You should go visit the khmer temples beyond Angkor. It is way more impressive than the ones in Angkor. Also you will learn more how great the Khmer Empire was at its height in the early 13th century A.D.

Yea, the culture in Cambodia is very different to Australia. I visited Cambodia for the very first time this year. And I was amazed by how they live. And all the history and food. Loved it. I am Cambodian but I was born in Thai border then migrated to New Zealand so i never knew Cambodia until now. And I'm glad I finally experienced it.

Angkor wat who built it? Who are the KHOM people?
In conclusion, KHOM is the creator of Angkor Wat.
with the knowledge of ancient Indian art and engineering
With workers from everywhere around the area

    • @neoflynow1130

      believe it or not
      History of the Khom people
They are Thai ancestors. He ordered the construction of Angkor Wat.
is the inventor of the Khom script which is adapted from the Indian script
This is a problem that Everyone wants all the truth.
      It is now 2023.
In the ancient world, the Land of Suvarnabhumi, The Lavo Kingdom was the birthplace of the KHOM people.
Lavo stone castles are everywhere in Thailand. It was built before the Angkor Wat period.
I repeat before the Angkor Wat period.
For example, Phra Prang Sam Yot in "Lop buri"province
Prasat Hin Phanom Rung in "Buri ram" Province of Thailand.
google Keyword "Khom Civilization" in Thailand
      I repeat
The KHOM people are not Khmer(cambodia).
The KHOM people are the ancestors of Siam.(Thai)
Ancient stone inscriptions in Burma called the Siamese as KHOM.
We used to watch Disney's Jungle book.
In the forest there is a lost city. that is hypothetical
But this is a place in the real world.
This is an ancient Indian civilization spread to Thailand.

I visited Angkor Wat in Sept (low season) for 6 days, including to Phnom Penh (6 hours by bus US$10, single trip). During Sept/Oct, the taxi was only US$18/person for 6 hrs trip to 5 temples, the driver just wait for you at the entrance of each temple. I recommend visiting in Sept/OCt, it only rain for 1 or 2 days but u can walk around with umbrella & rain boots. You can use US$ anywhere in Cambodia!
Another Hong Kong world wide well known movie filmed in Angkor Wat was "IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE" it was the ending of the movie.

as a filipino im a bit jealous as to why philippines doesnt have any temples like angkor wat and others across south east asia.. but then I remember that philippines has earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, volcanoes and typhoons every year! so I can imagine our ancestors may have not made any grand plans for great temple complexes in the long run because of issues of natural calamaties.. unlike cambodia and the mainland south east asia they only worry about floods and are not situated in a ring of fire or typhoon belt in geographical sense hur hur

Mainland South East Asia is very hard to build an Empire also because of mountainous regions especially in Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Cambodia is mostly flatland but with monsoon rains thus it floods a lot. Despite these obstacles the Khmers still managed to build one of the greatest Empires ever in human history with a road system crossing mountain terrains. I'm more interested in the Khmer Empire port cities than the inland cities like Angkor.

Wow you have a sharp eye :) I once visited gunstore in Stavanger Norway and the store clerk pulled proudly out a Glock 17 to show it to me from his back pocket when I told him I had just got permit for a Glock 34 and wanted to buy some ammo for it lol. In Norway handguns is highly regulated for organized competition shooting only and you are never allowed to carry ... Ended up buying 200 p+ 9mm :)

      believe it or not
      History of the Khom people
They are Thai ancestors.

I think anyone who's having a plan going to visit Angkor Wat maybe you should contact each other in this comment section or private messaging system and then make your best visiting experience with new people from different location or country. I think that will give you more fun.
