- TODAY I go on an EPIC Philly cheesesteak tour around downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I go to two of the tourist hot spots (Pat's and Geno's), two spots recommended by locals (Angelo's and Sonny's) and finally I buy a cheesesteak from a food cart (Philly Cheese steak & water ice).

The cheese steak in every restaurant looks delicious!
The first one put a lot of cheese, and it made me happy to see the cheese flowing out!
However, the second one’s condiment section looks very tempting! It’s great that you can pick up cherry peppers for free!
The queue at the third one was so unbelievable that it was in the United States, haha! The checkout clerk was too calm!
The thin strips of onions from the fourth one go well with the diced beef! The fifth one also looks great!
I thought every one was your favorite, luckily you ranked, haha!

Zane, as the more-or-less 4,750th reviewer of Philly cheesesteaks in Philly there really is not a lot to add as to what has already with said & eaten. My humble input is to say that the roll counts most! Amorosos is a commercial bakery selling to everyone, including Pat's & Genos! Angelo's bakes his own rolls! Sonny's uses top-notch Liscios rolls. The other top-tier roll is from Scarcones! True there are hundreds of restaurants, Bodegas, delis & food carts selling Philly-style cheeBodega, so the chase goes on! My favorite is Donkey's Place across the river in NJ! By the way, Whizz is not even real cheese it's a 'processed cheese-food' with additives! LOL Stick with provalone!

Pats and genos aren’t visited by locals and we don’t eat whiz. It’s for tourists. Also amoroso rolls aren’t commonly used. They’re the bottom of the barrel rolls honestly. Locals get American or provolone
True.. .The upper class places make their own Cheeze whiz not the Craft stuff with that shady taste. the meat makes craft whiz taste decent.. but a Cheez whiz made from scratch? Excellent..
@@wisdoma4860 while true elite places sometimes make their own, it’s still by far the least ordered by locals. John’s doesn’t even carry it. Angelo’s stopped making it for over a year but just started again.
Welcome back to the US of A. Crazy sandwich marathon but I will try Sonny’s next time as well as south st vibe. Hahah be careful else you may not fit into your custom made suit from Thailand!

You didn’t go to Jim’s Steaks on South St but maybe it was closed then as it was for a while due to fire.
In the Italian Market is George’s which makes very good tripe sandwiches if you are adventurous or already like tripe.

Hey Zane. I’ve been thinking of you because I’ve been running around Da Nang, Vietnam trying to find a patch! I also collect patches from every country. Where did you end up finding one in Vietnam? I have a layover in Hanoi airport when I leave on Monday, I’m hoping to find one there 🙏🏻 I’ve searched every souvenir shop, market, bookstore, and even sewing shops to no avail 🥲 any advice on where to find them in future countries in SE Asia would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling I may have a hard time finding them in some countries. Glad you made it back to 🇺🇸 safely!
Thank you! Yes it can be challenging and I also had to hunt. Interestingly enough I was able to find a shop in Hanoi that had a bunch of patches I couldn’t find in other countries. It’s in the main area of the city

The meat on a cheesesteak is never diced. It is sliced or sliced and then shredded right on the griddle. You can easily get two meals out of one cheesesteak.

Shit, that’s a lot of Philly sandwiches in one day! I don’t plan on going to Philadelphia in the near future. But just wondering, how is the mass transit system, Metro, Public Bus? You did a lot of public transportation while you were in SE Asia, could you highlight some of it in your next vlogs? Thanks in advance!
The subway isn't too safe right now. There's always a good amount of buses though. I usually do Uber if I can't walk for safety reasons.

Food trucks/carts can make a good steak in Philly. Most tend to be less expensive than the brick and mortar places.
Finely chopped usually indicates cheaper cuts of beef, whereas medallion cuts are most definitely ribeye.
I absolutely LOVE philly cheesesteak sandwiches! We had one place that had it here in Macau (China), but they stopped selling it, unfortunately. Nothing beats the ones I've had in Pennsylvania though, particularly Philly! It's also nice to see Philly in video outside of Kensington.

It is all relative mate. What is minimum wage in Oz? About $22 an hour? I just checked and it is $7.25 US in Pennsylvania...(of course, employers can pay more). That translates to just over $11 Australian. So in theory, if you worked a minimum wage, for a $15US sandwich, you'd need to work the equivalent of just over one hour or so in Australia, but at $7.25 an hour in the US, you'd have to work 2 hours! Sorry man, don't feel too sorry for you.

I remember my 1st trip to PHL. My host took me to a steak shop I won’t name that is on your video. Wasn’t impressed. Then I went to Pats. That was 25 years ago. I’ve been back to PHL at least 20+ times since and will ONLY eat Cheesesteaks (Wiz Wit) at Pats. 23:05
