Black Water is the greatest Doobie Brothers song ever.
This is how you make people happy.
Really important comment, thanks.
Music was, is, and will always be able to shape the emotions of humans.
Most importantly to disperse a pilgrim under the curse of the empty emotional vessel, where exists only darkness and without any light, forever. Amen¥
@@kadehebert201 Very accurate summary. Love it!
The 70s were the best music you could have ever asked for
Totally! We went to concerts almost every weekend. The outdoor concerts, with multiple bands, would play all day into the night! Fun times 😎❤
I agree.I'm sure guys like Betoven and Motzart would be rolling over in their Graves over it though.
ABSOLUTELY!❤❤
The 60’s were pretty fantastic!
We were SO Blessed..
One of my dad's favorite songs to play. He would pull that record out and put it on the record player and we would dance. Today is his birthday 🕊️
happy late birthday to your dad he sounds like he was a beautiful soul
play it for him ❤
Kiss him for me l! I lost my dad quite awhile back and it sucks!
Happy Birthday to your dad! ❤
Back when music was real and musicians had real talent
LOOK AT THE AUDIENCE & THE BAND! It’s ALL OF US!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Take it from a “black girl” with Irish Southern roots = My spirit MOVES when I listen to this music! What our beautiful eclectic AMERICA is built upon ! 👏🏽💯💪🏽💝💕💕💕
I like the way they combined southern rock with a bit of R&B.
OMG!!!
This is exactly the video I was looking for after listening to my succession of other videos!
Thank You Lord!
You knew my mind.
I always like The Doobie Brothers, because they are a friendly kind brotherly love, kind of old Southern rock group from my growing up years in the '70's!
We even sang this song, and other Doobie Brothers songs at our summer camp from 1975-1977!
Old Black Water, too.
About a year ago, I was really depressed one day, and I had a feeling to listen to The Doobie Brothers songs, and the feeling was right, because listening to these songs delivered me right out of my depression.
Well, thankfully I'm not depressed today, I just wanted to stop by and visit this video. 🤓
My absolute fave! Never gets old. 🎉
I was in high school in the 70’s and I was spoiled , thinking every generation of musicians was gonna be as good Boy was I wrong But eternally grateful to have there
I was thinking the same thing, I’m class of ‘87, but we both had it so good didn’t we? We didn’t know it was fleeting…
Definitely a downhill slide to the abyss. I blame the promotion of low IQ ghetto rap jungle noises over real music. It's degraded music over all. Not to mention the violent culture and idiocy it represents.
I graduated high school in 1974. I still find amazing stuff. But when not looking, I could never get tired of so much.
I’m with you - incredible talent- we definitely lived through our renaissance- of music
One of them had cancer like me. Horrific disease! Graduation SAMOHI 1972. Then US Army. Returned to beaches of Malibu and had too much fun but, Doobie bros and Fleetwood Mac kept me going. Stevie Nicks is my neighbor and is very quiet. On Tour mostly. Great years of music 1960s-70s
You can"t imagine how great it was for those of us born at just the right time!
Absolutely couldn’t agree more those were the days x
A different and better world. I really miss it.
SO True,We saw the best Ever from all decades combined .
What was it?74 or 75.i was in high school as well and remember this song. And format everyday in auto shop. Then catch the bus for home and become a doobie brother myself.
Much respect to the 1970,s and best decade of music ever but if it wasn't for UA-cam most of us would never have seen this performance. So score one for the 21st century!
lol i was in jr high and 14. loved it and the music of the 70s
And all of us Old Geezers having flashbacks!
This kind of music was AM radio "bread& butter" tunes.
I guess you didn't hear of the 60s, Really?
50's, 60's & 70's ~ the ģreatest
Pat Simmons is such a wonderful and underrated musical artist (along with all the doobie brothers)
Exactly what I was going to say. So versatile, so talented, to underappreciated. His compositions ran the gamut from bluegrass to Michael-McDonald-style light/jazzy rock. He could do it all.
Pat Simmons has always been The Doobies’ “secret sauce”. True authenticity as a versatile musician. And he was able to adapt while maintaining the band’s distinctive Doobieness once McDonald joined and took the band’s music in a more R&B direction. I love Simmons. Look at how much fun he’s having performing one of the biggest hits of a decade full of massive hits!
i can't even fathom that the audience didn't fuck up their participation bit. crowds these days could NEVER get the tempo right like these people did. salute to them.
they were paying attention and enjoying the performance, not preoccupied with their phones to get the video to post later.
The early Doobie Brothers' music kept me sane when I was in the Army, and I never get tired of hearing them. Decades later, I can finally say, "Thanks, guys. I'm still listening to the music!"
I think they kept many of us sane, thank you for your service as well
What was some of the other ones was you into Allman Brothers you know big acoustic bands n just so many I think ZEP did it for me, in the light, brynstomp, when I had my first Walkman with the headphones working on the offshore supply boat I will bring my guitar but I couldn't even tune it but I still beat the s*** out of it a lot and learn to play did you ever try any instruments or what tell me some of the bands you digging on back then or now
...first heard them in the army too - Germany 1971 - 1974...wasn't until much later that I 'got' the 'Doobie' reference...
And they'll be asking, What's a Doobie?
@Mimeh53 Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Now this is music!!!!!
The harmonies on this version are gorgeous
Michael McDonald is in this performance, adding yet another layer of perfect harmony, not to mention that great honky-tonk piano groove.
As a teenager I rediscovered the immense talent these guys had , underrated isn't even the word
Brings back Such incredible, strong memories.
So good! There will never be talent like the 70’s again. Take me back
God, what i wouldn't do to go back to that decade for just 1 year. say 1973 or '74. music was so infused with jaz, blues, southern rock.....it was perfect for me then and still is for me now.
TheUnclerickie take me with you ... but I won’t come back to 2018....
I would go back but as an adult. I was only about 3 or 4.
I’m with. you Need a time machine
Shotgun!
Same I wasn't born until late 80s but I'd love to live as an adult in the 70s
4:42 Perfect blend of old doobie brothers era and later doobie brothers. The transition is so audible here
It's AMAZING how well I can blend in with the Doobie Brothers when I'm alone in my truck!
TexasBoy1965 Lolol and I’m in with Aretha! 👍🏼
😆
🤣🤣🤣
Your voice always sounds good to yourself record yourself once
Awesome! Thank you for driving
This, my friends, is what we call A Jam!
This was my favorite "What's Happening" episode.
Pat!!! You don't even know how much you have influenced music. This is timeless. It will be covered perpetually
Pure Doogie bros...1975...!
Part of my high school years.
I was 16 in 1975. They were a
Staple....in my youth they knew
How to satisfy their audience.
They live!!!!!
Pat Simmons is a legend.
I'm A True Northerner, but i ❤LOVE❤ THIS song soooooooo, friggin', Much!!❤❤
I used to see the Doobie Brothers as a teenager in the 70’s, they were fantastic and yes, we all sang along!!! This is one of my favorite videos ever, I feel the joy emanating from the band and the audience!❤❤
Their harmony is impeccable on this song.
10 generations from now will STILL be listening to the Doobie Brothers. What a sound!
They sure won’t be listening to Kanye.
Doobies - background to my teenage years, genius like this generation won’t appear again for a very long time.
By the 11th generation they might forget, tho
It will be obscurata.
It's obscurata already.
Doesn't speak to the quality of the music though.
Very good act.
I've played with guys this good.
Never played with a band with guys this good that sang this well though.
I think for 70s studio musician supergroups you'll probably have Steely Dan in 100 years popping up. Several notable tunes. Maybe "what a fool believes" from these guys. That's a nice piece of pop for some hipster to cite in 2123.
@@andersdottir1111 they sure won’t be listening to Train’s “I Got You” since they stole some of their lyrics and might sue them.
I was in highschool the first time I heard this song.Did we not have the BEST music of any generation before or since ???? Love this song and Patrick Simmons !!! It makes me feel young again !!!!
Great mix of soul, rock, dixieland, country and Americana..
I was born 1953 we had the best bands ever Hendrix Joplin Morrison the stones and the list goes on not like the music today thank you for all your great songs
OMG The GREAT MUSIC OF THE 70S!!!!
Rest In Peace, John. You were a part of my youth.
These guys are among the finest rock music has to offer, and they're still at it 50+ years later! The great Doobies.
Great Song, Great Group and Great memories of 1975, I was in high school when this came out and I thought it was so Funky- It still is!!
Love this song ! Thanks❤
FINALLY! Long overdue but you deserve it guys! CONGRATULATIONS! WE LOVE YOU!!! 🎸🥁🎼🎸
ROCK HALL INDUCTEES 2020 ❤
CLASSIC!!! ✂️
two things i always tell people i really miss in rock and roll music today, the great harmonizing vocals of the 60s and 70s, and the boogie woogie piano of the 50s first wave.
Feel in love with the band and song watching What's Happening show ❤
one of the greatest live bands. Its unreal the sound they push out on stage.
Just saw them in October amazing
My sister and in just took both my parents to see them live in Grand Rapids Michigan and they sounded AMAZING! It was like we were back in the 70s with my parents and we were left with the beautiful memories that will live on forever! ✌️
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}

Doobie Brothers, what more can I say but keep on rockin.
best times ever the 70's music was great
Yes, I saw these guys back in the day. Three-day cow pasture jam. Still, love it!!
Fabulous fun memories 💖💛💚
Grew up listening to this music! My parents were big Doobie Bros fans! Love it!
LOVE!
Remember when Rerun dropped the recorder from under his rain coat? Memories of childhood...
hell Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaah! LOL loved that scene! thanx for THAT flashback!
+stephanie a west I watched it last night with my son!
Cool! Lol
Yes I most certainly do that funny episode of " What's Happening." Where Rerun had to sneak in a Tape Recorder to secretly record an Illegal Bootleg concert of the Doobies.
AmsterdamHeavy too funny, I totally remember that epi!!
The Doobies! Git cha HIGH! Yawww!
Thank you for all the years!
Now that's real music!
Such fun sounds!!! So much appreciated. I love you darling. 💋 😘
Pat Simmons is my favorite in the band. Love him.
Great song great band ❤ 2024
i REALLY needed to hear this. it's like grounding myself.
Awesome live in Camden 6/23/2002!!!
The Doobie Brothers bring me back to being a kid and remind me of my dad.
Black water -- very popular -- like it!
Man these guy's were great back in the day great stuff "
That felt good!
I was a radio discjockey for over 25 of those years. My kinda music to be sure. Learned it on guitar to the great pleasure of the girls. 🎸
They were one of the greats.
This is pure magic!
Awesome!❤
AWESOME band!
Doobie's 🏹❤
God bless the Doobies, they're one of my favorite bands and I 'specially love this groovy lil' number .
Skunk Baxter on the steel guitar...the man is a genius with stringed instruments
I get to see my favorite bands tonight in Edmonton. I'm so excited! I listened to these guys in the 70's as a kid. My parents would by me they're albums.
Man, Just Such A Fantastic Song! Everything From The Lyrics To The Slide Guitar Solos And The Timing. Definitely One Of The Greatest Rock Bands Of All Time. If Not, They Are Up There With Pink Floyd Or Led Zeppelin.
Agree! Saw the in Nacogdoches Texas, at the Stephen F.Austin State University Coliseum back in 79! Just awesome!
I feel the same way, ah the 70 ies
Television sitcom (What's Happening) introduced me to this group and this wonderful song.
Which sitcom?
Man this song will never ever die! As long as there are ppl on the planet this song will be played daily. Quite the accompliment! This is really the only waybtobstay immortal
Just to think their music is just as popular today as it was back then ... even better! Bands today will never understand the real voices with real instruments behind them.
Awesome Guitar
You know they play this in stoner heaven man....
lol
these guys are still great! and nice!
I so love this song!
I'm about to see these awesome folks in 3 days... Checks one off the bucket list 🤙 I can't wait... Cheers everyone
when I first heard this song I fell in love with their music
Oh and by all means Mr Porter! Insane bass player! God bless rest in peace!
The good ole days before auto tune. This song brings back great memories.
Yep. Before autotune, you actually had to have talent back in those days. The Kartrashians would have never made it back then, maybe as call girls, but that's it, lol
They had autotune back then, it just was very poor quality. In this same concert, Keith Knudsen used autotune to sing "Sweet Maxine"
-also the Kardashians aren't singers, they're "models"
Just...sick.
I'm so distracted by his gorgeous hair, beautiful voice, and the inlays in his guitar. lol
This song take me right back to 2nd grade.
I would love to have Pat’s hair !
Love. This song Soo much. ❤
Can't wipe the smile off Pat :D....goood times goood days!
Real people
I got to see them in their early years in Monroe, Louisiana. The water was really dark from the roots of the trees
yes i never forget this song of my chilhood in 1974, everithing was beatifull.
truth
Hey, Pat and Tom, loved the book!
I think we can all agree this will be a classic for rest of mankind, congrats on their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction! 2020 had one upside.
What took so friggin long for hof???
Love this music!
My daughter got a neck tattoo with not my initials but "Black Water" because it is my favorite song. She says she must have heard it thousands of times (adding "thanks, Mom").
I grew up in Marin county ca..they were in Lucas valley road ❤
Songs about the south just set us rebels apart from this crazy world.
thats a beautiful guitar hes playing
This song was so essential that I can’t say how many times I’d be waiting for someone to get out of their vehicle but they would turn this song up and joyfully sing the chorus at full volume until it was done. Perfect!
If you listened to Black Water when it was released, hitting the radio stations, & when you bought it as soon as it hit the stores, you will never forget these lyrics as well as how you felt the first time you heard it. 🎶💜🎶
...My Mom has that album. I've been listening to it since I was 8 years old. Wish I'd been a teen when this was released!
We used to sing it on the school bus! :)
I had bought the 45 rpm when it came out. Black Water was the B side. Another Park Another Sunday was the A side and that is the reason I bought the 45rpm. For the A side.
@@garyoconnordbaairrepair7775 Even the writer of Black Water was stunned. He says himself Another Park is the better song.
I really like the guitar, both the playing and the revolving Hammond organ speaker it's played through...
J'avais 14 ans en 74. J'avais appris la chanson par cœur ❤️❤️👍
