i dont think speedruns can use the “drop no items on death” setting bc corpse run is important. personally i think thats a good thing bc i dont want to see speedrunners having lesser penalty for dying

@@fizzymilk2528 ikr, food is a giant part of the game but I don't want to run around 2-3 biomes back in order to find some obscure materials, just let me eat a carrot, carrot stew, and honey to have decent food buffs that I can use while collecting copper, or God bless making my way out of the mountains so I can find a singular mushroom to make wolf skewers. How I think that should be fixed is add more farmable crops (no need to go crazy, just a few) and add a meat drop for almost every single mob
This is the meat and potatoes of the repeatability of the patch, and will be transformative of the game as a whole. Putting my neck tail on the line and going out to say, this will be one of the most remembered aspects of any patch ever. Challenges, speed runs, content and many other things will be enhanced by this.
I just wish they had an option specifically to turn off having to refill torches, hearths, and braziers individually. I don't mind the resource grind too much (I might increase by 50% for ease of other players on our server), but screw the torches constantly burning out. I do not necessarily want insane amounts of resources, I just don't want to have to refill torches constantly.
@@keyoke69which brings another point...why can't I make chain?! I can make magical swords, springs, mechanical objects, windmills and lava forges, but I can bang out some chain links?
hey there, I see the World Modifiers tab if I want to start game on what looks like Dedicated Server option, but do you know how I would set the World Modifiers if I wanted to host the Valheim server on a docker container, so that the game server is up 24x7? Lmk if you have any insight or success with it on docker, thanks!
I’m glad there adding this, it was very much needed. I play it as a single player game only so, I’m changing portals to let me carry metals through them and toning down raids a bit. I didn’t know though that skills get reduced on death until now. I might tone that down later too.
Yep, it's pretty horrible too, especially at high skill. You lose 5% of your skill progress on death. Which at near 100 skill in something, means 5 levels. And you lose from all of them, all 30 of them, including running or fishing lol
I actually really like that you can change the portals to allow teleporting metal, using the cart for land travel to get silver has been a massive pain since it gets so heavy, now I’ll just need to get materials to the forward base. Also as always great video, very concise and informative
Thank you so much. I agree, I think once you’ve played the game to the end once the way they intend it makes sense that players don’t want to do the same grind for hauling mats over and over.
more choice for the player is never a bad thing. All of this will also make the game more accessible to more people as well. some folks just can't commit lots of time to gaming (poor souls) so they will get the most out of the new world options I think.
For some things, I really like the idea for the portals to transport metals. When I got to the Iron Age, I had 5 swamps that I explored and only found 1 crypt for iron. I made an iron run world, which then made me explore my home worlds swamps less. Now, I can keep exploring instead of cheesing it
Buffing the enemies to 200 pct is great, at least it is necessary to have defences up now. Only setting I still miss is a low food setting, making it more necessary to cultivate and breed animals, without having to mine / chop too long
im glad they added a new trader. i hope eventually there’s a trader for every biome in the game, and i’d like if there were vegvisor tablets that would reveal their location kinda like boss tablets.
I am on xbox test. Is great that I can try the features out on the seed I am already on. Complete game changer. I set no base raids and building with not having to get msterials. You still need to explore and find resources to get the recipies but after that just build. Makes it so much better for solo playing. Also setting portal to port all instead of having to sail ore or eggs etc home is great.
Well that combat difficulty doesn't really matter because if you have best gear enemies will just stagger you in one hit and then kill you with second hit. So at 200% damage they will just kill you 0.5 secounds faster.
Wish they would have included more quality of life things that we got from Valheim Plus, like increasing Stack Sizes.. Biggest complaint is the lack of items we can carry!
Thanks for the vid Nick, especially for the additional info from the devs. If you are speaking to them next time, would be great if they could add these numbers to the description field ;-)
if someone could answer this .... the only question I cannot find an answer for is with the world modification sliders ..... everything I have seen is for hosted servers .... but what about for paid dedicated servers .... will this be available on my dedicated server and how will I get it to work
The answer is definitely yes. However the how part is not up to iron gate but the server providers themselves. However I suspect there will just be options in the dashboard somewhere. This information will be available to you once it hits love servers.
love the lower penalty and not dropping your stuff on casual, only must turn on setting for me wanting less of a survival and more of a fun open world experience
Does the no build cost only apply to structure peices like walls, floors, doors, and ceilings? Or does it apply to literally everything? Like Boats, portals, crafting stations, etc...
Everything you build with the hammer or cultivator. So yes, boats portals crafting stains are all no build cost. You do have to find and pickup the parts to be the ability to build them.
Yeah the metals through portal makes this game a lot more tolerable as a single player. Otherwise you have to make dozens of forward bases everywhere which takes ages... I like to have one gargantuan base near spawn where I do most/all non-biome specific stuff. Also without multiple people it makes a lot of sense to lower the death penalty as normally you would be relying on the players you are with to help return your stuff.
I'm on Xbox, patiently awaiting Ashlands Update. I wonder if i tweak these settings once, but set them all back to normal afterwards will negatively impact my vanilla playthrough. Do these modifiers change the background metadata used for metrics analysis by the devs? Surely IronGate collect meta data from each and every user. Right?
Awesome, actually took the plunge to play with some of the difficulty settings. Basically did hardcore but no portals, +1.5 resources and fewer base raids. I imagine base raids in hardcore require you to do terrain wall/ditch setup and I refuse to do that cheesy crap. xD I'd love them to patch out the terrain defenses, let monsters jump or climb and make terrain destructible.
Do you know if there's an ingame console command to change the world modifier for portals, specifically to change them to allow all items through? I know there's a command to change some world modifiers in game, but the portal one doesn't seem to be an option unless I've missed something. The reason I'm asking is because I thought about changing it on a dedicated server. If there's a command, would be easier. Otherwise would have to pull last save on the server, change the world modifier locally, then reupload to server. If anyone figures anything out, let me know! And as always Nick, thanks for the great videos!
Casual mode - you dont drop any items. Casual death penalty - do not dropped equipped gear ??? Shouldnt casual DP be all items and easy be equipped gear?
Does anyone know of a list for the modifiers in Devcommands? You can't modify the world on a dedicated server currently and I need to do it with devcommands.
Hey! I just started playing this game with some friends for a few weeks, but I dont see the world modifiers. Is this update not out yet? Or do I have to enable them first somewhere?
@@NickRawcliffe Haven't tried, but is truly everything transportable - even tamed wolves, boars and loxes that are marked to follow? That would be really useful and natural option. It is pain to transport creatures between islands.
Typo or oddity, but why does casual mode say NO SKILL DRAIN on death, but when you manually select "casual" from the on death slider, it says "MINIMAL" skill drain... So... which is it? Also, still a bit disappointed, I just want a mode where you don't lose any skill progress (never liked this mechanic, especially since it's percentile, not flat, making it much more painful the more "skillful" you are, making 100 skill in something virtually untenable for how long they take, odds are you'll die to something stupid anyway, no matter how good you are) and the rest VANILLA, I don't mind corpse runs if need be, just let me keep my skill progress (maybe more resources as well, so I can actually be creative with the building and not need a week of farming, would also partially circumvent the lame mechanic of having to deal with non-regenerating resources). Makes me sad now lol No skill drain should just be a tick box IMHO
Only thing i wish they would change is having all these options as check boxes. like i would love to not need a million resources, but i also still want some lvl of difficulty and get attack randomly. I like a few aspects of every option but not 1 option in totality.
Tunics are for men from this period. That is the “male” clothing variant. There aren’t bottoms options from hildir yet at all. Just top pieces. Therefore you pair them with existing bottoms.
