Enjoyed watching this. I visited Hong Kong a few years back and fell in love with Tin Lung Heen at the Ritz-Calton. They also had a chilled mango & sago cream with pomelo. Tastiest dessert ever! So refreshing.
Tried a 3 star restaurant in SF the atmosphere, service and presentation were great. The food is above average. Stopped at a burger place afterwards to quell my hunger.
That's the crazy/frustrating thing about fine dining at times....some leaves you hungry, some you feel stuffed half way through. I hope you still enjoyed it!
Makes no sense... Been to dozens of Michelin Guide 3 stars over the decades and never left hungry.. and I am a big guy ! :) Perhaps your expectations are just unattainable. Obviously, you have to do what works for you.
really enjoyed the pacing of this video. loved seeing the chef and manager give their thought process in the beginning. i know some comments mention you being too front and center in the video - but i respectfully disagree. i really enjoyed your thoughts and commentary. it adds a more personable element that can’t be simply copied from any other food reviewer/commentator. keep it up!
I use to travel to Hong Kong and had the pleasure of having lunch at the Peninsula Hotel. The hotel was stunning, the food was oh so delicious, service great but the winner was the tea selection so yummy.
Nice video. Some comments mention the fixing of the camera which I agree. It is too shaky sometimes. Put it on a tripod and leave it there, or get a gimbal. Gimbal also stabilizes images. Hope you make much more videos!
I tried to reseve a table for two for lunch a month prior to my arrival in Hong Kong, but they were totally booked. But I got a table for dinner, no problem. Hope their dinners are as good as their famous lunches!
Miáo (苗) means shoot, as in a tender plant growth; miao of peas (doumiao) are probably the most common & popular but there are miao of other veggies like sweet potato
Went to Lung King Heen for dinner back in 2017. It was absolutely awesome and actually quite a reasonable price for the level of service and quality of food you get. And I was rolling out of there absolutely full...this is a Chinese restaurant after all
Hahaha that's fantastic!! Great to hear and hope you make it back someday. Agreed that they absolutely stuff you with food. Which isn't always the case at some other fine dining places.
You need to work on explaining food better. A lot of audiences do not work in the food/beverage industry. For example, explain the texture difference between the two kinds of egg tarts. Don't just say what it is and how it tastes to you. Camera angle needs to be fixed on the food more versus you. Good luck
I’m inclined to agree with this comment. Need better shots of the food. You have way too much screen time. All the sit down shots of you make it seem like you’re a show host or some celebrity lol. It’s slightly off putting tbh as the food should be the star here not you, maybe one day you can pivot but not for a new channel. Obviously it’s a balance with wanting to build your audience, but the food shots seem like an afterthought. Good editing though.
I appreciate the feedback. Will work on it. This was one of my first two food videos (had no idea how to showcase it) so it's great to get feedback. More and hopefully better videos to come. Thanks.
I agree, wasn’t impressed with Dim Sum, It’s Dim Sum in a nice setting, this place doesn’t do volume for sure, look how empty the place is. Trying to say that elevate 3 star, imagine all the Dim Sum around the corner packed.
@@haotanglove your hospitality content and you diving in food more would also be awesome. Glad to see you take the feedback with maturity and composure.
great video and behind the scenes insight of a HK institution, their take on fried rice looks really enticing. What would you say are your top restaurants/bars to visit in HK?
Thanks for viewing! I'm not a big drinker so I have no clue about bars. But I enjoyed Dark Side when. Something I do look forward to when I return to HK in a few months is to take a boat out to one of the islands and have seafood :)
@@haotang Ah yes inside the Rosewood, definitely a bucket list hotel I plan on staying next time I visit. I am also looking forward to going to one of those fresh seafood markets and picking out live seafood and taking it to an adjacent restaurant where they cook it up for you
Great eye. I changed between the kitchen and waiting for lunch in my dinning room. I didn't want to wear my white sweater in the kitchen in case I bumped into any oil or sauce or something.
First of all that looks delicious but as a westener one question comes up. What about the beverages? In the west you usually get a wine pairing to every single dish. Isn´t that the case in Chinese cuisine? Is everything so juice and succulent that you do not need any drinks?
I was here a few years ago when it had 3 stars. To be honest, I was not impressed, and quite disappointed. The price was not crazy, but it just didn't deliver. Some of the items on the tasting menu were bland. Perhaps a bad night. The Chairman in Central, has 3 stars, and deserves it.
Oh my.... I wish more Chinese specifically Cantonese restaurants are of this caliber. The reality is majority of Chinese customers do not appreciate true European (French, Italian, Spanish etc) fine dining experience with its proper service, plating, presentation and wine pairings. It's just lost and not valued. Heck, I've been told the ruder the wait staff, the better the food... So SAD...
I agree! And I, myself, didn't really appreciate Chinese food enough as a fine dining option. I'm used to only dining at Western restaurants for fine dining. Your point can even be seen from some of these comments. From people who have never tried, yet so sure of their opinions and judgement. You won't know until you've experienced it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@haotang SO true. I remember one of my Michelin 3 star experience in Paris.... In between courses, I slid my chair as I needed to go to the boy's room. Without me asking, a staff person immediately approached me, assisted me to pull my chair, took my napkin and escorted me. He KNEW why I was getting up ! Once I was done, as I opened the restroom door, a totally different staff person saw me and approached me and simply said: "This way sir" . He escorted me back, again, without asking. This second staff person knew where I was seated ! That place must have had 100+ customers that evening. This was 30 years ago and I still remember it to this day.
I never heard that 'bao' suppose be like 'brioche.' I doubt there even a word for 'brioche' in like old Chinese. Just wondering why waitress have to wear mask. I much rather see her face. This dim sum out of my 'pay grade.' Like. WAY out. Only time parents and sibling at Peninsula Hotel, I not invited.
Thanks for the interesting video. It would be nice if you made the effort to hold chopsticks properly. Chinese utensils, like Chinese food, deserve attention and respect.
Ridiculously overpriced and overhyped food as are all Michelin-starred restaurants. You can find delicious similar dishes in Hong Kong and China for a fraction of the price!
For sure... but ppl still misunderstand what a 3michelin star restaurant is all about... its not just the food, its also the place, service, wine or drink list. 3 star doesnt always mean better food than the1star or no star restaurant, it just mean they hv better place service or wine list
$130 for a lunch is pretty reasonable for 3 stars, fine dinning restaurants. true there are amazing food on the street, but in restaurants like this you dont just pay for the food.
Just don't rely on fake Chinese to tell you how great Chinese food tastes and should be, when you cannot even rightly hold and use chopsticks, it tells a lot
The commentator needs to learn how to hold chopsticks properly. It’s painful to watch how his thumb is sticking up & other fingers seems struggling to manipulate the chopsticks. Perhaps just use knife & fork!!!

I tried making a reservation at another equally highly rated restaurant THE CHAIRMAN and they are fully booked until the end of December this year!!!

How can you promote a Restaurent that has lost a star. Find out why!

I doubt the food tasted any better than street food at a fraction of the cost, lavish surroundings don't improve the taste.
pretty sure is not the first

putting your hands under your food while you eat it, the weirdest thing real Asians never do.
