Today we’re going on an ultimate Philly cheesesteak tour - we’re going to eat 5 different cheesesteaks in Philadelphia! #Philly #cheesesteak #Philadelphia
Pat's King of Steaks (goo.gl/maps/Atz65Afjh6PKKGGr7) - Cheesesteak - $12 - First, Pat's King of Steaks, where it all started. At first it didn’t include cheese, so it was just a steak sandwich. At Pat’s the steak is frizzled, and they generously add cheese whiz. Even though locals say Pat’s is a tourist trap, they deserve credit for being the original and starting it all. I would say it was a fantastic experience, and even just being there eating a cheesesteak there on the corner with its history was cool. And their cheese fries were amazing.
Geno's Steaks (goo.gl/maps/HJ3Vp9nLKMLxBytz6) - Mushroom cheesesteak - $12 - Next up, when you eat at Pat’s, there’s no way you can’t walk across the intersection to Geno's Steaks, known for its giant logo and bright lights. Their steak is unchopped, just thin slices, but it’s nice and tender. We actually tried a mushroom provolone cheese steak here. Overall, it was pretty pure, not the best, but not bad.
L & M Variety Store (goo.gl/maps/VYm3ukTixUt7CxGt7) - Cheesesteak - $5 - Next up for one of the common local stops to eat a Philly cheesesteak, a corner convenience store. For $5 in Philadelphia, it doesn’t get much better. As JL mentioned, one of the best things about a corner store is that you often know the owners and can customize it how you like it.
Dalessandro's Steaks (goo.gl/maps/Lj2dpKzYfHTDJUCi6) - Cheesesteak - $11 - Another local famous popular is Dalessandro's Steaks, and they have a line to show. We ordered their classic cheesesteak, with cheese whiz and onions. Overall, it was good, but the steak was a little overly shredded to the point of almost being minced meat.
Jim's South St. (g.page/JimsSouthSt?share) - Cheesesteak - $10.25 - Lastly to complete this cheesesteak tour of Philadelphia, we went to Jim's South St. I think this was the cheese steak that surprised both JL and I, and to be honest it was probably the best of the day. The steak was tender, the bread was soft and fluffy, and the whiz was perfectly layered on the bottom and top with plenty of grilled onions.
Additionally, though not in this video, we had 2 other cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, which were to be honest, probably the best 2 I had in Philadelphia: John's Roast Pork ( • The Ultimate PHILADELP... ) and Angelo's Pizzeria (video coming)

I too am a native but from NW Philly (Germantown) and your Host said it perfectly when you asked how we feel about Pat's. Now between Pat's and Geno's, I like Pat's but either Mark was given a "special" sandwich or Geno's stepped up their game if that is an example of what they are putting out these days. I could see detractors regarding the soggy roll. I love how JL gave Mark a mature explanation on how Pat and Geno's employee so many people....us natives need to RESPECT that!
It is refreshing to hear a young person who is so polite,respectful and a pleasure to watch.
I'm just ecstatic Mark collaborated with JL. Mark has been holding down the food game globally and JL has been doing the North East US like a champ for the last few years.

After watching Mark for the past few years. I have come to realize and respect he truly believes in the simple act of getting what you give. the respect he gives to his guests and the places he visits is top notch. He even goes out of his way to pronounce certain words the way locals will say them. Bless up! And btw i just farted.

That dude in the keegles Jersey needs to switch it up. It probably stinks worse than the eagles do. I know you have a pride and all but give it a rest. They are the luckiest sports city around. Besides the Phillies run in the late 2000s and early 2010s, their teams blow. The keegles got lucky that one time. The 76ers are trashier than a pats and Genos steak. Them places are tourist traps and not even on the level of the other spots. Other places upped their game and pats and genos stayed the same. If u ain’t from there(I’m proud not to be from there) then try angelos after you try those two and you will like that wayyyyyy better, and they have slamming pizza to boot.

She just wants all the political coverage and benefits and cover to be fought for by someone else. Would Mark ever put a pride flag on her/they're videos and be honest about who she is so that people can decide what they think about "trans".

My only time in Philly, back in 93, I only went to Jim's on South St. I ate wit with whiz. It dripped down to my elbows and was awesome.
I am a Philly girl and in the 90's Jim's was everything. Nowadays they are also a tourist trap. If you ever come back go to Dalessandro's or Cleaver's. Jim's is still okay but long tourist lines and overpriced.

Nothing like a proper Philly cheese steak from Philly, use to always snag one when we'd pass through there... Sadly they aren't the same anywhere else and I now live on the west coast.
Got one here and it was literally cubed steak chunks with onions(raw), mushroom and pepperjack cheese.. I was so disappointed since it was labeled as a "Philly steak and cheese".

The cornerstone, convenience store, Bodega, papi shop whatever you want to call it, is universal. Never thought I'll see Mark getting food in one but I'm glad he did. We got one with a fried chicken spot in that back in my area lol

As a born and raised Philadelphian, The best places to get authentic great tasting cheese steaks is to go deep into the neighborhoods and visit the Papi store's. I'm happy that it was incorporated in this video. Can't go wrong with a Papi store cheesesteak.

You literally can get a cheese steak at any poppy store. Look I just asked my son to buy me one, just from watching you guys. Born and raised and living in Philadelphia. WE do have some awesome staples.

Cornerstore cheesesteak looked the best. I'm from the burbs and you can pretty much find a decent cheesesteak at any pizza place. It's awesome.
