Michael Jones was - and still is- one of JJG's best friend. Jean-Jacques actually named his son (who's now in his forties) Michael ;) Please my two fav now : "Famille" and "Puisque tu pars".
Michael Jones was born to a Welsh soldier father in 1944 and a French Norman mother. He speaks French perfectly. His Norman grandparents were cousins of my maternal grandfather and attended his wedding in 1934.
@@maryb508 You are rigth in 1952, I made a mistake, His parents met in 1944 in Caen and married in 1948. His mother Suzanne LALLEMAN was born in 1925 in Saint-Georges-Montcocq (in the hamlet of "la Petellerie") in Lower Normandy, 5 km from my current home... My maternal grandparents were married in 1934 in La Haye-Bellefond not far from there and his grandparents lived very close to this place at that time. My mother was born in 1936 and I in 1963.
A another great song with JJ Goldman + M Jones and Carole Frederiks Besides, these 3 artists have a whole album with magnificent songs.
Michael Jones is fluent or at least proficient in French. Those artists who sing in languages they don't know learn them phonetically, without ever seeing the foreign lyrics written (to see the lyrics, or texts for people who want to speak another language, is the best way to get a strong accent).
What a divine surprise ! An American listening to old but good French songs ?!? You made my day "D", with your excellent channel that I just discovered instantly and by pure chance... 👍❤ (If you can, listen also to Michel Berger's songs like : "Message Personnel" / "Pour me Comprendre" / "Le Paradis Blanc" / "Voyou" / "Seras-tu là ?" etc...)
Oooops !
Goldman is good. Yes, Né en 17 à Leidenstadt is great, but also Comme Toi, and Puisque Tu Pars, which is one of my favorites. "Je te donne" = "I give you (something)". "I give myself to you" would be "je me donne" ("I give myself") "à toi" ("to you").
That song has been making me like music since childhood. Michael Jones is a great guitarist and singer, i would suggest listening to 'Des Vies' by Goldman, Jones and Fredericks where there is a purely great guitar solo, very untied in the style of whom this song is a tribute to IMO.
Actually you don't have to learn a language to sing it, words are just sounds you make with your mouth, so you only need to know which sound you have to make after the other! Of course if you want to have a very clean accent you'll have to practice a lot, and it's better to know what the song is about if you're going to interprete it, but you could not know the meaning of any of the words in the song and still sing it perfectly! 😊 (of course some languages are easier than others, just like when speaking, depending on how many sounds there are, if it's close to a language you already speak, etc)

This song, who wasn't writter for it at first, became a symbol against racism. A uge success in France !

it'ss about brotherhood or just humanity and acceptance, no racisme
JE TE DONNE = I GIVE YOU
