Johnny's spirit rises high! As his manager said, shortly after Johnny died: 'it's a sad day for the world, but a great day for heaven'. With kind regards en deep respect for 'the king of country', Fred
I grew up in New York City and back in 1962 when I really started listening to music there were no country stations not until the 70s but even though I knew country was not supposed to be cool I kept it to myself that I liked Johnny Cash and some other country music now it's all changed country is everywhere and it is cool Johnny always was
Johnny Cash was one of the greatest singers of "train songs" ever. His "steady as a train" music style was just right for it. "City of New Orleans" wasn't his originally, but he could still do a great version of it. Someone should do a compilation album of "The Complete Train Songs of Johnny Cash."
Its called "Ridin' The Rails". Rhino put it out on DVD several years ago. Dunno if its still available or not. Should be able to score a copy on eBay or Amazon I would think.
@XxKaramellMonsterxX Moin ;D Warum Ohjee?? Johnny Cash hat ja auch einige "Rock" Lieder geschrieben... Ihn kann man eh nicht einordnen... Country - Folk - Gospel - Rockabilly - Rock´n´Roll - Pop...usw. That´s Johnny Cash!!! :D
Ryan .. get on in Kankakee. The train still runs daily, after many financial BS difficulties. But we all know, it's not about boarding the train, but the journey. One man's treasure is another man's trash. Life is all in how one views it.
GEEZ! ~ I can feel the "clickity-clack" beneath my feet. I used to be a switchman/trainman on the "P-Company". ... out of Chicago. Way back when! Still love trains and their wondeful melodies.... Curt Erler Find me at this site ... curterlerauthor
@cindynunyun He's NOT punk, folk, or pop. Because he doesn't belong to a genre because he doesn't belong to music. Johnny Cash IS ALL MUSIC and all music has been inspired by him.
Most of the towns it passes have good nicknames. Homowood, Pee-a-ton, KKK, Asskum, Man's Tool, Toilet Town (Champaign), Spittoon, Fuckingham, Crappindale, ANNA (Ain't No N- Allowed).
