I don't understand, why does footage release so late when the event is no longer at peak relevance? Don't get me wrong, Im happy we got the footage but for the sport to gain more recognition it needs to be marketed and covered better.
I saw this comment on another video. Apparently the television broadcaster has rights and ownership of the footage for a long duration of time (I'm assuming a couple years). Therefore it can only be uploaded by another party after the broadcaster ownership has expired.
Claye looked very frustrated with silver at these championships. After the 18.14m on +0.4 this season there's a high chance he will be a gold medalist at this years World's in Doha. Maybe even the WR will be broken.
Poor Will Claye had to be born in the same state as Christian Taylor. Not only that, they went to the same university lol This guy wasn't even the best jumper at his uni, even though he was number 2 in the world. That's bad luck right there.
Who cares will claye has gotten the best of Christian numerous times and has shown that he isn’t just a shadow in Taylor’s footsteps but definitely is my favorite and to me way better than taylor
@@n88te how? Every Olympic and world championships from 2011 to 2019 Taylor beat claye. Plus taylor has a better pr and comes up bigger during these bigger events. It’s no coincidence that will’s pr was during a small meet in California.
Just a question on Will Clays first jump, it looks like he supported himself with his right hand outside the pit on the landing inthe sand, have a look, its about 08.30. Is that Legal?
At 8:01 Will Claye touches the outside of the sandpit with his hand while landing. I don't think that's a foul, not sure if the rules are exact about this. But it would be debatable if his hand's mark would be shorter than what he left in the sandpit.
cuz he got it and he'll flaunt it. lol No seriously though, athletes have rituals they do to get themselves "in the zone." Some are stranger than others but it's how they get themselves to compete at a high level psychologically.
Athletics coverage is an embarrassment. Local, regional and national newspapers don't print times or distances... And the leading bodies have no idea how to promote or regulate doping. I've loved athletics since I was a kid in the 80s. I was a good junior. If I knew I could be a millionaire and get caught cheating and keep the cash... I would have been a great athlete.

@@oerlikon20mm29 That does not mean it is not necessary. Each phase (3 of them) requires a little different technique. Jumping from different legs and maintaining form threw each phase is a whole lot more than the LJ. In fact it is one of the most complicated events in T&F!
23:22 can someone tell me how that isnt a bronze? he didnt even touch the dust on the other side of the bronze line. Is it measured by feet, or by bum?
It’s measured by whichever part of your body touches closest to the start of the sand pit. If you look closely, he leaned to the left on his landing, and his arm touched down before the bronze line.
You can see a mark appear on the bronze line after he lands which was not there before, almost in-line with the horizontal line of the number 7 used for the superimposed 17
@@jogr2 If you jumped about 10 feet behind the board and jumped 56ft while someone else may jump 52 feet but their 8 feet over the board it would be hard to tell for the audience to see which jump is farther unless clarified which would just be a guessing show at that point.Thats why all jumpers jump from the board to make it easy for the audience and themselves how far their jump is.
