So, my brother and I used to religiously watch and read Naruto. Every week, we'd call each other up and discuss the chapter. His favorite character was Madara, and mine... Obito. He unfortunately passed away April 22nd, 2014. And its been pretty hard. And I won't lie, wishing I could do what Obito tried to do is something that crossed my mind a lot. But of course in the real world, you just have to deal with it, and try to cope. This is why people who say Obito is a terrible villain annoy me. He never started a war because he was... "Friend Zoned". He started a war because he saw the unfairness of life. And Obito had power. And not just power... *THE* power to make and change the world to benefit everyone. Despite Rin not having romantic feelings... she still loved him deeply as a friend. If we all had Obito or Madara's power, there would be merely a handful who wouldn't do what Obito and Madara tried to accomplish. That all said, R.I.P my Brother... I wish you could of finished Naruto with me... I wish you could be here for Storm 4. And most of all I just wish I could tell you how much you meant to me one last time. Cherish the people you love everyone!

I agree, very few people would have the resolve to not give in to such an idea if they had the power, and while I think Obito survived more things than he should towards the end, his final fate was fitting and perfectly captured him as a character and what he meant for the series.
Obito is the best villain in naruto shippuden hands down,he's even more dramatic than madaras past. madara's reasoning for being the way he is feels rather generic,obito's is generic but they portrayed his past very nicely. So he gets my vote for being the most tragic villain in naruto,especially since he was a kind hearted person that didnt deserve any of this.
Even sasuke's story was more tragic than nagato IMO,all nagato really lost was his parents and yahiko. obito never even had known parents,and was an outcast in his own clan,and then life just took a big shit on his luck,by causing him to get crushed,and then the girl he loved brutally killed infront of him. by his best freind...
He simply didnt care about what happens to his friend,all that matters to him is reviving rin and seeing the world put under genjutsu. he also probably still felt a bit of remorse for kakashi.
Goldenhumor i beg to differ. First of all Tobi being Obito fucks up the time line of the story in so many ways that i don't even wanna start explaining as it would just make me depressed seeing as how high i held this manga in regard but it had significantly lowered through time. Second; Obito's reason for going rampage is because his infant crush got killed. Loosing someone is indeed painfull and everyone handles loosing someone differently, i understand that but when you compare Obito's past to Madara's past like you did than Madara's past is definitely way more tragical then Obito's. Why? Well, the fact being that Madara lost all of his brothers during war would seem a bit more harsh overall in many ways than having your kinder garden crush die. Therefor i'd say Madara has every reason to be how he is. I'm not saying that the moon eye's plan is good imo but i'm simply trying to point out that Obito's character ruined the series in a way even though Kishi still is able to keep everything beautiful with the emotional human touching aspect in his story, it makes the rather unlogical reason that Obito went to war for fade away in my opinion. And lastly Madara deserves way more credit and respect as a villain. Imo he is the best villain in Naruto. But what he wants to achieve is just a fake dream, it is not real. His own words go against him when he said "Where there is light there is also darkness thus, where there is love there is also hatred, you can't escape this fact." But when he arrived, he had to see how his best friend (accidentally) killed the person he loved from the bottom of his heart. Obito just realized the hellish world he lived in - or what he thought he lived in - so still after her death, Rin encouraged him to keep on going - just in another way. His parents were dead and Rin - the light which guided his dark world - too. I mean: If I saw how someone killed someone I loved and I would live in this world, I would do the same as Obito. After Rin's death he had enough time to travel around the world but all he saw was hatred, suffering and futility. He wanted to end the pain of the people around him - mostly his. People can change in an irreparable way if something horrible happens. As Pain said:"Because of the existence of love sacrifice is born. As well as hate."
I'm not much of a poet, nor am I someone who should believe the world is something someone can put into words. But here is something I wrote in my college. " Love is a deep emotion, it can shift wars and move worlds. It is the only force that can stop hate but it cannot exist without it. For to love something is to hate another. Love can be empowering but it can also dismantling. A man without love is hopeless but a man with love is dangerous; It can be a sword or shield, you are the wielder, so you must choose".
I felt obito did what he did because the hatred of the shinobi world was constantly being reinforced all around him. Rins death was the catalyst, but everything else just pointed to what madara told him. Negative views of the current world were constantly being reinforced into his mind every day.
I think anyone ignorant enough to believe Obito is a bad character/villain needs to see this AMV. It's so powerful in the way that it perfectly portrays the story of a boy corrupted by loss, grief and hatred. Obito as a character absolutely fascinates me. I think it's terrible how little people actually seem to under that, in a lot of ways, he's no different than Naruto. He wants to change the world in his own way. Of course his methods are evil but behind that lies innocent and good intentions.
The transition from the eye to the moon crying gets me hard. People say Obito was childish but the loss transcended just feeling love. She was the only one who ever worried about him, sure his sensei taught him but Rin believed in him, helped him and wanted him to live. She wanted to make sure he was fine, even if she didn't love him romantically, there was love there. So...he fought because he lost his everything to the man that she loved more than him. That is beyond cruel, it is hilariously depressing but that is how the world is. Mother Nature is a dirty whore, to live we must take, from plants and animals and each other. So why care? We are trained to want the sex, the shiny car, to follow laws but in reality...every single thing is useless. That is what Obito and Madara saw and wanted out, they wanted to make a world where people didn't have to lose their Rin or Izuna or their clan. They wanted to be loved again and were willing to kill to do it, that isn't evil. The Uchiha's weakness is that they love everything so much that when they lose it, they TRULY miss it. Unlike most who "move on", if they truly loved what they loss, they never move on.

I understand what it feels to lose someone you LOVED, Obito! You are not alone! When i was 6 - 7 years old i had a crush on this girl i liked we were like neighbors. I didn't tell her how i really feel but in my heart says "Tell her!" but i can't not yet so i waited. I prefer obitos story is the saddest & tragic because he doesn't deserves this. he just a weak, innocent & so-called idiot boy. yet, his life is full of dream. he want to become a hokage. he want to become stronger. he keep training to surpass kakashi & the others. he asked Rin to watch him until he officially becoming the next hokage. Obito isn't a hero, but you do have to admit the fact that he manipulated a whole S-Rank Rogue Ninja organization to get him closer to his goal, him manipulating Sasuke, and the fact that he's essentially responsible for everything that is going on right now is pretty badass.
Obitos story is a sad one, I can relate to how he feels on some level. I mean he died protecting his friends, he entrusted the love of his life to Kakashi who was unable to prevent her "suicide". I adore his(obitos) story and I enjoy watching darkitty 669 videos so much because they rekindle the love I have for both the anime/manga and make me revisit the feelings I had in them. I love this amv and this manga/anime I love it when you can truly see life from the 'villains' point of view and it gets to the point that it blurs the lines between what's Good and Bad, instead of getting caught up in all these old fashioned notions, what we should focus on is that we are all human and we are all searching for peace and true happiness. Obito was just a 13/14 year old kid when his whole world shattered. He felt anguish, heartbreak, pain and loss in the death of his childhood love. He also felt betrayal, anger and despair as he witnessed his newly best friend and comrade breaking his last promise. Obito was just a kid when Madara found him and fed him lies and promises of a better and brighter life within a dream. All of what Obito cared about was reuniting with his old friends. Even if the real Kakashi was alive and right in front of him. Even if he fought or killed his real friends and sensei. He followed Madara's plan in order to feel love and acceptance after many painful years...My point is that Obito is and will always be a great villain no matter how much some people doubt, criticize and make fun of his cause for starting a war.

I prefer obitos story is the saddest & tragic because he doesn't deserves this. he just a weak, innocent & so-called idiot boy. yet, his life is full of dream. he want to become a hokage. he want to become stronger. he keep training to surpass kakashi & the others. he asked Rin to watch him until he officially becoming the next hokage. Rin was Obito lights & hope. Rin keep support Obito. Obito didnt have parents. So, Rin is the precious thing that Obito ever have. When he was crush by the boulder, he thought his dream was over. He gave Kakashi his Sharingan & asked him to protect Rin no matter what. But, when he woke up, he was still alive. Then, his dream continues. Too bad, after he witnesses Rin death right before his eyes, his heart & mind is shattered. He lost his light & hope. Everything is change after that. Its kinda sad when we looked into Obitos smile in the past. He just want to become a Hokage.
Obito isn't a hero, but you do have to admit the fact that he manipulated a whole S-Rank Rogue Ninja organization to get him closer to his goal, him manipulating Sasuke, and the fact that he's essentially responsible for everything that is going on right now is pretty badass.
Obitos story is a sad one, I can relate to how he feels on some level. I mean he died protecting his friends, he entrusted the love of his life to Kakashi who was unable to prevent her "suicide". I adore his(obitos) story and I enjoy watching darkitty 669 videos so much because they rekindle the love I have for both the anime/manga and make me revisit the feelings I had in them. Obito was just a 13/14 year old kid when his whole world shattered. He felt anguish, heartbreak, pain and loss in the death of his childhood love. He also felt betrayal, anger and despair as he witnessed his newly best friend and comrade breaking his last promise. Obito was just a kid when Madara found him and fed him lies and promises of a better and brighter life within a dream. All of what Obito cared about was reuniting with his old friends. Even if the real Kakashi was alive and right in front of him. Even if he fought or killed his real friends and sensei. He followed Madara's plan in order to feel love and acceptance after many painful years...My point is that Obito is and will always be a great villain no matter how much some people doubt, criticize and make fun of his cause for starting a war.
Obito .. I totally know how he feels .. I lost 4 friends this year getting shot by the army infront of me - in case you're aware of the situation in Egypt - I know how it feels to lose someone close to you.

Anyway, i really do think that Obito deserved to be a hokage. I know that there are so many ppl hating on him, but that's because the only thing they can see is his cruel stuffs. Would you risk to save someone's life, even tho you'll lose your half body or even it can be worse? And even if you did, woulf you train so hard just to see someone who you loved? Would you try to take her back no matter what? Or all of those Obito haters would just give up, walk away when their friends dies in front of their eyes, moves on when someone pass by? when it first came out and i saw it, one of my fav anime with one of my fav song, i was so obsessed with this amv, I didn't even have an account back then; now after so many years it still has the same effect, exactly 10 years later i didn't even notice it was in 2012 i was in school & its 2022 now, randomly I recalled this amv........good times and thought its quiet late now but still.... You didnt pay attention to what jiraiya when he told us about orochimaru. He lost his parents in wars and he lost and depressed all the time. He then started picking interest in jutsu and that interest grew into much more of a need for him. He wanted to learn every jutsu possible...it was like addiction for him. he wasnt power hungry...He was trying to fulfill his goal which was to learn every jutsu possible
