- In this guide we're going to take an in-depth look at mutations for your soldiers. We'll talk a bit about the advantages and disadvantages of mutating your soldiers, cover the different mutations and what they bring to the table, and then talk about some tips for how your mutations can specifically help your soldiers really excel on the battlefield.
What i gather from all of this is that a full squad of 6-8 priests could be absolutely broken. Expensive tho
Honestly, my biggest problem with the mutations is that they always look out of place, since you can never have the Soldier fully mutated.
It's really weird looking when the person's body is a weird tentacled green-skinned abomination but the moment it gets to your neckline, it's completely normal looking.
They coulda at least tried to match the face's skintone to match the mutated bits.
Though i guess it's not as weird as chopping off a Soldier's head and torso, replacing it with robot bits and have them still use fleshy legs
Goes into mutation tank, makes sure to powder the clothes so it doesn’t mutate too much under the clothes so you can still be normal in bed.
“Weird, why do they all have stuff around their throat not changed.”
- Guy overseeing the mutation, his dick doubles as a night light unlike everyone else who wore clothes.
Yeah, I get what you're saying, it is a bit weird sometimes. Especially trying to put a Juggernaut torso and bionic head on top of meat legs... with all that armor, the torso alone would weigh hundreds of pounds and you expect the soldier to be able to move without augmented legs? Good luck with that! :) I get the "only two augments per soldier" thing from a game balance perspective, but it does lead to some sort of unrealistic combinations.
One of the things I think about is what you're asking the soldier to do. The entire mission is to save humanity, yet you're asking your soldiers to give up their humanity, or at least very large chunks of it, to fight this war. And really you're not even asking, it's more like - You! Report to the lab, we have plans for you! :D
@@JericsGamescape That's why New Jericho didn't want to use their Robotics research and burnt it to the ground initially after all, and is why the disciples of Anu are so questioned by other factions.
@@alibouk227 to be fair, Anu agrees with mutations to a extent. Especially since forsaken are, well, forsaken by them
What bugs me is that if you can replace the head what’s the point of keeping the legs or torso human?
I was thinking about Venom Torso, the worst of them all, and I think I find another niche application of that. Maybe, maybe it could be useful for Berserker, expecially on scavenging mission (freeing you some space from pistol). +2 speed is quite useful, 20 armor is fine, 10% stealth is good enough (maybe combined with another stealth armor things). A classical berserker use only one-handed weapon so it's quite okay-ish.
Interesting thought. I think the Tormentor handgun from the Kaos Syndicate makes this torso slightly... SLIGHTLY... better. The +20% accuracy will bring its effective range up to 26, with two-round burst for 50 damage and 10 pierce each, so that is something. I'm not going to say it's a great idea, but at least you can get some respectable damage output now. If the weapon explodes, or if you just need to poison something, you have your spike to fall back on. As for the berserker idea, if you're just going straight berserker with no multiclass, this might be an OK fit, like you say, and a berserker is always happy to have the speed boost.
Another advantage to Mutations over Cybernetics is that they don't require upkeep/maintenance.
P.s. @JericsGamescape I'd be interested in a video about aerial combat/sorties and modules. I was stunned by your recent appraisal of the Artemis, since I tend to put at least 1 on all my interceptors. Admittedly I haven't tried all aerial weapons out though.
Hey Jeric, just wanted to say that your videos are very informative and well structured; pretty helpful for somebody like me going into the game for the first time. Big thank you! I am really looking forward to any other games you decide to cover in the future.
Hey, thanks! I'm glad they're helping you. We'll dive into other games at some point, but for now this series is taking up most of my available time. But we'll get there, no worries.
I used Venom Torso to absolutely murder Lair Spawneries and Scyllas....They are so big, you literally cant miss. Works best with Infiltrator/Berserker. One handed melee weapon and crosbow arm. Worked pretty well.
I feel like the poison torso would be good for putting it on a berserker, or somebody else who specializes in close combat. You can use the projectile arm as a secondary weapon, for enemies who are too far to reach otherwise.
As always, I encourage you to experiment with it. These videos are just sort of "The World According to Jeric," and I recognize other people have other play styles and may think of things I don't think of. So yeah, give it a try, see how it works!
I'm still wondering why, you can't put equipment on mutated parts and you do on augmented, and wiki stating that you can't on both.
Well, overall it's just game balance. There has to be a tradeoff for taking these upgrades, right? Otherwise why wouldn't you do it on all your soldiers? Does it make logical sense? I think it does for the mutations, at least, because there are no mount points on mutations for the equipment. Less so for bionic augmentations, since it would be very easy to add mount points to a bionic frame, so I don't really know, in that case.
I do understand the balance issue, but the thing is that as i just checked you can freely put vests and head modules on those augmented parts, couldn't check legs. And read somewhere (might be on PP discord), that it is due to Neuron Torso mount point, but i still wonder what is the real reason or is it just a bug.
Can any help out on mutation? I recently built the mutation lab, but I'm only getting 1 head, torso & leg option. How to unlock more option?
Very nice video, seeing most mutation they look like they are made for berserker and zerker combined classes, do regen tordo still work when disabled on a berzerker?
Same for the poison and paralysis torso they look made for berserker so the ability dont get disabled by a lucky shot...
Maybe the stomp leg for the accuracy could be bonus for an heavy or other stuff... bu the other two leg are made for zerk hybrid to me...
Also they seem to work better if you have mutlitple gusy with the same mutations for the tentacle poison torso, the stomp and electro legs
Also anu pistol with poison torso get so much more accurate same if you take the laser or paralisys one
I got the mod that allows all 3. Sooo much fun
Yeah, the mod is cool :)
@@JericsGamescape this with pistol proficiency for all classes is all you need for a good vanilla with sprinkles playthrough
I hope at least after that video devs fix text issues with parts
Well, even if they don't, now you know about them, so you're good to go in the future!
Gave you all research, and you have instant build? How did you do that? They're supposed to release mod support today which will include options for such things. But this video is from January!
The command console has been available for a long time, you just had to jump through some hoops to enable it. That's how I set up all of these training videos.
@@JericsGamescape Ah, well it seems like that's no longer the case with the new workshop support. I found this out by complete accident, but the console commands are now enabled without having to download any mods to use them. Just hit the ~ key and it brings down the menu. On that note, what's the command to give you instant research and faction support? Because I've got a lot of tech I need to get through, and both New Jericho and Synedrian are not on good terms with me.
So I wanna ask this, the venom torso only lets you use one handed weapons yes? This obviously makes it rather bad on most soldiers. But what about the berserker class? They can only use one handed weapons anyway. Ignore pain doesn’t care if it gets disabled and the venom torso gives them a nice ranged option. So what about on them? (Note this is all in theory as I haven’t gotten this far yet)
OK, sure, if you're not going to cross-class your Berserker and you really want the +20% accuracy for your handguns plus the ability to poison things, I suppose this is OK. But I think the Berserker is probably the weakest single-class soldier. It's got GREAT abilities for other classes to cross-class with, but its main focus is melee, and the heavy class is arguably better at it, at least until Level 7, and even then the Berserker is only better if it's using Adrenaline Rush with the Armored Head mutation (which keeps it from being dazed after Adrenaline Rush).
The Kaos Tormentor might be decent with the +20% accuracy if you don't mind the unreliability. It gets to be nearly as accurate as the Hephaestus with burst 2, 50 damage, and pierce 10, so I suppose that's something to look at in this idea of a build. Probably want to carry a backup though!
Look, long story short: Can you do it? Absolutely. Is it going to be as good as cross-classing your berserker into some other class that can use two-handed weapons? Probably not. But hey, give it a try and see, maybe I'm wrong. I always say you should experiment and see what works for you and your playstyle. If it doesn't work out, you're out a few mutagens, no big deal. Mutate the torso into one of the other two and carry on!
I have one level which is the first level of the research but I don’t know how to get the other two levels. I don’t know what to research in order to get them. Are there any battles or quest that I need?
You can get the second level either by cozying up to New Jericho and having them share it with you, or you can get it from the Overrun mission, I believe. The third level is actually Synedrion research, not New Jericho, so you need good diplomatic relations with them, too, or if you agreed to help Subject 24 from the Pure, you can get it from the Guided by Whispers mission.
@@JericsGamescape thank you so much! Your videos have always helped me out with this dang game. 😁
