He only did this with 12 steps! This boy could really take the gold at the world champs this year. Even the world record is within his grasp.

His coaches are doing such a fantastic job too. Having him pass after he secured the gold! Same thing at indoor.

@@JumpersJunction Yep, that’s a great strategy so that he can avoid both injury and burn out. He should peak perfectly for worlds. He even said in an interview that he’s nowhere near his peak yet for the season.

@@albertmaraj I believe it. I need to go back and look if he has taken a full approach jump in comp this season yet. I think he definitely has the talent to be in WR territory in the next few years!

@@JumpersJunction He has not taken a full approach all season. I’m wondering if he’s intentionally saving it for the really big meets.

    • @JumpersJunction

@@albertmaraj it’s possible. But his timing is incredible! He’s in positioning his foot down near perfect which is allowing him to get his power!
But Not sure what his approach length was before but some athletes just don’t perform better at that age with the added speed as they haven’t learned to react to the added stress. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him keep the same approach length for the rest of the year and then lengthen it for the Paris 2024 prep. As the expression goes: “If it ain’t broke, why fix it”.

Please don't do the lord thing. Ask the lord to feed the hungry or cure cancer or something else than help someone win a race or jumping.

The young boy is marvellous. 2022, he jumped 17.27 now 17.87! Soon, he will jump over 18. Just washing him injury free. Keep it high.

So for those who think that Jamaicas explosion in track and field will be limited just to sprinting, you have a rude awakening. They are rapidly developing in the jumps, hurdles and throwing events. The rich legacy in track and field will continue for decades. That little island will only get better

Why do American athletics still use feet and inches for long jump and triple jump? This is so backwards, and so behind the times. All major competitions and records are in metres, and most of the world use metres. It's difficult for people outside of America to do the conversion in their heads, and it should be abolished.

Woooo pig soooie. Glad to see my alma mater back on top of men's NCAA T&F where they belong. I went to school there during the prime years of the John McConnell dynasty. All the other schools were competing for second place back then.
