Oh man Dom Congrats!!! Such a beautiful cinema camera. I’m really thinking about selling my red and getting an Arri. Now that Nikon bought Red. Can’t see Red lasting very long. This is Troy lol
Hey Dom. I shoot a lot of sports/sports doc work, as well. I replaced the production handle and VF arm with the lightweight handle(LCH-1), the UAP-3 top plate, the LWS-6 15mm rod holder and run the VF like I do on my Amira with the MVB-1 on a set of 6" rods. Allows me to push the 35 all the way to the back of the shoulder mount to balance out with my 17-120 and 25-250 and push the VF far enough forward to be in the right spot. And as a bonus it looks and feels like a much cleaner build vs. with the production handle and "double dog bone" VF arm. When I reached out to my dealer to order the pieces(after only having the camera for maybe a day), they said they had several people doing the same thing, because they didn't like the VF arm, either.
I am now doing a similar setup with the top rods and MVB-1 pushed forward. I think the lightweight handle is in my future too. This rig gets heavy quick.
Enjoy your Alexa 35, it is by far the greatest camera I have used (and own). It will not disappoint you. What batteries are you getting? I went with Bebob (solid performers).
Hey Dom! Have you see new release from DJI? The DJI Focus Pro ? If so, would love your thoughts for filming sports! Seems great if you are shooting a single person but not sure on an complex scene like sports and football
Question . Since you use cinema glass for sports , when looking through the viewfinder do you use peaking throughout the action to nail focus ? Or what do you do for peak action? (Not stationary subjects)
The Arri cameras have really great peaking features. They have a peaking setting called “aperture” vs. color. I usually set my peaking strength to 9 under the aperture setting.
Hey dom ! I’m another video you mentioned that the Fujinon 85-300 can be used with an extender . Can you tell me which extender is that exactly ? I can’t find it listed on B&H
Congrats Dom! Enjoy the camera, can't wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks! Your Arri Academy tutorials on UA-cam were a huge help prior to me unboxing my camera
Some day maybe I can afford to buy this beauty and experience its incredible capabilities firsthand.
I remember you telling me about this months ago!!! Super excited for you man!

Im going to check it out at NAB.
Congrats, Dom. Once it's all batteried up, about how heavy is the rig with your lenses?
I would assume around 20lbs.
boy thats a pricey upgrade!
Clicked the video just because I saw the Fresno State hat lol
Go ‘Dogs!

We use a PL to PL 2x extender made by iB/e optics.
Will you be making a video about the new Fujinon Duvo 24-300mm ? I saw that you gave it a try recently . Would love
To know your thoughts about it
At some point, yes. It’s a really great sports lens
Dom, how is your back with shooting with the amira handheld/shoulder day in and out?
thanks!
so far so good. I don't tend to shoot for multiple days in a row. During football season, I get a week between games to recover.
Wowowowowowow
But I’m mostly just here for the ASMR
Is this $100K setup yours or the NFL's? o_0
This one is mine.
Could you tell me where you bought this camera???
Yes from one of my West Coast Arri reps, Chase Hagen. He is based out of the Burbank, CA office. www.arri.com/en/contact/contact-form
@@DomTheDP Thank you so much!
RED is better .
