Hi Crafty Friends! A lot of folks are mentioning they have no clue what I’m talking about when I mention people putting powder on the exposed tape. Jennifer McGuire demonstrates what I’m talking about in this video at the 6:35 minute mark: ua-cam.com/video/Tx2QmQ35k4k/v-deo.htmlsi=iB-p1vt-SaApJ8k4 Let me know if you've tried this, too! Remember you can use other things like toilet tissue, paper towel, thin copy paper, gift wrapping tissue paper, napkins, tracing paper, to name a few. Thanks for watching and happy crafting!
THANK YOU! all those tiny flowers and leaves! What a pain to remove them one by one and then they fall to the floor, etc. NOT ANY MORE - thanks to you! Yay!
Think we must have been under the same rock😂 Been crafting since mid nineties and this is first time of seeing this technique.......such a time saver and easy to do . Thank you for sharing, this is what makes the crafting community such a friendly place. Regards from UK 🇬🇧
A huge thumbs up on this! I don't mind powder but I do hate trying to keep track of all the fiddly die set bits. I try to do several cards at a time and those little pieces fall into unknown places, never to be seen again. This keeps them together for die cutting and you only have to do it once! No more lost pieces! Thank you so much.
Definitely not under a rock!! I saw somewhere the idea to use dryer sheets for the same purpose and didn’t like it since the chemical coating stained the dies and die cuts!! You are a genius 👏
Aw, thank you! I’ve used dryer sheets too, but that was to help the die cuts pop out more easily. I saw a video years ago with a die manufacturer who recommended that you not use dryer sheets, but instead use release paper designed for helping release intricate die cuts after they’re due cut. I was just looking for something to eliminate the stick of exposed tape instead of using a powder. 🥰
I have been crafting since 1995, I have never seen this tip - what a time saver this will be when cutting dies. Thank you so much - off to try this now...😂
I’m so glad! I’ve been paper crafting for about the same time. Ever since I’ve used dies, it never occurred to me until one day, I had this ah-ha moment. I tested it and couldn’t wait to share it! Thanks for watching! 🥰
This is a new one to me and a game changer too, particularly for some smaller die sets that I love, but have fiddly bits that keep getting separated. Thank you for this video!
I've seen dies taped together before, but like you-never with a buffer layer. Great idea, and thank you for sharing that. I love your card, it's gorgeous.
I’ve been card making about 2 1/2 yrs now & haven’t seen this method. Wish l’d of seen it yesterday as l spent all day cutting for a few different card designs. I’ve used parchment paper which helped on iddy biddy dies, but it goes everywhere & makes a huge mess. Your method is awesome for grouping dies & keeping them together after cutting. I wish more companies would group the tiny dies on one solid piece (as some have started doing), but your method here is awesome for giving the option to do this! Brilliant! So grateful you took the time to share it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻💖
😮 You are a GENIUS!!! Not that I've ever used or seen anyone use powder, but what a brilliant way of not having to deal with tape, over and over again. Now I'm gonna have to die cut something tonight...
Lol! Im no genius, trust me on that one! 😂 But I’m crafty and try to think of ways to improve a process that’s challenging. And this was it. Let me know how it goes! 🥰
Genius!! ❤ I don’t have an aversion to powder, but I do have an aversion to working harder (or tedious) than I have to! Thank you for this - and the gel pen tip, too! New subscriber! 🙋♀️
So innovative! I never realized how often I take the time to tape the same dies in the same arrangement until this technique showed me I can keep them in place without getting sticky tape residue (or anti-static powder) all inside my storage pouch. Thank you for sharing!
I've never seen this before, and I watch a lot of crafting videos! So, go you! Thanks for thinking outside the box and sharing it with us! We'll have to call it the Kathie technique 😃

I have never seen this technique. I have 2 grandsons who experience sensory things differently than most -- it's a fun, exciting adventure. They are both years ahead of their respective grades. You're genius!!
Wow Kathya, this is brilliant and I have never seen it before. This will be sooo helpful with super mini flower and leaf dies, or a batch of small letter and number dies. I can't thank you enough. I'm about to turn 70 and I don't have time to fish missing dies off the carpet lol! Hi from Cath in CT.♥
Oh, Cath, I hear you!!! I’ve lost so many of them myself. I JUST bought the die set I showed in the video and already lost the smallest piece before recording the video. I’m sure it will turn up somewhere. I just hope it surfaces before I run the vacuum! 😂
Thank you for showing Alex Siberia products. They don’t get the attention they deserve. Their designs and products are wonderful. We tried that in my card clubs several years ago and we found that many dies are not really sharp enough to cut through multiple layers and the embossing from the dies will be less noticeable. Try using a binder clip with embossing powder that comes in a bag, just clip to the edge of the bag and that should remedy problem with the powder. There are several companies that have tools where you do not have to touch the powder, Simon Says Stamp and Rabbit Hole designs are two companies I have used and they work great.
Agreed. I love that particular AS die set. It’s wonderful. I do have the Rabbit Hole embossing tool. I know I don’t have to touch it, but the point of this was to simply eliminate any powdered mess. Once you use 1 ply if the facial tissue, your card stock and tissue fall out, leaving your blade exposed thereafter, so it doesn’t impact any cutting of your future projects. I hope this helps explain. 🥰
Hi Kathya! Fresh or used dryer sheets work well too. Also, pls let me know the name/brand of the background starburst piercing die that you used. Your card is just lovely and so are you! Blessed crafting! 😊
Hi Christine! Yes, I think someone suggested using dryer sheets for dies, but one of the die manufacturers recommends not to do this due to the coating. I don’t remember the brand of the starburst piercing die but I found this on Simon Says Stamp and it’s very similar to the one I used (non affiliate link): www.simonsaysstamp.com/products/waffle-flower-dotted-sunburst-die-421404
W😲W! Well, hi neighbor!!! I live under the rock next to yours 🤣 because I have never seen this or heard about this technique before! BRAVO!!! 👏👏 Thanks for sharing. 🤗
What a fantastic idea, especially when you finish with the die. I’m forever loosing dies that fall of the table, great way to keep them together. Thanks for sharing. X
I have seen crafters use wax paper to help the diecuts release easily but not tissues. I used low tack tape to hold some dies together for repeat cutting the same stamped shapes. I set my stamps up on a stamping platform Making sure there was enough space between images for die borders. I repeatedly stamped out the images. Then I lined up all the dies over the images and taped them together as shown here. Then I could line them all up at once and run the sheet through my die cutting machine. This was for a mass production project. The down side is the tape stuck in the margins between the dies. The upside is the tape held all pieces in place while die cutting. These were all cut out of white paper to be colored in as a craft project for a local nursing home. Then glued onto a pop up card. Thanks for this tip.
I guess I've been under two rocks because I don't even know what you're talking about using powder on dies for lol This is a great idea! Thanks so much 😊
