    Hi Dave. I have been struggling with your suggested dart grip for sometime. I have found that the darts are angled downwards when I release them because my finger is on the side of the dart point. As a result, most of my darts end up below the triple-20. I have been compensating for this by throwing the dart harder, but that reduces my accuracy. When I put my finger under the point instead of on the side of it, I get a much better release and I have no problems with the height of the dart, but I have less control of it. Do you have any suggestions on what i could do to get my darts to go higher using your grip? My grip seems to be the biggest issue holding me back from progressing. :(

    I like Eric's idea of a video series critiquing pro players throws. Comparing them to your method, pointing out their differences, how they've adapted and what your possible fixes would be could be very informative. Thanks for the great videos Dave. Having watched basically all your previous one's my attitude toward this new series was a bit complacent but I've watched them anyway. Guess what? You taught me something. Just proves that reviewing the basics occasionally is worthwhile.

    Hello Dave from Salzburg Austria :) Great videos, you've helped my game immensely and given me something to do during the corona lockdown. I thank you lots and lots for your help in helping me advance.
    I am however a little confused about your explanation of where to set your feet on the oche because in this video you explain that you place the middle of the foot in the centre of the oche which makes sense, but in another video which I couldn't find again you explain to place the knuckle of your little toe in the centre of the oche. The knuckle of the small toe placement seems to be working better for me for some reason but I'm now not sure if I need to change my position to the middle of the foot to the centre of the oche for better accuracy.

    dave can i ask , when you stand side on , do you square off the back shoulder too so the whole body is side on except for you head which you look in the direction of the board or open it out a little .. or which is best etc . still trying to sort out o=how i hold the dart too as i think i am using too much of my wrist

    Hi Dave, sorry if this is a stupid question but are both your feet flat while throwing? My back leg is on the toe but trying to adopt your stance. Thanks.

      Steve Green no your ok as long as the ball of your back foot remains planted on the floor. The more solid your stance is the better your throw will become. Cheers Dynamite Dave.

    Hi dave i think this is a great video and I'm looking forward to the next one to find some new practice routines and pick up parts of information to help my game, but a question i have is there are many great players who's mechanics go against what you say such as MVG and Gary Anderson. Do you think they'd throw even better with this technique? Or what do you think about this... Thanks again Dave looking forward to improving my game with more of your tips :)

    Why does my wrist turn inwards when I throw? Hitting a lot of 5's it's driving me nuts can't seem to correct it. A bit like Wayne Mardle. Any suggestions??

    Sorry Dave. I just can't improve using your stance. It's uncomfortable. I tried your stance for a solid week and all I got was back problems. When I would rotate my front foot to the oche and "lock" the front hip, my back started hurting. No problems, mate. It only takes a short search of the PDC to realize that there is no "best" stance or throwing technique. Viva la difference. Your instructional videos shouldn't be so closed minded to other successful techniques. Perhaps a video straightening this all out is in the future. You could critique a player like Mensur Sulovic and give him a few suggestions to improve. By the way Dynamite, what's your 3-dart average?

    • @billkipper3264
      @billkipper3264 6 років тому

      Certainly, as everyone is different physically you may have to adapt Dave's advice to yourself. Case in point is that there is no way I can stand completely square with the oche. I feel totally over rotated and must twist my upper body around to get square with the board. Instead my heel is slightly farther away so that my body is square but just on the edge of over rotation. This seems to have worked nicely. As for the back pain, I had it as well even with my modified stance. Like someone driving a knuckle into my back just a couple of inches below my shoulder blade. It even affected my sleep. Basically, I just kept massaging it and finally played through it. It took a good two or three weeks. Now it doesn't bother me at all.

      Only a small percentage of pro players have a totally unique throw . If you watch rod Harrington's videos on top players throws you will find 95% or more of them throw the same with minute differences . The biggest difference is in there grips but the rest of there stance and action are not a million miles away from what Dave is suggesting. So its viva la slight difference . I've adopted his suggestions and am staggered at the improvement from around 70 average to 90's . And it is down to more consistency with less things to go wrong .

      Great content lads your input is vital and I always make a point of saying its subjective and I am trying to give people a solid base to work from just making the suggestion that logic and simplicity will breed accuracy and consistency.
