This is a very cool idea and I'll likely be making use of this in my games to emphasize the wind. Would you consider making a follow-up video to this on how to make dynamic wind-effected flags with smartbone? I've been attempting to make one for a while, but it's difficult to get the mesh to deform correctly.
bro, i've been seeing so many videos about amazing things ranging from front and back end, cool abilities, dynamic objects, etc and i keep seeing more of them *BUT* *BUT* when are we ever gonna get a game with those advanced things? its like people keep making all of that amazing stuff but it is often left unused nice cloth bro, we could get whole drippy sets in an rpg game with dynamic flow
Thanks, also I believe we're getting tech like this in Venture, and I saw few of them being used in different prototypes too. It's a matter of time when people start using them.
Actually, it won't make any difference in terms of performance because there is too little amount of polygons ( triangles as roblox calls it). It will start lagging if its spammed
Very nice tutorial. I'd just like to know how to make collisions with the player if possible. :) Edit: I mean I'd like to know how to make the character able to interact and move the cloth while walking into the cloth.
Is there anyway to add gravity on the smartbones? when I flip them over to the side theyre still going in a straight line and not falling down with the gravity
I have been wondering something that I've been hoping would be a possibility for a VERY long time... Is there a way that Individual Root parts of the mesh could be welded to other sepperate part's/Cubes so it could Mimic Curtain opening and closing movement, Or be able to be dragged around in sections rather then all at once ? A tutorial on the matter would be lovely, But I wont ask that of you, But if you do then thank you 😊, If not, No worrie's And thank you for your reply whenever you get to it ❤
You can weld a mesh to a different bone only if that mesh has a bone itself, and if you want to do something like a curtain, you could create different cube meshes (and add an armature with only one bone) for each bone the curtain would have, and weld each corresponding cube to the bone, then move the cubes in a sequence to simulate the effect. I'm not entirely sure how the curtain would behave tho, and I don't know if I'm going to make a tutorial on it.
@@Paul1RbI'm for sure gonna need it 😅, I've imported my curtain inti studio and it's got the bones and all but... Only the string of bones in the center moves as if it where a stick.. It also deletes itself / Turns invisible when I get close to it and stays that way afterwards.., Any idea what I might've done wrong ? Thank you for the help in advance ❤ And I hope your doggo is doing well! 😊 EDIT: I've figured out what the issue was! I needed to add attributes in order for it to behave properly and actually work well! Only issue is I cannot figure out the collisions with the new 2nd version, Hoping you can help us out with that in the next video! 😊
Will you update the view bob cause it is currently broken for me, It shakes violently when I turn unlike the smooth one (I have like a script that adjusts the FOV but I'm not sure if that's causing it)
Making it have a cloth-like flow would require some extra nodes and math calculations, which seems like a lot more work than moving your cursor over the mesh few times.
@@Paul1Rbidk about that its actually fairly easy to get that working I don't use roblox but it is definitely going to be cheaper compared to using bones and easier in the long run because you could reuse the same nodes over and over the only disadvantage would be less convincing cloth movement but thats not a problem for most stuff so I guess both methods have advantages and disadvantages
@@Fhujjbv Roblox Studio is very limiting and requires you to use bones for this type of stuff anyway. There aren't tools that allow for node-based logic for a purpose like this, If I were to only make it in a 3D software, I would probably choose the displacement method, but yeah.
Not really sure if I'm missing something pretty obvious, but for some reason in the curves tab there is no sign of any Arc's or essentially anything from under the Simple Curves text??
In my opinion i dont think its very realistic to have the cloth pre-wrinkled like that unless its very stiff or something, small wrinkles near edges or corners would be better
I respect you are explaining how to do this but for gods sakes PLEASE just release the bloody model for it! To me there is no point in gate keeping assets like this if u got 2 tutorials on them anyway!
