- I'm currently 4 months into my no buy year, so I thought it was about time to address the topic of decluttering and having a good clear out during a no-buy or low-buy year, or no-buy challenge.
I love a good clear out, especially as it comes into Spring, so I wondered if it was a good idea to do this during my no-buy year, or if I was putting my self at risk of wanting to shop and buy more things? Let's talk pros and cons!
Let me know if you're undertaking a low or no buy at all this year or in 2024, and keep me posted with how you're doing.

My 1st tip for me...stay out of stores...declutter...declutter...go through socks, purses, shoes, coats, undies, pajamas, tee shirts,...there are so many things you can declutter
I’ve found the no buy time (year) helpful in decluttering and selling the stuff I don’t wear or use and don’t need to replace in waves. I find it harder when I’m going through and identifying a couple of gaps I was not aware of - especially since moving to a different climate. Having that gap in your face and knowing there’s nothing to be done until the next time the season rolls around, that’s harder
Yeh that’s a great point! It can be hard to not fill the gap once you find it. But it’ll feel SO GOOD once the no-buy is over and you have really thoughtfully decided where the gaps are in your wardrobe x
@@gemmaamclean ah i know, i must have sold my heeled spring boots before my move because they were too big, so no boots in spring this year for me
OMG YES I HAVE NEEDED THIS VIDEO
Hope it’s been helpful Katrina ♥️
I'm shopping in my closet...so those pieces I did not pick up, because I was in stores picking up...I am wearing items...changing how I wore items...I declutter if it does not fit
I think it's not the clothes that make us feel guilty ...it's the money we spent...and now to get rid of something we have not used...for whatever reason
Definitely that too! I think it can trigger various kinds of guilt for different people; it could be guilt of not fitting things anymore, guilt of money spent, guilt of not wearing something that was a gift. Best thing for the money guilt is to resell the items (unless we want to just start wearing it instead) x
@gemmaamclean I see your other points...I feel bad getting rid of a gift someone has given to me....
@gemmaamclean but just me...I can't wear it big or small gone...I'm short...so all sleeves and pants must be hemmed...so the better deal I get on buying the item is a must for me...because I still have to have tailoring....which is the other new shopping in my closet...take a top and a pair of pants to the tailor...I say ..new outfit...sorry for the overload...getting it out is a need for me...
@@kimkirksey562 I think you value items so much more when you have them made to fit, so that’s great!
I'm doing a year...I always take away items ...that is not new...bringing more items in is new to me...
Best of luck with the year! It’s a big commitment xx
@gemmaamclean thank you for responding back...I'm over consumption...I want to travel more...
