Hi Ali, This was really fun watching you open the box. I am someone who has worked with crystals, rocks and sem- precious stones. I thought you would want to know that there are many of these that warm to the touch, it depends on who is touching them. I love those glass earrings. Such beautiful facets cut into them. I just happened upon this video and love it! Old jewelry is my passion and i have quite a bit from my grandmother. Your personality is so fun & really down to earth. Very educational!
I worked with the guy that went to an estate sale and he bought all the books, and then those boots was a book that opened up, which he had a belief. He told me it was emerald cut diamond, and they told him it was his he bought everything. A very large diamond.
Hello Ali , Watching you unbox your jewelry treasures was almost as much fun as Christmas! You shared info about each piece and gave tips on what to do for unmarked brands. I like to make jewelry when my arthritis doesn't get in the way. I mostly string beads and findings or I will try to beadweave a piece of jewelry. I also enjoy thrifting in my little town. You never know what you will find while thrifting. Thanks 4 sharing.😊
Well this unboxing really intrigued me. Wasn’t sure what I would see or learn. And I saw and learned a lot. So I subscribed. I certainly want to learn more. I was really interested in the heart amethyst pendants. First, my mother’s birthstone was amethyst and we, 8 children, all grew up loving purple stones and variations of purple tones in many other artifacts, furnishings. And my mother was born on February 14, 1924., Valentine’s Day. So hearts and amethyst have great sentimental value for me and many of my siblings. Happy to discover you on New Years Day 2024. My mother would be 100 years young next month. She passed at 88 years young. Peace and Blessings to you, Ali Borealis, and All! ☮️💟💍💎✝️
@@AliBorealis I m looking forward to learning more of your jewelry journey and checking out certain items you may be selling from time to time. Hello, Ali Borealis, and Happy New Year 2024! 👍🥰❤️
I know I'm a year late, but I think it would have been a wise decision to leave he cushions on the clip-on earrings and let the purchaser decide. They might want them for originality reasons. I also felt you were rather rough handling some of it. Otherwise, I have enjoyed your haul.
I've been watching others shop around goodwills.. this was awesome as I'm more interested in jewelry... i like your detailed info. And Mini magnifying glass is so handy!
Last November I was very rapidly dying and I hired someone to send my stuff to Goodwill, aside from things my family might want later. Surprise! I ended up recovering, but not before my jewelry had been dropped off. Someone who rescues class rings saw mine and put the clues together to try to find me -- and they did! They sent me the link and I asked Goodwill for my ring back. Goodwill refused because I couldn't remember what was inscribed inside even though other info could be verified. My ring sold for $10. I'm more attached to other pieces I've lost, but still...
This video was done well: the knowledge of yours made it enjoyable. You had much 🎉voice! I’m home from a medical procedure and it gave me a few minutes of joy.
New sub. I used to resell on ebay. I was hospitalized fror a month and had to stop. I have a whole room full of jewelry. I have to have a yardsale. If I die and still have it my sons will toss it all. Then I will haunt them. Lol.
I’m so sorry to hear you were in the hospital for a month! I hope you’re doing better now. Yeah, time to sell, other family members have no idea what they’re looking at when it comes to our jewelry stashes! Lol! I appreciate you watching. 😊💖
That was really fun. That fancy pendant is DEFINITELY a LOTR low cost item. Still very beautiful. Lots of other goodies. You got way more than you paid for it. I am pleased to have learned from your expertise and truly enjoyed your enthusiasm. I will definitely hit the subscribe button.
It looks like pandora bracelet that was made from sterling silver and most of the beads were sterling silver and you picked the beads cost around about $35 and up. It reminded me of the charm bracelets had when we we’re younger 😊

I’m glad UA-cam recommended your channel to me. I love picking channels and never considered jewelry lots. I learned so much about vintage jewelry! I am not a jewelry gal myself so this was fun to watch. Definitely subscribing.
Thank you!! I actually don't wear jewelry either, if you can believe it! Several years ago I started working for an estate sale company liquidating house contents and they needed someone to learn how to sort estate jewelry. It's been quite a ride!! I appreciate you watching and subscribing!! :)
Much loved the bags they would sell in the stores every Wednesday. Way before the people taking in the donations got to cherry pick everything off the top of all that comes in. At least for just over a year we had some really good deals and my granddaughters have some beautiful jewelry.
I'm so glad you were able to get some nice things for you and your granddaughters before everything changed with thrifting. Sometimes I still find a bag or two with good stuff! Thanks so much for watching my channel! 💖
O C Tanner is a company that makes corporate gifts for anniversaries. I used to work for a bank that gave out corporate anniversary gifts from them and I also paid the invoices for the purchases as I worked in Accts Payable. From what I remember the prices we paid on these gifts was costly. The items that were given to employees were charged at the current gold value rate .
Oh rats no conclusion ending…. Love it when they line all the good stuff up so folks can see how lucky or unfortunately lucky you were with the mystery box and to see if it was worth ordering one. Thank you for posting!
Really nice job editing your video, I especially like how you show detailed photos and additional information you found in your research. I love these getting these boxes too, but the auction prices are going up. I recently got one that was vintage and the majority was filthy and had verdigris on almost all pieces. Ugh. Keep posting!
Thank you, I’m happy you’re enjoying my channel! 💗😊 Yes, prices seem to be going up, which is fine for a good box, but so many have little value in them. Totally stinks to get a vintage box full of verdigris! ☹️
If you see silver color under gold, you could test that metal as well to rule out sterling. Not super common but also not uncommon. Vermeil is one type of k gold over sterling silver.
The Brighton one? I think I still have it! Email me if you'd like it, I'll give you a good price. I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖 AliBorealisChannel@gmail.com
I’m glad I stumbled across your video I’m not usually on UA-cam a lot but I was watching someone else that got a truckload of return goods and yours popped up under that so I switched over to yours. for the past year and a half I have been purchasing items at Auction’s and I have bought from American thrift supply and Goodwill. I haven’t purchased a jewelry because I had heard some bad things about it but I have purchased the stuffed animals and the new clothes with tags and without tags and I can tell you the box I think was like $179 but I got like $500 in clothing in the box plus 4 brand new shoes some of the items I will be keeping for myself but I found your video very informative because I have bought tons and tons of bags and boxes full of costume jewelry at a local auction that I’ve been biding at and I have recently been sitting down trying to look stuff up on Google. The Google photo search is very helpful and I have just about every antique vintage book guide that they make for pottery sports cards furniture and collectibles but it’s hard to find anything on jewelry, because there are so many brands. Most books have a few pages and that’s it. I do have an encyclopedia of maker marks and that’s been super helpful. You said some thing about testing the gem is that the same thing is a diamond tester?? because I have the liquid and the black scratchpad you have that you did the test on Sterling and I have the diamond tester but I haven’t used it yet so I didn’t know if there was a different gem tester that I should get because I found a lot of those service awards and some of them have pink or red stones and I would be interested to see if they were actually real or not without going to an appraiser. If you do find jewelry that’s broke or that’s missing one or two stones there are people that will buy on eBay broken or junk jewelry so they can make crafts or make repairs. I’m happy I stumbled upon this today and i have subscribed and I’m excited to watch other ones!! ❤️
Hi!! Ouuu, it's so exciting to sort through all of the jewelry! Sounds like you have quite a bit of it. Your best bet for researching and pricing is to search sold comps on ebay or Worthpoint and read the descriptions as well. Some sellers will give you a lot of information on vintage jewelry brands. Pieces with rhinestones tend to sell for more money. You're on the right track with testing metals. I usually use the Presidium II for gemstones, just because it gives you a range of gemstones other than diamond. Yes! People will buy crafts bags of jewelry, for sure! What part of the country are you in? I'm on the west coast. Thank you sooo much for subscribing and watching! :)
The double cross tie tack 10K, is Masonic, often given to honorary members. The 2nd piece of masonic symbol was put into a Bulova (different) box. The one glove clip is in a Greek key pattern. The turquoise costume ring is patterned after a Navajo wedding band ring, albeit faux. The two heavy, sterling silver bracelets with the blue, purple colored stones inlay marked T/S. "T" us for Taxvo, location; and the "S" underneath is possibly markers mark. The second initial is often the artist's initial. They are probably a "Mother/daughter" set, or for siblings. Hope that helps.
That was fun! I worked for a company who gave out rings, pins and pendants with real gems for years of service. I have a few things that I need to double check.
Learned so much from you! TFS!! I want to order a costume box for personal jewelry!!! Prefer earrings & rings but looks random. At any rate, based on you’d, it seems as 1 can’t go wrong
I find a lot of other countries mostly sell 18K or even 24K. 14K is popular here, and 10K is a little more affordable. Thank you so much for watching my channel! :)
Higher gold content, wears more than a lower content. I had an antique turquoise 24 k gold ring, and had to stop wearing it, because it started wearing down.
First time watching, and I’m hooked. I normally don’t do costume jewellery, but I really like the stretchy silver/diamanté bracelet. It would look gorgeous over a long black sleeve. In the UK, I don’t think we really have anything comparable to the size of your Goodwill. We have charity shops everywhere - which people donate to, and they’re extremely popular, particularly now in such economically trying times - but I assume they have people who very carefully go through donations to remove anything that can be sold at higher prices. I’ve definitely only ever seen costume jewellery there. Ooh - and I’m rewatching all the Hobbit/LOTR movies right now. 😊
Hi!! I appreciate you watching my channel all the way from the UK!😊💖 I'd love to go vintage shopping there. Don't you have car boot sales?? We don't have those here. Sounds fun! Great movie choices, btw.
@@AliBorealis Helloooo👋 Yes, we do have car boot sales - there’s a massive one near me every weekend during the better weather. It’s definitely the place to find bargains. I had a Pandora bracelet. It was full of Stirling silver beads set with stones and I had quite a few Murano glass ones. It was stolen along with all my other jewellery when we had a burglary. I was heartbroken as I had things I inherited from my Grandma, some of which she inherited from her Mother. I claimed on the insurance but no amount of money can replace what I lost. Hello there,as someone who has metal detected for years and been a regular at yard sales, swap meets and thrift stores i would highly recommend that you get a couple of small disc magnets and perhaps a dual magnification loupe 10x and 11x both available at Hobby Lobby ! You can attach the magnet/ magnets to a popsicle stick with Elmers glue .Gold or silver will not be attracted to the magnet (s) so you can sort throgh big piles easily ! This was really fun watching you open the box. I am someone who has worked with crystals, rocks and sem- precious stones. I thought you would want to know that there are many of these that warm to the touch, it depends on who is touching them. I love those glass earrings. Such beautiful facets cut into them. Thanks for sharing this box!
That’s amazing, I can see everyone is different so some people’s energy can warm stones, where most people can’t. Thank you for watching!! 😊
First time watching your channel loved all the detail you gave love the description and the enthusiasm that you bring. You give such great good ideas on how to authenticate your jewelry where you get your jewelry boxes from and the idea of asking a jeweler to authenticate some stuff is really good
Thank you! I work hard to give a lot of good information and resources for all of my viewers. 😊
I agree with everything you have said
I’m 72 now and I had a necklace like the cross with the Lord’s Prayer in it. Loved it.
They are really special necklaces! I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
You just gave away my secret come up.why would you give your source to the competition? Now your box will cost more.
I just happened upon this video and love it! Old jewelry is my passion and i have quite a bit from my grandmother. Your personality is so fun & really down to earth. Very educational!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
Old jewelry I like that
I worked with the guy that went to an estate sale and he bought all the books, and then those boots was a book that opened up, which he had a belief. He told me it was emerald cut diamond, and they told him it was his he bought everything. A very large diamond.
Wow what a find!!!!
Wow!! That's amazing! So many people hid jewelry and valuables in odd places. Good for him! Thanks so much for watching my channel! 😊💞
OMG - The Avon necklace was one of my favorites back in 1979! I was 19. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my, that stinks! Thanks for watching my video. 😊
I work for an insurance company and for my 10 year I got a sticker 😂
Time to find a new job if that's all they offer
Hello Ali ,
Watching you unbox your jewelry treasures was almost as much fun as Christmas!
You can put eye glass sponge foam in the back of them ear rings . It protects the ear from hurting from the clip 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you, I appreciate you watching! 😊
Thank you so much for a very interesting video. I love jewelry and have just begun to learn more about it. I appreciate the information you shared.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching my channel. 😊💖
Wow, happy 100th heavenly birthday to your mom!! Thanks so much for watching my channel! 😊💞

Great video...and yes, the cushiony thing came with the earrings back in the day.
Thank you, I appreciate you watching my channel! 😊
I know I'm a year late, but I think it would have been a wise decision to leave he cushions on the clip-on earrings and let the purchaser decide. They might want them for originality reasons. I also felt you were rather rough handling some of it. Otherwise, I have enjoyed your haul.
The elephant bead goes on the charm bracelet. Looks like a Pandora bracelet.
Thanks for watching, I’m still learning about these style charm bracelets. Glad to know these are Pandora style. 😊
I've been watching others shop around goodwills.. this was awesome as I'm more interested in jewelry... i like your detailed info. And Mini magnifying glass is so handy!

Tina could have passed away and her family didn't realise what it was. Just saying, that's how a lot of stuff ends up at goodwill.
That’s probably what happened. So many people don’t know what to do with things after a family member passed. Thanks for watching! 😊
That’s exactly what I was gonna get on her and say. Thanks!
I have watched storage locker and hoarding buys on UA-cam and have seen this medical pin.
@@AliBorealis❤❤
Lol.

Wow, thanks for letting me know! I appreciate you watching. 😊
Red bead is 925
Oh rats no conclusion ending…. Love it when they line all the good stuff up so folks can see how lucky or unfortunately lucky you were with the mystery box and to see if it was worth ordering one.

That hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Yes, earrings came with pads on the back. I have wore them. Years ago. Still have a few pair.
In Sweden the only gold that has value is 18 k.
I noticed that in USA 10k or 14 k is very popular.

Yes, we do have car boot sales - there’s a massive one near me every weekend during the better weather. It’s definitely the place to find bargains. The “cushion backs” that are identical to the earring back came with the earring for comfort and grip. You could also buy them separately however they wouldn’t match the shape so perfectly.

However in the case of some 10k gold chains, the clasp may contain a small steel spring which will be attracted to the magnet, then the loupe 11x comes into play .
