Ohhh I really love that this is one of the most prestigious brands in the world for filmmakers and they can be sooo relaxed and funny, love the humility and professionalism of everyone there. Amazing content dude.
fascinating video, definitely puts into perspective the price of those cameras. an image quality comparison with a cheaper camera wouldn’t account for the stress testing & quality control
As a German fellow I have to give credit where credit is due: your clothing is 100% on point. I really appreciate the honoring of the German culture, wich is absolutely not stereotypical.
Oh wow! I didn’t expect ARRI process even from wafer stage. And might be they're the once fabricating it as well. So, they do the wafer dicing on their own, so amazing! Thanks for sharing, Gene!
Actually ON Semiconductor (NASDAQ: ON) from Phoenix, AZ makes all Alexas sensors, from the original ALEV III to the new ALEV IV. Of course ARRI were involved in the design and color science. Then ARRI takes those beautiful wafers and builds Alexas :)
I love how Potato was able to get these extraordinary Arri engineers and professionals out of their shell haha, this video was both hilarious and really insightful.
Amazing to see that there are still companies out there who take this kind of attention to quality and detail. Far beyond anything that I could have imagined. Very cool!
ARRI is an empire. The gate keeper of the industry standard. German soul, quality and consistency! Respect. Mr. Jet always doing a real study, not the clowns around.
WOW, the lengths they go through for quality control is insane. It seems like you need to be certifiable to work for Arri. I tip my hat off to the Arri crew. Truly dedicated to their products.
"Herr Kartoffel" ich kann nicht mehr 😂! This was so amazing to watch, interesting, super funny and just worth every second. Enjoy your stay in Germany if you are still here :)
In 1989, I took a course at the ARRI factory in Munich on Türkenstraße, where I learned to disassemble and reassemble the 16SR, ARRI 3, and BL4. I still have my certificate, and I’ll never forget watching live on TV on 9th November as the Wall was being demolished by protesters. After finishing my course, I took a train to Berlin and managed to bring back a small piece of the Wall with me. I’m very happy to see how ARRI has evolved to become the leader in the industry. Hats off to German engineering, craftsmanship, and vision. By the way, back then, the factory canteen had no robot, and the food was horrible...lol!
Absolutely awesome! There's not too much content showing inside ARRI so it was awesome to see and meet so many of the team. Flying a drone inside their headquarters would have been insane too!
I rented at Arri Rental in Berlin a few times as an AC and it's nice to see the frienndly faces in your video. Always a treat to rent there. (They just should upgrade their coffee machine) 😅
0:49 I just love these Guys. As a German who has never worn a Lederhose, it‘s great to see this trio dressed up like this. (Also these pants are more a bavarian thing, than german…)
This is very cool. I worked at an Arri rental house in San Francisco back in the BL IV era. I was an accessory tech, meaning I cleaned filters and wiped down follow focus rings. 😅 I was the guy that fetched accessories for the ACs prepping cameras. Then I went to work in grip and lighting.
OMG, you have been to Munich and we haven't met.... especially in this outfit, it would have been an honor. Just tell me next time and I am going to show up in a leather trowser as well haha
Really cool to see inside the ARRI facility. I've never seen such a camera in real life but very cool to get an inside look on where and how they are made. Great team at ARRI, smart guys!
I just say thank you, for this tour! For this really feeling like in person - like we are been in the factory with you, all employs are so nice, means in every position, also with amazing English. And the second great stuff - is your "work" for brand awereness. I live in Czech/Prague iam really european guy and you show German in fancy, humor faces, like noone from states do :) Thanks, T.
Oh my god, this video is a masterpiece. Very informative and also so funny. I nearly fell from my chair, when i heard Dillan talking german. From now on i am going to call you Mr. Kartoffel. Greetings from germany Please do a part two to this video 🙏
As someone whos living in Vienna and knows Schlossgarten Schönbrunn, you have no idea how far they've actually walked with that transmission test hahaha
I love this video!! Your sense of humor has a wonderfully disarming effect. I love how serious the Germans are (25%, myself), and how you really put them at ease with your jokes. Great footage and info. too!!
5:29 Nice! When I worked at a military contractor we would take avionics boards and dip then in conformal coating then leave them for a few days in a climate chamber. I mean it definitely cycled colder than -20 and a lot hotter than 45. But it's cool to see anybody doing that kind of QA with non-military stuff.
I regret that I have only one click to give to Herr Doktor Potato. Wonderful Präzise Deutsche Ingenieurskunst. Would love to see more of the footage, even unedited explanations from the Arri team would be fascinating.
I love the hazing/induction ritual that they give you right out of the bat. _"You've got to hit the Alexa 35 with a metal weight so we know we can trust you. Do it, Gene. Do it or we can't let you take the tour."_
The optics engineer put clearly into a technical context why old photo lenses still look great even tho they can't make out so many lines as their modern couterparts. I'm sure there's a model to be calculated for all lens parameters but I truly believe old Zeiss T's beat modern razor sharp lenses subjectively. Modern pro cine lenses are great too but nobody can afford them for recreational use. The wide ARRI primes are incredible with their staight edged "window to the world" projection.
I’ve never wanted lederhosen so bad before in my life! (:51) Top notch video from Mr. Jet… Really! The whole tour, all of ARRI, especially the fight scene! Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Fantastic!
So I use to work for a small rental company. I would need to load those arri max , 2k blondes and all of the 4ot 2ot and Bandid cable onto carts or the pockets underneath the 10 ton trucks. My shins still show scars from every time the cable ends would meet my legs 😂. That cable is heavy. Probably why I have back problems now.
Haven’t watched a video of yours in ages, but now I’m an office assistant in a rental house a day a week (with Sony Cibealta and ARRI everywhere) this was super interesting
ARRI...the King of quality control and world's most successful camera/light production company. Now you know why Hollywood does not joke with this brand and any of his creations.
I once met the owner of Rimowa's travel bags, and germans are extremely perfecionists, he was actually friend's with Leica's owner and had a Leica S2 as a gift
This is the best beginning of the video! I already love you 3 guys 😆 ___ "Dont release the german shepards" 😆Im dying 😆😆😆 ____ Its so hilerious when youre talking about modern wireless focus pulling technology carriage with horses is casualy passing by on background😆 And i want to watch full lenght interwvews with all the workers in ARRI that youve shot
That guy in the black Arri Rental shirt talking about the NDA is the most German guy I've ever seen.
Nicht wirklich
that is the most german german to have ever german'd hahahah
Doch, schon :D
Fabiooo :)
and the guy with glasses at the rental too. they sure are for at least 20generation pure german blooded 😂
WE NEED A PART 2 of this trip. Arri´s facilities and quality standards are mindblowing
And the workers are so funny
Thats quite the standard we have here in Austria/Germany for many many technical products :)
Everyone seems like a bunch of nerds doing what they love most. Great vibes
Everyone seems like they're parsing gene's stupid jokes literally. Maybe I'm just tired
@@dudedavid522 No, they're just used to very precisely honoring what the customer tells them.
@@editingsecrets Modern Germans are pretty great. Gene too, fwiw
Huge props to Arri for having fun with you guys and providing that amount of access! Awesome as always Gene!!
Honestly just need this kind of opening scene confidence in my life
also. all the Arri people are so happy. :)
12:26 **carrie shaking the camera no** - lost it! hahah.
Gene: Is it minor issue?
German egnineer: IT'S OUT OF SPEC!!!
Ohhh I really love that this is one of the most prestigious brands in the world for filmmakers and they can be sooo relaxed and funny, love the humility and professionalism of everyone there. Amazing content dude.
7:22 "i would like to shoot on a red " 😂😂😂
sad they cut the answer
But It is still funny 😂
Germans are down to earth people, they have a great sense of humour.
This was hilarious, like showing up to BMW headquarters and saying you want to drive a Mercedes!
Potato Jet in Munich, that is awesome. Hope you enjoyed your time around here!
We need a second video for the rest of your footage!
Loving it
Exactly my thoughts.
Same. Love to see more footage, even if it's a basic edit.
Yes!!!!
yeeeeeess!!!
I just wanna see the rest of the fight scene
Loving Dylan's translations, gemuse, freuelien, katze, herr kartoffel, legendary.
😂😂😂 lol
danke
sound's damn convincing 😂😂😂
fascinating video, definitely puts into perspective the price of those cameras. an image quality comparison with a cheaper camera wouldn’t account for the stress testing & quality control
thats why these cameras are the most reliable and most chosen ones on big sets. if everything else goes to shit, ARRI still works.
As a German fellow I have to give credit where credit is due: your clothing is 100% on point. I really appreciate the honoring of the German culture, wich is absolutely not stereotypical.

You’re completely wrong
I am even more wowed now seeing the behind the scenes for their products.
I love how Potato was able to get these extraordinary Arri engineers and professionals out of their shell haha, this video was both hilarious and really insightful.
Amazing to see that there are still companies out there who take this kind of attention to quality and detail. Far beyond anything that I could have imagined. Very cool!
No one gonna buy their camera if their quality is not the best, ARRI cameras are more expensive than RED. A single Alexa 35 cost 70000$ usd.
But you get what you paid for. Great to see a look behind the curtains.
This was AMAAAAZING I love behind the scenes like this and am so happy for you to be able to come over here to see all of it.
ARRI is an empire. The gate keeper of the industry standard. German soul, quality and consistency! Respect.

When a 30min video feels like it´s been only 5. Absolutely impressive video!
"Herr Kartoffel" ich kann nicht mehr 😂! This was so amazing to watch, interesting, super funny and just worth every second. Enjoy your stay in Germany if you are still here :)
very intense fight scene!
i hope you both got paid the big bucks

8:53 like how Gene trying to make jokes and this guys is just serious.
Germany, Dude Germany
German dude sounds like he's making some sarcastic joke but he's just being a serious German guy
jaaa so sind wir deutsche halt xD Hier gibts es keinen spaß, nur arbeit!
This is just gold, need more of this. Honestly i wouldnt mind watching a whole uncut version, even if it meant it was 6hrs or more.
Great video! Much respect to ARRI for taking the time to give you the tour and show through how they work. Lots of good people there 👍
Thanks to everyone being involved with this. It was great seeing the inside of heaven.
Absolutely awesome! There's not too much content showing inside ARRI so it was awesome to see and meet so many of the team. Flying a drone inside their headquarters would have been insane too!
There are many camera expert out there, but Dr. Potato really can represents the way we would react in that environment.
❤ ARRI Cameras but this was so much more. Quite insightful !
The team was so warm & welcoming, I hope I can buy one someday 😊

OMG, you have been to Munich and we haven't met.... especially in this outfit, it would have been an honor. Just tell me next time and I am going to show up in a leather trowser as well haha
The ARRI videos by potato jet are always so fun
This is awesome to see. You get the sense where all the production money goes and validates the final price for the camera. Super interesting.

I still can't believe I've been to this Rental house once. They even let me have a bit of fun with the 65 camera. What a day that was!
This was just awesome to watch as a german and see you in this lederhosen tract! thanks to arri for all this insights, great video 🙏
Ya. This def needs a second video breaking down a lot of the information you got. This was awesome.
As someone whos living in Vienna and knows Schlossgarten Schönbrunn, you have no idea how far they've actually walked with that transmission test hahaha
What a bunch of nice people!
Great docu, well done!
Loved this. I hope there will be more coming from this because it feels like a lot of good stuff was cut out
This was a fascinating video. I’ve used Arri lights for decades and always admired the flexibility and quality of their systems.
Thank you for putting this out there. As a fellow filmmaking nerd I wouldn’t be able to contain myself. I would spend 15hours there if I could
Amazing to see more stuff from them behind the scenes. Amazing attention to detail and quality with all of their products.
Love these factory tours. Please show us the rest of the footage!
What an informative visit. This is the highlight of your channel!
Sehr gut! Smashing cameras and Dylan. I love this!! Fantastic to get this insight behind the doors of Arri.
We definitely need the sequel😂🙌🏻 very interesting video👍🏻👍🏻

This was just amazing to watch, you’re very lucky Dr Potatoe!
I knew about ARRI as standard in Film Industry, but this episode is just mindblowing to me

I will show this video to anyone asking why Arri gear costs more than a fancy car or where the giant production budgets go... Excellent content!
This was hilarious and so entertaining 😂 I need to see a part 2!
One of my favorite videos on this channel. Need a part 2!
i would like to shoot on a red camera lmaooo 7:17

Nice, you visit Austria ...hope, you enjoyed our country😊
I have met Mark at BsC this year ! Absolute legend :)
Has any big network approached you to do a reality show? You could use this as a pilot. Pure gold.
incredible craftmanship that goes into the body
That was super enjoyable - thanks to you all, including ARRI of course :-)
Dr Potato, outstanding job!
Damn I didn't expect to be so engrossed and entertained by this kind of video! Lovely project, worth the year of wait!
It is simply amazing! Please do a part two for us!😀

Hi Gene! Been a fan of you ever since. Love your content! All the best.
Please release all the other peoples insides! Would love to see more from Inside Arri 🙌🏻
The scene with Dylan speaking in German and then the woman saying “hello” CRACKED me up!!
Love this video. Fun stuff, amazing BTS...with your personality everywhere! Keep on killin' it!
This channel should change name to Herr Kartoffel 🤣
