If you watched Murugi on podcast ya akina Jules and Sharon ... murugi's point on people having a hard time accepting how her grind makes her money ... triggered a memory of the Jules' view that murugi was only able to get this far bcoz of having her rich husband as backup .. which i think is such an ignorant thing for someone as great as Jules to say .. which came off as her trying to look for excuses to blame or cover up for how she herself lets her timidness hold her back .. there are currently so many women making big money in this industry some even more than murugi without a rich husband or family backup .. the likes of akina mungai eve , lynn ngugi etc .. that coming from jules was so sad
@shery553 I'm just from watching that episode on IRIP. I agree on your pov totally and would add on the way she put it was/is a bit off for me as well. However, I don't think it entirely came from a bad place since Jules has consistently shown how much she looks upto Murugi and her rate cards and all those stuff and Jules views are valid just as much as Murugi's are. Personally I see a clash of Jules being a little underestimating of her power vs Murugi executing hers very confidently. The last minutes of the episode Murugi is very affirmative of Jules power versus Jules struggling to see the power she holds. Both are great women at it! I stand corrected.
How about you also go to that video where Murugi and Mike featured on IRIP and give this your view, maybe you will get consent. B'se you might be projecting something that didn't come from a bad place
The woman in 'It ends with us' was intentionally abused by her husband. The plot is about 2 forms of abuse. 1. Gaslighting, and 2. Physical abuse. Gaslighting is when someone hurts you, then through manipulation, convinces you that you are to blame for your pain. The "are you doubting my love and intentions for you? I only hurt you coz you did x or y, which hurt my feelings. I never meant to hurt you" technique. Murugi's take was the victim's first POV. She was gaslight into seeing things that way. But her understanding changed after he attempted to rape her and bit her clavicle. She remembered that he had punched her and later pushed her down the stairs. 'It ends with us' is a movie about 3 generations of women. A daughter who watched her dad beat up and rape her mom, who thereafter married a man who beat her and attempted to rape her, and finally asked for a divorce from her abusive husband on the day she gave birth to her daughter. The generational trauma ended with her and her baby.
I actually this two girls❤youve really tsught me alot from a first year in uni till now am in fourth year..Youve helped me know myself better and i think am more like lydia personality,,lyd thank you so much❤
I JUST finished the book Jo's reading, "Only big Bumbum matters tomorrow "! Highly recommend the book, but yeah the dad in that book is the poster boy for " How to love someone you don't agree with"
