There is something endearing about nostalgia for old commercials, rather than the ones we avoid now. Maybe it has something to do with how much time we have but now do other smaller things with it? Also, the quality of the commercials have a different feel. They seem too sterile. Nothing that seems to grab the attention.
Also the fact that a lot of these things from old commercials aren’t even sold anymore, so it feels less like you’re being advertised to. It’s just a mundane, yet at the same time, fascinating look into the past.

Boy, the memories.
As long as you didn’t use wire hangers!
It’s 2004, I’m 9 years old. Just got home from church on a Sunday afternoon. Everybody is taking naps/relaxing. I’m in my room after playing NBA Street 2 on gamecube and I change the input on my fatback tv to dish network. This commercial is playing on Nick.
Back when things just felt... normal.
this is so nostalgic for me it’s so soothing
Seeing these kinds of ads in the 70s and 80s I knew these products and recipes were waaay above my mom's skill level. I began to think nobody had this kind of cooking equipment and it was all too good to be true.
The thing that kills me is that opening line
"It's the most exciting thing you can do with the inside of a cake!"
edit: "exciting" lol
It's a lie too. Clearly those mouths are not creative enough for anything but gossip.
That's not the line tho lol
@@DaDualityofMan it was "exciting" 😔
Ikr? Clearly her mom never helped with Dad's...columbian snow globe business
This commercial just unlocked a core memory for me. I vividly remember watching this video. Probably hundreds of times when I was a kid the mid to late 2000s.
This commercial makes me want to ride my bike down a predominantly white suburban street in the early afternoon on a warm spring day.
Now these neighborhoods are filled with diggers.
@jerrynadler2883 your profile looks exactly how anyone would expect it to
@@jerrynadler2883 so glad that they are!
i think the comment's meant to be ironic but this is a great example of why nostalgia can be dangerous. progress looks ugly through rose tinted glasses.
@@kingcrimson4133 damn i forgot about this comment from 4 years ago. But you're right. I was just expressing how nostalgic this commercial makes me feel but I guess I felt like being cheeky about it.
Is it 2004, me staying up at 3 am watching this thinking what a throw back
This was the commercial of my childhood and I wanted it so badly omg
This used to drive me CRAZY. The ultimate unskippable ad. And here I am watching it 20 years later
When I was 15 I wanted to have it now that I'm 32 there's no stopping me now!
My life is in shambles, and I jumped to watch this vid, when it appeared on my feed, just to experience some feeling of familiarity & control
this is such a deep memory from my childhood
I feel so old when I was seeing this commercial thank goodness I found it if I had money I would definitely buy this I remember watching this commercial when I was just a kid this one brings back good memories
I saw or heard "alaska cake" somewhere today and a faint memory of this commercial came to mind. That's why I'm here
This Commercial makes me so emotional 🥹 so many great memories with this
This was the only infomercial product I could ever get my mom to buy. She made a cake for my birthday with it and brought it to school. Then like every other infomercial product, it got put in a closet and forgotten.
Ah yes…always hated that. Still do. Mom got a chocolate fountain. Used it once. I would always ask her to use it again. She always had some excuse. Made no sense. She always loved cooking and baking. I still don’t get it.
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug. I love everyone watching this video, y’all were all there too ❤
The music from this commercial always reminded me of the first Sims game.
I'm glad somebody pointed this out!!
i forgot about this for the longest time and now memories are flooding back of seeing this commercial constantly as a kid
I have absolutely no idea why this commercial came into my mind, I need a hug.
