The "Little Red Book" is a good basic primer for anyone even mildly interested in progressive thought. However there are lots of other good reads out there, such as Jack London's 3-page essay "How I Became A Socialist". One thing though; two of the most successful and popular socialists in history are usually not mentioned by the Left; Edward Bellamy and Adolf Hitler. Probably they aren't mentioned because, first, their socialism wasn't Marxist, and secondly there is some confusion about both men. Bellamy, although socialist, preferred to call himself a "nationalist". And as for Hitler; the vast majority of mankind still thinks he was some kind of German Klansman, fighting for his racial beliefs. Wrong. He was a "National Socialist", which is what the term "Nazi-Sozi"---later shortened to just "Nazi"---means. And since the earth is currently being destroyed by capitalism and concentrated wealth, we need to learn all we can about alternate ways of thinking.
