotions and Reine De Nuit. The leather lover in me likes 1996.
Thanks for your take on these.
Sounds like Bal D'afrique would be a good choice for me
Thank you for an excellent breakdown on some from this house . . . cheers !
Thank you Arden, Happy Easter!
Ever since i discovered Rose of no man's land it became my signature scent 🥰 it's light and fresh... love it so much!!!!!
I have a decant of the Bal d'Afrique and must say I'm pleasantly surprised with how fresh it smells. It sometimes does remind me of Ginger.
Your videos are really professional and the script is quite succinct for a channel that is relatively new!
Thank you!
Gee..now this is what you call a review.👊👊👊
Rose of no mans land transports me back to my grandmothers bathroom, it’s truly uncanny. not necessarily a bad thing.. it gives me some nostalgic feelings but also seems a bit more mature than I’d like
I tried some of Byredo such as Flowerhead, Rose noir, Bibliotheque, Blanche, Rose of no man's land. So far I prefer Flowerhead and Rose noir. The others are mostly smell tobacco and woody which is not for woman 🤭😅😅😅
Would have loved to hear your thoughts on Mojave Ghost...my favorite!
I like Byredo perfumes but I realised that hair spray version of them is much long wearing and generally a better value for the money.
That’s great! Definitely a good thing to go for if you don’t want to invest the full price 😊
I love that that lip colour, where is it from?
Josephine I would love to hear your opinion on one of my personal favorites from Byredo which is Rose Noir.
I would describe it as a beautiful luscious rose scent with a bit of zesty grapefruit and earthy oak moss which brings that Noir element to this elegant fragrance.
Looking forward to your opinion.
I haven't tried this one yet... I will definitely have a look when stores open again :)
My favorites are la Tulipe and Bal d' Afrique, heavenly!
Omg we went to Nordstrom and we saw Byredo there then my husband bought me the whole set of byredo from shower to perfume we spent atleast alomst $600 plus we received a bunch of samples . It’s kinda pricey but it’s last long.
Wow you’re one lucky girl! 😊
From Byredo i only got the most intense ones to me, Pulp Flowehead and Sundazed. But they are all good.
great video greetings from mexico, I like the way you talk about perfumes, I see the passion with which you do them!
Thank you for the support. Have a nice weekend!
You describe scents so well!! Subscribed 😊
Thank you!
Thx
Great video. I was told by the woman in Byredo there is no oud in oud immortel - which makes no sense! Apparantley its just inspired by oud
I can not smell Mojave Ghost. Tried several times/different occasions/stores. What is wrong with me?
I do love Bal d'Afrique - have bought it several times.
Have you tried the Vanille Antique for winter
Summer fragrance- sundazed/ flower head
I was looking for reviews of 'Bibliothèque', but didn't find a lot. This video did help me with getting to know the brand and I'm very excited to purchase some of their perfumes! But their hair perfumes look more promising money wise.
Thank you for watching! Hair perfumes are a great way to get more affordable fragrances and they tend to last long too!
Gypsy Water is my number 1 scent!!! My other favourites by Byredo in my collection are Rose Noir and Rose Of No Man's Land :) And I would like to get Black Saffron as well.... maybe one day it will be mine ;)
Wonderful choices!
Gypsy water,Lil fleur,Black Saffron and Heliotropia👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Winter-pulp/ eleventh hour/oud immortel
Just got a sample of Palermo and OMG!! Never smelled something similar to this!! What are these perfumes made of?!
