FYI, Khmer/Khamen are brainwashed through false education by their government. So the government can cover up its failure to develop the country. The only pride of Khmer/Khamen is the frabicated history. Khmer/Khamen even use that history as an excuse for their poorly developed culture by saying that....Khmer/Khamen are poor and not civilized because Siam steal their culture. In fact, Cambodian culture was destroyed during Khmer Rouge era when the smart ones are all killed and the country was left with the uneducated and brainless ones....today's Khmer/Khamen.

@@lamunsoleil2609 Thai language is not closed to Chinese at all, many words actually are close d to Cambodian language. I think Siam and Cambodia may used to be linked together in the past but somehow Siam evolved to present Thailand with several ethnic groups but Cambodia stopped evolving and isolated in maintaining original Cambodia language due to civil wars and French colonization.
@@pasaboon I said Thai language contains many Chinese words, for example Cha for tea, and similar sound tonations. The characters and system of writing are completely different, I know it. And it contains a lot more of Khmer words.
Of course, neighbors interacted and copied from each other. In Angkor period and before, I think Siamese copied more from Khmer, but after the latter's fall and the former's rise, Khmer more copied from Siamese.
It's not like Khmer stopped evolving, but it's more of a spiral of fall (by contrast, when going up, it's a spiral of rise), it's more of a national law of evolution. After a very long fall, I believe now Cambodia is entering a new spiral of rise.

If you included harihara into the history instead of ignoring the multiple temples around angkor wat and angkor thom. Harihara history dates to the mahabharata which dates to 5000 years old. Books like to claim this is a created figure that encouraged the unity of hindus and Buddhists.
The collapse was do to the Tai migration further south, they occupied the north and city by city started to capture Mon and Khmer outpost. The population swelled during the Mongol invasions into southern China, as that population increased the need to expand increased. Mengrai captured the Mon kingdoms up north and Khamhaeng later ousted the Khmer in central Thailand. If it was the weather that weather would of effected all peoples in the region not just Angkor. In Thailand, which majority are Theravada Buddhist (the old and original Buddhism) unlike Mahayana Buddhism in China, we never heard of Buddha is one of avatar of Vishnu(I myself learn about this by reading comments in UA-cam) even if the Brahma religion came from India to South east Asia for thousand years and before Buddhism, as you can see from Angor wat in Cambodia, and Do you wonder why we never heard of Buddha is avatars of Vishnu story? Hindu was actually create after Buddhism by taking Brahma religion as a core and put more of knowledge from Buddhism and some more. The old Brahma religion killed animal to sacrifice for god while Hindu will not kill animal like Buddhism. PS. Why no one ever look into the possibility of the Mongol empire causing flood of refugee fleeing China entering Southeast Asia and caused stress in the local Khmer government system.

Very understandable history explained then most historian, I'm Khmer but a multi religious historian, Khmer religious is a Mixed of Budism and Hinduism as one, the god and goddesses of Cambodia todasy are a mixed of Hindu and Buddhist.The temple also half Hinduism half Buddhism in there own unique way its like a copy of influence but make it better bigger then the original architecture. Most temple is original Hindu ,but some are original Buddhist .

Thank you for the video. I am not an expert or have well knowledge on this historical matters but I got confused on the history after watching. In Thai and Myanmar recorded, we call Khom Empire (Jayavarman dynasty), not Khmer Empire. Khom Culture had been spreading throughout and reigning over south east Asia. Khom Empire was Hindu and Brahmin (India) who used Bali Sanskrit even the king name was Bali Sanskrit. Khom empire (Jayavarman dynasty) built Angkor and others civilization. Instead Khmer was a local people at that period and Khom had been using Khmer as labors to build Angkor. At one point of time, I think around the year of 1,300, if I remember correctly. One of Khmer people name (I think it call Trasak Praham) overthrew the Khom/Jayavarman dynasty and killed Jayavarman king and that became the beginning of Khmer Empire and Cambodia today. I also saw some video said the last Jayavarman king did put a strong curse to Khmer dynasty that they would never thrive and be under other empire or other dynasty for eternity. I don’t even know if it’s true or not. But the dynasty definitely had change hand and the Khmer people had no relation to the previous dynasty, the name of the Khmer Kings were not India name anymore. In the ancient stone in Myanmar had the ancient record which said Khom people was not Khmer people. In my personal opinion the Khmer dynasty started to decline, not only from natural disasters but also the lack of know how to manage the dynasty. In some of records from China around Sukothai and Ayudthaya periods, wrote that the Khmer had no culture and custom, they don’t know how to sew and made clothes, wore clothes, only Siam knew how. Also in Aury diary said how uncivilized Khmer was for him. Those 2 records even may me more confused because Khmer dynasty reigned after Jayavarman dynasty, did they not heritage the knowledge? Haha, most history written by Thai is fake which written to glorify Thailand. Ayuthaya and Sohkothai were former Khmer empire cities and had connections to Khmer before the founding of Siam. People in Ayuthaya spoke Khmer. There were various Khmer ancient temples still standing in Thailand today. Siam made up history so they can claim the area and weaken Khmers.
