@@brokenwrench404 Yes, I have a PS5 and it feels like it was made for it. In many ways, it is, since they’re both Sony. I’ve played Ghosts of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 Remastered, and Spider-Man 2, and they’re all flawlessly rendered. The B9’s Game mode does an incredible job on its own, but you can also tweak it to your liking in the picture settings.

This comparison is great! Please keep them coming!
From where I am watching, the B9 has more brightness, you can see much more details and the colors seem to be more realistic, while A95L has the the better black levels and the color volume (colors seem to pop more, but seem unrealistic in comparison with B9).
Funny, this seems to me like a comparison a few years back between Sony and Samsung TVs where Sony was known for natural colors and calibration in their TVs, while Samsung made its TVs colorful, vibrant but unrealistic in order to impress the consumers and sell more.
If you have the time, I would be interested to see some sport content and cable TV in comparison.
I really don’t understand why in Europe we can’t get the 65” display in B9…

And this year Sony upgraded the contrast control and processing to control the luminance levels and color saturation of every tiny MiniLED in the new larger Backlight Master Drive. So The BRAVIA 9 has deeper blacks, and is significantly brighter and the greatly increased contrast ratio with the deep blacks capability and very high peak luminance is expertly controlled by Sony's new 2nd generation of the XR Processor rendering very dynamic and detailed images form all content. Some UA-camrs just show the video and don't describe it properly. We can't see what the person in front of the TV is seeing.

This is a really interesting comparison, as a proud owner of the A95L I have got to say that the Bravia 9 looks very impressive with the extra detail, but I’m not sure if that extra detail would be the directors intent?
As after watching it back in my A95L the dark scenes on Batman look a bit more fitting on the Oled ?
But I definitely like the convenience of a LED with no burn in risk etc .
If I had the space and budget for a big screen then I would definitely consider the Bravia 9.
Last year I compared the X95L vs A95L and felt a bit underwhelmed with the Sony X95L so I chose to buy the A95L instead .

That comparison is literally day and night so long as you understand how tv upgrades work. Yes. Even the Sony white OLED of 23/24 would be an upgrade much less a generational 2 QD-OLED panel.
Not sure how long you’ve followed me but I was a C1 owner in 77”, it was professional calibrated. I’m not saying C1 is junk but if you feel you want to upgrade you are old enough to where from flagship you do see gains.

I don't think either of them look "so much better", they both have strengths and weaknesses. It's amazing how far LCD has come. Oled still rains supreme, but that doesn't mean oled is the best choice for everyone. Though I'm not sure why someone would buy a 65" Bravia 9 and watch CNN/FOX News all day, but they can if they want without worrying about burn-in. Have all LG oled now, except for one older sony LCD. I would have purchased all Sony Oleds but the LG was always less money and since I use external speakers, the awesome speakers on the Sonys are wasted. Imo, where Sony is so good is at making older content like the Golden Girls or the thousands of non HD and HDR shows look so darn good. Just about any TV can take a 4k HDR signal and make it look good.

I don't know if it's the camera but in Troy, the B9 looks more natural and the only choice really between the two.
In the others, it's a tough call but I think the B9 wins because of detail. I think OLEDs try to get around their APL limitations by darkening dark scenes and putting all that juice into the bright objects. It's the right call especially if the TV is used in a dark room.
Subtitles which 50% of folks use could literally change the pecking order completely because subtitles are the #1 blooming offenders.

LED definitely has better near black handling than oled and almost a bi product of the blooming also i think adds to this. Other times it just presets and obvious blooming. Love big areas of hdr on LED where the oled apl would immediately mute that large bright area. But smaller areas, specular highlights far superior in oled. Trades forward and back. How long until we get a tv that does both i wonder!

7:25 It’s moments in dark scenes like these that make me realize and wonder how many additional details have I been missing by having an OLED. Don’t get me wrong, I love the richness of OLED technology’s colors, but is it something that I’m willing to give up in lieu of seeing the full picture? Some directors purposefully hide things in movies with specific shadow tricks, but if an OLED is going to crush them out, then you never get to truly enjoy those Easter eggs. Once they figure out their 4-port HDMI 2.1 issue by either utilizing a different chipset maker or making their own, I’ll be ready to join Sony’s mini LED crew.

    • @paulcox2447
      @paulcox2447 Місяць тому

Turn up your brightness. It's literally that simple to fix. There is no inherent issue, it's just out of the box settings.
If I turn my c1 to 55-60 brightness it looks a lot more like an LED and has the shadow detail you would expect. You still don't have to deal with any bloooming so even if you had the tiniest bit of raised black, you won't notice it. Auto dynamic contrast may also open up your shadow detail depending on the tv's processing. If you have an LG, put the setting on low and it will do that.
My c1 goes from looking like the A95L to looking more like the Bravia 9 just by using auto dynamic contrast on low.
That can be VERY useful for watching in a bright room.
Your gamma setting will also adjust your midtones without changing the absolute black level, so using a setting that has a 2.2 gamma instead of the 2.4 is another option.

@@AllAboutTKK Gloss would be really bad for reflections. Even in a totally dark room the TV just lighting the room would get reflections right back into the black areas and act like a mirror. I had a Gloss panel monitor long ago. Sure it presented deeper black and colors. But it was offset with that I could see myself in the monitor at all time and I turned off all the lights it was infuriating. Because my eyes was fighting to see through the reflections.
Gloss is also not really the problem or solution here. A miniLED is not going to have OLED contrast all the time. As for colors it's a QDOLED, it will just have more color gamut so that won't change. The B9 isn't actually doing anything wrong. It's people getting used to OLED contrast and crush even that makes them think they look "less". But the B9 proved in all the content here he showed the shadow detail. Sometimes contrast isn't everything. It can become artificial.
Also, if you watch content with lights on. Doesn't have to be bright. It reduces the contrast difference as well.

It's fun watching this content and I appreciate the risk you are taking actually showing REAL stuff we use a TV for. And with that we can see for movies etc. The B9 seems like it is a beast.
In all the footage the B9 won because of shadow detail, brightness capability etc. QDOLED may have the color, but not by much and in the case of the "Troy" example it was way way too saturated.
The shadow detail does look to be king on B9. Contrast and colors king on the A95L. That said, I don't know if the colors are default on the A95L or if they are pushed. Because at 9:32 the colors are too saturated on the A95L. Maybe even on the B9. I feel the A95L doesn't need any color push because it's color king, it's QDOLED period.
To know which is accurate only a mastering monitor could tell. But this is just to show what they look like. So bright at times the camera just can't handle it. Like shining a flashlight into it.
This is dark room or looks like it too. So can only imagine that in a lit room any slight weakness on the B9 like bloom or less contrast might be mitigated.

I think that ship has sailed unfortunately. Sony is primarily focused on updating picture quality year after year. Sony hasn’t supported 4x HDMI 2.1 since MediaTek implemented HDMI 2.1 on Sony TV’s in 2020 and beyond.
There’s a Pentonic 2000 MediaTek SoC with 4x HDMI 2.1 ports, but it’s limited to 8K televisions. Sony knows that the majority of their fan base consumes content rather than game on PCs or consoles.
If you need more HDMI 2.1 ports, you’ll have to look elsewhere. 144Hz is fantastic, but you’ll have to go with the G4 or one of the Samsung QD OLEDs (S90C, S95C, S90D, or S95D).
