I know it by heart, but it still moves me each time, 42 years later. And seeing your emotion is even more overwhelming. Thank you for making his music and lyrics travel through space and time, as he retired in 2016 and doesn't do it himself anymore.

It was inspired by JJ's own family history. His father was a Polish Jew and his mother was a German Jew... One day, he saw some family pictures taken in the 30's and behind some of them was written "deporté". So he writes this beautiful and implicit song as an hommage to his family and to every holocaust victims
