I was the copywriter on the original Munchies commercial. Together with my art director Paul Fiala, we came up with the concept at McKim Adv Toronto. The original spot is not in this reel. Animation was done in Montreal (forgot his name). Music by David Fleury. I had to write a document for the client showing that munchies was now part of common vernacular. Yes they were later bought by Lays who killed the single serving bags. More profit in big bags. I’d never seen most of these later spots. I went to another agency shortly after finishing this.
I remember the rock sticker promo. I miss hostess chips so much. Best tasting S&V and dill pickle chips. Also, the whole “munchies” reference. There’s no way they didn’t get the link. 😂
Dude,I have Wayne Gretzky cards from those chips! Remember those? They were really small cards but they still look brand new! They still have the wrapper!Sealed! I also have a Michael Jordan one too!
Yeah we got the link. I had to write a document for the client explaining how the term was now in common use. Hired a librarian to find newspaper and magazine mentions.
I still remember the ill fated Orange, Cherry and Grape flavours. I remember Roasted chicken, but, by Lays, Humpty Dumpty, and Old Dutch. Lastly, I remember buying a bag of chips for 15 cents back in the early seventies. I miss the munchies, the eighties. I fondly remember going out west to saskatchewan to visit family in the 70's and eating the Old Dutch potato chips that came in a box with two plastic bags, with Fleetwood Mac (Dreams) playing on the radio of our Ford Custom, good times.
My favorite chips of all time. Loved the Roast Chicken and Hot Dog. Once in awile the pizza. Wish they would make them again. That and ice creamix ice cream bars. Yum!
I don't really remember munchies commercials as a little kid but I totally remember eating Munchies potato chips as a little kid all of the time thank you for the Memories
The commercials of the 80s and 90s were so awesome. Now they are so boring, bland and uncreative. Companies should play their old commercials instead of making new ones. Because clearly the old commercials were a million times better.

iTzYoMaster I forgot about the sports collector cards. Sports wasn’t really on my radar at that time.
@@mocat1 Sometimes I would get lucky and there would be 2 in the bag. I also remember when pop was in glass bottles , I won a lot of free cokes !

Nice collection! The 80s was such a more simpler time: G.I. Joe, Tonka trucks, Kool aid, and Hostess chips.
Barbie, my little pony carebears, sesame street
OMG.. i remember this brand chips.... it was the BEST!!
idk why they stopped producing HOSTESS POTATO CHIPS
Lovely carnival commercial ❤
Bring back Hostess chips...Hostess will always be better than lays.
I Wish that Hostess Potato Chips' Munchies can talk for once!
I think the first one is the best one
The mascots look like moomintrolls
Dill pickle and ketchup were my two favourite flavours.

It probably was him.

I never did like hostess potato chips because there were too many burnt chips in a bag. Lays chips are the best!
