DIY LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER USING THRIFT STORE FINDS/BUDGET BOHO MODERN DECOR

- In this video, I make over a bland gray living room to surprise my son’s girlfriend. I infuse the room with boho modern charm, cozy texture, and rust orange accents in just three days for under $300! Projects include painting a black accent wall, creating a TV console from a thrift store shelf, installing wood slats as a wall accent, hanging a TV, installing floating shelves, changing out a dated ceiling fan for an amazing thrift store wicker lighting fixture, making a sisal rope ottoman, creating modern wall art from curbside canvases, using a thrifted alarm clock as a unique picture frame, making a pillow from two placemats, covering Dollar Tree collapsible bins with rattan placemats, hanging a faux plant, and finding and styling a number of great thrift store finds including a $35 secretary desk.

The makeover looks amazing!! I especially like the tv wall. I can’t believe my favorite thing in the room is adding the placemats to the dollar store baskets 😂 That’s a brilliant way to customize cheap storage.
Sherry, two things make you so valuable for these makeovers: 1. You appreciate and have a good eye for many different styles and 2. You aren’t afraid to let your heart lead you! This was total success and it was fabulous. I did my 30 yo son’s room in an industrial boho crossover and spent very little money and it still looks good 3 years later. I, too, appreciate most styles and always have a touch of crossover in every room. It adds the spice that keeps things from looking cookie cutter! My youngest daughter has a colorful boho room and has several colorful cow prints hanging over her bed and it totally works! I picked up SO much inspiration from today’s video, Sherry! ✨✨✨

If I had to name my decorating style, it would probably be fancy farmhouse-rustic-cottage core-boho-industrial-eclectic...I abhor the way you walk into some homes and feel like you’ve walked into a store - especially when you can easily look around and tell what store everything came from! I think good decor is a very personal mix of styles, and if you come home and smile when you walk in the door, you’ve nailed it. 😊

What an amazing makeover! Truthfully, I was nervous when you began to paint the walls and trim in kettle black but it turned out so very well. Among the many tasteful touches, I was most impressed with the TV wall. The floating shelves; the hanging bookcase; the accents, and the addition of the furring strips were genius. Also, the couch looked cleaner and newer with the touches of contrast in texture and color. Sherry, this was way more than just creative content for your channel. You gave us an awareness of how impactful a tasteful and comfortable room environment can be when building relationships. Amayah will someday grow past the BoHo style but she will never forget your gift of how you honored her spirit with this living room makeover. Well done!

I would love to see decorators deal with the fact that if you own an older home the walls may be plaster. Hanging ANYTHING (except lightweight items that double sided tape MAY work with) is a challenge if you later want to move or change out your decorations.
Absolutely perfect results, she is extremely blessed to have received this labor of love.

What a creative and pretty makeover on a tight budget. I truly don’t understand how people can live in all white, black, and gray rooms…it’s so depressing. You added some much needed color. Love it!
All I can say is....WOW! I absolutely love the transformation. Those furring strips made a wonderful accent to the wall. Loved all the black on the cart and columns at the stairs. Made the wood show up more beautiful. Love the pops of orange... Great job on everything!!! ❤️
I love that you changed that to a warm welcoming space. Her initial reaction of “I’m never getting off the couch” said it all. That was a transformation from a somewhat sterile environment to a home!
It turned out great! If I were her I would buy a big beautiful mirror for over the couch. I feel like the paintings don't "fit" this makeover the best. I think my favorite part was the wooden posts you painted black. It REALLY elevated the look of the space.

Great job. The expression of the young ladies says it all. There are so many things I am going to share with my daughter for her home and a couple I am going to use in mine. I have two matching traditional blue & white ceramic umbrella stands. I am going to make burlap covers and use them as planters for my long trunk Dracaenas. DEFINITELY the best DIY I have seen in a very long time. The filming, instructions, and time limit was on spot. Thank you.
