Phil Taylor's throw is probably among the simplest you can get. Wonder how he made that work. Doesn't hold the dart in any particular way. Just three fingers on the barrel. One of them is just barely there as a balance on the front. His throw is very clean too, and no quirks. There must be something about that, that made him get to number 1 that many times. It's like a golf swing. All the number 1 champions don't have anything that looks really unique. The club must be held and swung a particular way in order to get the maximum benefit out of it.
Never trust someone who explains more what he believes than what he could see. If you listen to 2:15 you hear "That elbow position stayed exactly the same." Etc. Now have a look again at 2:09. The elbow joint is a good two inches higher after he released the dart.
Keeping the arm in one position is good advice, but every player does that and without even thinking about it. The key is to grip your darts and be able to throw them in a straight and comfortable way. The wrist should move from right to left and release each dart, before the arm begins to move downwards. I hope this advice is clear!
Wesley K don't try and throw like some1 else. Always throw for wat feels natural and comfortable to u. U could be 4/5 inches taller or smaller than Ian. Practice is the name of the game and once u been practising for a few weeks something is going to stick for u. Please don't try copy people but if u happen to throw and it looks like some1 then hey. Just look at al the top guys and look how many different throws they have. Not 1 persons throw is correct and not 1 persons is wrong. If it works stick with it. Hope this helps
It's difficult to comprehend, but everyone that throws well throws exactly the same, the only difference is the alternative means used to get into the correct delivery position. This would be called styles.
I don't think that holding your darts level or straight, actually does that much. From what I can see, the dart when released usually raises it's point. It is the overall balance and the flight of the dart that guides the arrow. The flight causes more wind resistance to the end of the dart and drags the point up. I take it that you regard Aleksandr Oreshkin's throw as wrong. It may be unorthodox and he may resemble a deranged orangutan, but I can assure you that he does that all important action. The action that Bristow and all the Dartitis sufferers would give their high teeth for. The one that the presenters are hunting for. To put in a better context there was a golfer called Lee Trevino who looked so ungainly, but was extremely accurate and won pots of dosh and titles. Same overlooked action in two of many sports. Don't listen to the experts, they don't know. FACT!
@@blademaster9297 Yes, and nearly everyone can throw a dart towards a target. Hitting a specific area with velocity is a different proposition. You make one great insight with the word comfort.
I don't think MVG is going to do it, cause as the number 1, he has no interest in showing everyone his own style. I bet, he could think, that other players try to copy something from him :D
Rod likes to complicate things, its like holding a pencil, few people are the same...try and copy Ians throw, you will be concentrating on the throw rather than your natural throw...A dart player who thinks to much, comes unstuck, enjoy it and relax...
Just got a set of Ian whites unicorn darts , lovely barrel but the stems you get with the darts are garbage , the stems Ian is using here are not what you get when you buy them , I like Ian white his got a lovely throw

"Ew what's that in his ear?" That's what Rod Harrington looks like he's thinking in the thumbnail
I now know why I was useless when I played at local club level, although right handed I have no forward vision in my right eye 😄🤗👍
Thank you much. Great video.
