Edward G Robinson was born in Romania. But this isn't the only reason why he was so loved and highly appreciated in my country. He was was a great actor and I can hardly wait to watch this movie. From the comments, I understand there are also Romanian subtitles. That's great! Greetings from Romania! 🇷🇴
his only low point in his career was when he was falsely accused as a communist in the 50s, but he bounced back even after that! that some true grit, many accused in those days didnt fair well. Hello Romania!

GREAT choice of movies @CCC ... I enjoyed the great film & fun chat very much! 😀🥰 Gonna rewatch the b&w version. TY for including the link in the description! I'll be telling more friends about this channel & the fun to be had every night! 😀
i LOVE this little movie. to me it is one of the most freudian films EVER! in danny peary's review of king kong his theory is that skull island represents the subconscious mind of carl denham. this theory can easily be applied to the ox head woods and edward g. robinson's character in the red house 1947. just as the dark memories of the past are repressed (or least he attempts to repress them) in the back of his mind, the red house is buried deep within the ox head woods. EGR can not guard the ox head woods. he has a bad leg. often in cinema freudian terms a lame leg = impotence. he hires a much younger, much more virile man for the job (rory calhoun) who is always popping off his rifle (a phallic symbol). when the teens go searching for the red house their quest is in vain as one 'non-believer' is present and distractions are a plenty. yet when the young girl goes to sleep her subconscious mind unlocks the deep buried memory of the secret location of the red house. she awakens and goes straight to the red house!
What a fantastic movie w/all the right actors/actresses. I felt as if i was there w/them. Edward G. Robinson always does a stellar job in every role he plays. I was so caught up in every scene that I became Meg.
Hi dear Colorization team, I have seen this film The Red House in black & white several years ago. Must admit, you guys have done a perfectly wonderful job on the colorization part. First thing I look for in a colorization film is the "BRIGHTNESS" and this film has oodles of it. Even the mid and distant shots are classy. Congrats guys, you'll did it again. The young Julie London is a dream to look at making all those come-hither looks at the infatuated Lon MacAllister. Its a neat suspense film that will keep viewers riveted till the very end. Enjoy this film and the wonderful colorization that goes with it. Its THE MOST!!!
Thank you so much for sharing! There are all sorts of opinions on B&W vs Color. Its always great reading from viewers who enjoy the effort, even if sometimes the results are 100% perfect. Hope you keep enjoying our content! Cheers!!
Bunch of vandals more like. They ruin bw films & wash away all the light & dark of bw cinematography. You are an utter disgrace to film history & need locking up as we may lose the original films replaced by these terrible forgeries.
The B&W version, link in the description, is far superior to this colorized. Great movie! Full of suspense Features Julie London from the TV show EMERGENCY!
Robinson sometimes gets a bad rap as an actor. Despite the gangster films, he could play in a wide range of genres in movies and was pretty good at all of them. His comedy work is quite good when he pokes fun at himself and his image, and he plays a good guy equally as well as he plays a villain.
Who gives him a bad rap? I always thought he was very respected, including getting an honorary Oscar. I hadn't heard of people criticizing his acting. I've always really liked him ...
When has E G Robinson ever gotten a bad rap? Another troll just itching for attention, so you post an absurd remark. Everyone in cinema knows his range was wide and broad; he was trained in the Yiddish Theater from childhood. He was a natural on both stage and screen. What 'comedy work' are you referring to in which he' pokes fun at himself'? I didn't think so.
Edward G. Robinson never got a bad rap as an actor. He was blacklisted, in the 1950s; and that he was not convicted of any crimes. The only bad rap he got was never being nominated for an Academy Award. He received an honorary Oscar after his death. There were many roles he should have been nominated for. I’ve never seen him a bad role. Did anyone see All My Sons with Burt Lancaster? That’s my favorite and Key Largo. 👍🎥🍿
This is a fantastic yet relatively unknown Noir type suspense film with touches of the supernatural thrown in. Although I prefer the original B&W ,this is still good. Look for the gorgeous singer/actress Julie London who went on to play Head ER Nurse Dixie McCall in the 1970s series "EMERGENCY ", and had a hugely successful singing career. Trivia: Also married to Bobby Troop who played Head ER Doc Joe Early in same said series.
I never heard of this one but my God Robinson was superb in this he was ahead of his time in acting my God was so believable in this the beginning when he was telling the boy to go the long way scared the shite outta me wow what an actor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice. I did not know that!
The hardest emotion to display in acting is life long guilt
Robinson excelled at it.
Not unless one really felt deep guilt

Wonderfuul film. Good directed and full of thrill and anxiety. Actor Pete was superb. Meg, Nat, Ellen were also very good actors. 👍🙏

The score was reconstructed and released in a 2 cd digital recording by Intrada about 10 years ago.
It was better uncolorized. Still enjoyed watching it again.

Very good film. I've never seen many of the United Artists features. The use of the Theremin on the soundtrack is interesting.
They Don’t Make Movies Like These Anymore. It’s Very Sad How Our Country Has Changed. Todays Movies Are Demonic To Much Violence.
Edward g is never in a bad movie, I still wonder about the dog at the end .
This film was never meant to be colorized. Waste of time.
