The black components on the first necklace might be Guta Percha.
I forget how it is made, google will know. It is a lovely necklace.
Maybe Pink Topaz for the gorgeous necklace.

Hi Mary! Thanks! The pink stones light up under blacklight, so I'm thinking that they are spinel or ruby. I did some research and the black and green necklace is from North Africa, and the black beads are sort of a composite and super light weight.

Hi Elizabeth! I just happened to come across a similar necklace as the first one you showed- it is a Northern African necklace mostly worn by married women, the dark beads are called “skhab” they were made with different herbs into a paste and were meant to be aromatic while being worn. The green beads may be Bakelite or just resin. Great find!

Well right off the bat I love that first necklace! Is it Victorian? Actually I would suspect it was jet. Elizabeth you should not have to apologize for something you have no control over. I stick out my tongue and blow raspberries at anyone who complains! We luv you as you are!
