Just a thought for anyone getting rid of things. If you check with local shelters that help abused people, they will take things like shampoos/conditioners that you may have used a couple of times but still has a lot of life left. If you have makeup that you didn’t use, they take that. Men’s and women’s and children’s items are needed. Sometimes women leave with nothing and they need everything. Sometimes they have teenage boys with them that need items too. When you find a place, the drop off is never at the home and you won’t know where the home is, but it is still verifiable that it will be used.
I feel like so many people make decluttering videos but I rarely see what happens after! Personally the after part is very overwhelming to me so I declutter slowly until I fill up a box then do these things to figure out where they can go. I like your methodized approach and I think that will make the process less daunting to me!
Hi Ashline. I really love your videos ! Before the subject of this one, I think there is a more important topic : "how to consume sustainably". Because, if you don't overbuy, you don't over-clutter. For me, it's the n°1 point. "Decluttering sustainably" is greenwashing for most people : "i got rid of my stuff donating to a shelter, I'm happy because I feel like a super-hero doing it, so I can buy again and throw systainably again". This way of consuming wont solve the planet's issues. It is still energy consumption, material foraging, wastes gestion... Reduce shopping, reduce waste : that's sustainably. Not : buy / declutter / give. Love from France.
I'm so glad you made this video, Ashlynne, because I was definitely wondering what happened to the 500+ items that you decluttered in the previous video! Also, the decluttering hierachy is a great method to think through what to do with the items, so thank you for sharing that! I now feel much more ready to do my own 30 day minimalism game. PS: I love watching your videos! You are an inspiration to me to live more minimalistically. And honestly, you radiate a sense of calmness and peace that leaves me feeling the same.
Just wanted to take a moment to say how much I appreciated this video. It was certainly motivating. I loved how sustainable the process was and helps with decision making around items. Thank you!
I kept wondering what you were going to do with all this stuff while watching the video, so I was super excited to see this follow-up. Very informative and helpful!
I love this video, it’s really helped motivate me and has given me great ideas on how to declutter. You look gorgeous in that sweater and I’m so impressed with how nimble you are moving around. I hope you could relax with a cup of tea and a good book after all that hard work! ❤
I’m glad you have the bandwidth and energy to sort through the decluttered items. I,however, do not have either. For me, it’s donate or trash because I don’t want it hanging around my house any longer than it has to. In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t make any difference anyway. Great declutter though.
I completely agree. If it is something that we can obviously sell on marketplace & we want to buy something in place of it that suits us, we will do that. For example, we sold our instant pot for $60 bc we wanted an air fryer and then, we only had to pay twenty dollars out of pocket in the end. If we know if someone can obviously use something I'll ask, But I only ask a close family member like my my daughter, mom, or sister. More importantly I think it's just good to get it out of the house and not worry so much about where it goes. I take full advantage of those donation bins that are everywhere, and it does not matter what you put in them and at least it is out of your house😊 I just don't feel bad if someone isn't able to use the item.Because it's just a material thing.Anyway , so I don't think that hard.
I started the decluttering game on February 1st and it has been SO fun. I realize by letting go of the things we aren’t using, it’s making space for what we truly want to spend our time on.
This was a great and very helpful video! I have been following you for some time and truly love your content. And...as the mother of four sons, I am super excited for you and your husband as you prepare to welcome your son to your family this Spring! Continued blessing on your journey!!
Well done you ....👍👏. !!! It always feel great when you have removed unneeded items ....and makes a great difference in your space. And more importantly in your mind 😊
I LOVED this video, thank you so much for raising awareness! H&M has an amazing program for recycling fabrics of any kind, even unusable. You can also donate old pillows, blankets or towels to animal shelters. For games, puzzles or books, donating to a youth center or a residence for the elderly is nice. Many stores also have a recycling program for empty or used makeup and beauty products. Here in Quebec, drugstores and Hudsons bay are good options. :)
Love these ideas and the explanation of how you go about them. It helped me think about broadening my options. I gave a throw and scarf to a relationship, thinking she may use it or her child ❤
Hi AShlynne, thanks - you actually inspired me to proceed with some of my decluttered items TODAY! :) I was surprized that you don't have plastic recycling facilities? Is it only paper that you can put into the 'recycable' bin?..
thank you so much for this video! i’ve searched all over youtube and even commented on one of your past videos looking for a video just like this to make my decluttering journey more streamlined. i’ll definitely be using the resources you provided and anything mentioned in the comments :) i can’t express my appreciation enough 💗
If you don't have the time to sell items a consignment shop could be a good option if you can find one in your area. I don't have to bother taking pictures, negotiate pricing or meet up with anyone and you support a local business. If something doesn't sell, you can opt for the items to be returned back to you to follow this hierarchy with or they often will donate the items for you.
I don't sell anything I can't get at least $20 for because I need to feel compensated for my time in packing it up and posting it. We have lots of second hand shops for donating things in our area, but we're also really lucky because we also have a "free shelf" just around the corner. Things which I don't think are good enough for the second hand shop (eg paper binders, ripped Little Golden books that could be used for crafts etc) I put on the free shelf. I usually check a week later to see if it's gone. So far everything has, otherwise I'd just take it back and put it in the trash.
I would add an extra tier which is barter/swap. You’re still exchanging value for items, so you feel like your item is truly wanted and going to a good home. It also relieves some of the financial guilt, just like selling does. 😊 I love this video! Not many UA-camrs talk about what they do after they declutter ❤
My gosh that's a lot of work, I never even looked at GWs website I just donate by what I've seen in their stores before ha. I really need to declutter. I'd rather just have a yardsale but it's hard to do that too, living in a apartment.

Where are you selling? I’ve tried vinted and unless it’s free no one wants it lol. I opened up a postmark and immediately deleted my account bc I was annoyed at the influx of emails and how they forced my account to “follow” 141 people??? So weird that poshmark has a social media aspect to it
What platform you use to sell?@@AshlynneEaton I also want to sell some things but not sure which one is best or what would you recommend. Thanks for the informative video really like the hierarchy system to categorize
Who else LOVES the feeling of getting the things you've decluttered out of your space?? 🫶
Feeling great!
I always feel relief and enjoy the empty space. 🙂 🌼
Awesome Ashlynne 😅😅🎉😂❤❤
I always feel a massive weight off my shoulders once I drop off stuff to my local charity shops.

Totally with you on that! That’s why I wanted to make this video. Hopefully it can be helpful for the next time you declutter 🥰🥰

You made this easier to make sure how to distribute decluttered things. Not many people follow up decluttered items like this. this was great. thanks
Unique and responsible ideas for decluttered items! I love the hierarchy plan. Well done 😊
Thank you!!

Thank you for this video. The most difficult aspect of decluttering for me is actually getting rid of my unwanted items. Will be using your tips.
Love that so much!! That’s exactly why I made this 🥰

Oh you can be sure I did some MAJOR relaxing after this 😉
Love this! Many options on how to limit our trash and still get rid of stuff. Thanks!

Good morning Ashlynne happy new year to you and your loved ones and I hope that 2024 brings you a lot of love and happiness
I just love your decluttering videos , you always give such great advice! Thank you for all you do😁
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
Great video. I decluttered 2 big bags of stuff today. I take it to Goodwill.

A very amazing job, Ashlynne!
Thank you!!
You’re welcome!
I’m decluttering from three bedroom home to a motor home and just took 2 carloads to the op shop I didn’t count but very freeing
Hi, I don’t see that artwork for sale on your instagram. Is it live yet or did I miss it?
Got a bit busy today and forgot to post, but I’ll do it in the morning 😘

There are some places that have textile recycling.

How long do you keep it for sale before you get rid of it? If it’s not selling.
So usually keep it up for 3-5 days before reducing the price. Then I’ll do it a few more times until it sells. Usually works well 😉

FYI: H&M recycles any type of textiles and gives you a 15% off coupon!
Made it , here - 🎤 👠 📺 📹 ⚖️
I give most of my items through my Buy Nothing group.
We had the diabetes association come pick up 8 boxes of donations and there’s more we still have to box up and get rid of
