- This is a how to demonstration video on playing a singing bowl. In this video, Elizabeth shows us how to play a singing bowl a few different ways. She has a few different bowls, and will demonstrate ways in which you can ring them and make them sing.

My bowl is the smallest one I ve ever seen. I was on my trip in Shimla from where I bought it. The owner first handed showed me how to play it. It was foremost the most fascinating voice I ve ever heard..

Why was the last part cut off?!?! Thats the bit i wanted to see/hear. I love the deep sounds the larger hand hammered bowls make. Can't wait to get my own one day when i visit Nepal.

I can’t get my new, small singing bowl to ring, using circular motion. The minute I even lightly touch the side of the bowl, the tone is pretty much muted! What am I doing wrong? 😢
Me too! Good question! Did you get it figured out?
Are you going slow enough? Does the striker you’re using have felt or any padding
@@kylo4633 I am going slowly... I think the problem is the base on which it sets. The bowl turns around when I’m trying to get it to sing, and also slides a bit, interrupting the process, for lack of a better way to phrase it.
@@kylo4633 Yes I am going slow but it does have a little padding on the end

My tool to make them sing doesn’t have felt could the wood work too or should I look into buying one with felt?
Definitely wrap them.
I suggest using a soft, thin/broken in, piece of suede.

Elizabeth here. I like HimalayanBowls.com. Our bowls in the meditation center are from them. You can listen to the sound of the bowl you get! Also their bowls sing pretty well compared with some of the bowls we have from other vendors. One is always a good start, and it can be fun to have a collection eventually.
Would sound from a larger bowl last longer than a smaller bowl after being struck?

There's a ritual words saying while you play the singing bowls?
"Tibetan" singing bowls aren't a historical ritual implement. They're not even Tibetan. You can use them with rituals, but there weren't any rituals used with the bowls.
