The Blues Is alive and well..and his last name happens to be king ...carrying on the great tradition of the other Kings!! Damn he lit it up on this one..
Playing SRV on a tele in standard tuning, this kid is the real deal. He writes, sings and plays with wild abandon but has the character of an old soul. He's a gift from above to all of us.
Strats sound good....but Teles got something special that Strats dont and Teles handle a better range of genres I feel..more bottom end and output for having single coil pickups.....I like both
I hate when people say, "Oh he sounds like he's constipated or takin a really painful shit." It's like yeah, that's the point is that you have the blues and are in a lot of pain! SO if you hear the pain in his voice that's a good thing.
Marcus is simply genius, he is very original and often plays songs in a very barebones way but then goes off and does the most complex jazzy shit😊. Not to mention the absolute magnitude of his singing voice and musical talent on and off the guitar. But he can grow in many ways too and hopefully that will happen without him self destructing
Saw him last month. While he did not cover any SRV or play this type of blues, he still exceeded my high expectations and just blew me away. Such an incredible show and talent. Can't wait to see him again. He makes magic happen on stage.
Marcus King, and King Fish really are the new kings, even though guys like Eric Gales, Derek Trucks and Bonamassa aren't going away anytime soon either.
@@RogerThat902 ....there are thousands of kick ass musicians out there killiing it. record companies aren't running to sign rock players . billy strings is another fantastic guitar player out there.
Marcus King is the real deal. This kid can play the guitar, sing and write songs with the best of them. He was playing gigs with his dad’s band when he was in grade school. Had his own band in High School that played professional. There is a reason Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks have had him on stage. They recognize his talent.
In 50 years of watching live some of the guitar greats, this guy is up there with them, great guitar playing, superb vocals....what can i say....when are The Marcus King Band coming into the UK to play a few gigs...please
His older brother, Jimmie Lee Vaughan, is the superior blues guitarist of the two. Stevie would tell you that, too…more original, says far more with less flash & a journeyman’s economy of taste & tone. Saw SRV 5 times live, from his initial, ‘83 Tour, opening for the Moody Blues, to his final one in ‘90…co-headlining with Joe Cocker, a few months before his tragic death. Respectfully, both brothers are virtuosos, but Jimmie’s the real deal, beyond the blues-lite, Olympic flash & dash. Listen to some of the true heavyweights in the genre, beyond the white, blues rockers & a few obvious, big names.
He's already a legend brother! It's been e reaaaal long time since a guitar player like this appears. Perhaps he could shred just a tiny bit less, and put some more "g spot" bends, but who am i to say anything? That voice is unique as well! Long live the blues and soul hahahaha
What a phenomenal young talent! Guitar skills approaching those of SRV and a voice somewhere between Chris Stapleton and Warren Haynes (another outstanding guitarist!)
Good stuff!!! Glad to see some kids of today are going back to my roots (60s and 70s) and playing real guitar, thru real amps with no effects!! Thanks Marcus, keep it up dude!!!!
Marcus with a voicemix of Janis Joplin, James Brown and a lot of ”throatwhiskey”. And guitarplay that would make - sorry- Hendrix jealous. Marcus is beyond blues and soul and more and more people gets to know his genius!! Peet the Swede
Now this young man is a real musician, what a voice , what otherworldly chops, but always as means to the goal of communicating the music. F or me guys like him are carrying the banner for Blues Rock, not like all those self satisfying “guitarists” in the tow of the whacky narcissistic Joe Bonamassa ….. this is about music dot. He is certainly transcending SRV. He is his own man, unique , just like SRV was. Hat off, Marcus King.
SRV spent too much of his short, recorded career, lifting Hendrix & Albert King solo’s, note for note. Sure he had some great, original’s, but I felt he was finally maturing, finding his OWN voice, at the time of his passing. The great, Johnny Winter, had his own style, right from his ‘68 debut…can’t say that about Stevie.
The Blues Is alive and well..and his last name happens to be king ...carrying on the great tradition of the other Kings!! Damn he lit it up on this one..
I didn't know a Tele could do that. And yep, Stevie Ray would love this kid.
I'm very much a strat guy, but yeah a Tele can kick quite a bit of ass.
I’m a Strat guy as well but the Tele can get dirty and has that beautiful Twang too
I'm a Tele guy, but you could plug a 2x4 into that Marshall and it would sound killer.

The first 2 Zeppelin albums were recorded with Jimmy’s tele…including the Stairway solo.
Teles R U L E ‼️
All of those big mouths talking in the audience that just won't shut up no matter how loud the music gets. Assholes
Man bet you didn't think when he switched. Marcus is King! King of Blues

Marcus is no one-trick pony. He's got his own sound and feel. And from a chops standpoint, he's untouchable.
Being a long LONG time fan of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter and SRV I just gotta see Marcus King soon. Keepin' the flame alive ! Thank you !!!

First time I heard is with Billy on their summertime duet about a year ago, can't get enough of either one now, two best musicians out there
Not only is this a killer performance, that is one of the best guitar tones I have ever heard
Yeah. His tone is just sick. All organic and analog. Fenders gibsons and orange. none of that digital sh*t.
I love his tone it’s really punchy
