"If you do what is easy, your life would be hard. If you do what is hard, your life would be easy." I will take the challenge. I have 1 year to prepare myself.
This is Part 1 of 2. I will finish the 2nd part in a few days and it will be ready for uploading by Thursday or Friday. Stay tuned!!!
Can you mention another school for seafarer with no military n sure shipping compny
It seems like the Philippines leads the world in this sort of discipline. Respectable people who leave that academy.
I have had the privilege of having some of your graduates work for me when I was at sea......excellent people, very well trained and disciplined!
It was my honor and pleasure Chief!
I took the entrance exam in PMMA and passed and was subject to medical examinations. Unfortunately, I failed psychological tests as I was deemed aggresive in nature. Being declared unfit for admission, I decided to move on to other career paths. I am now a registered civil engineer so all is good now for me. 😄
The most aggressive "civil" engineer in your class, I'll bet!
:D
Good fortune to you, sir!
@@KutWrite Ha! Being aggresive is an understatement for me right now. I'm having a hard time dealing with "fannies". Thanks btw 😂
In the end, the school does not define you: you define yourself through harnessing and using God-given gifts. :)
It was also my dream to join the PMMA. My dad did not approve because I was then a very skinny kid but he eventually gave me permission to apply. Unfortunately, I was deemed unqualified during the physical exam. It was where I found out that I have color blindness. I never even knew before that. It was a major disappointment for me.
I ended up taking and completing a BS in Computer Science degree and then worked as a systems developer. The good thing is that I really also enjoyed that kind of work and had a good career.
This is such a big help, Chief Makoi especially to those who are planning to study there.
For all the comfort we want there’s a lot of hardwork and discipline behind, in every field. This video is amazing!
hi Chief, this was very interesting and brought back my training as a young man when i joined the U S Coast Guard back in the 1960s.it was the best thing i ever did and it has helped me through all of my life and i am now 76 years old.
Very well done sir, thank you for showing a lot of us a world we would not otherwise have the opportunity to ever know about.
Look how far you've come.
Chief always a pleasure.
👍From Los Angeles
Undergoing such training develops a certain kind of dedication that is difficult to achieve outside of a military type training. Few will understand the logic of subjecting oneself to such procedures, but for those who underwent such trainings or similar ones, know, that what we learned, will always be a solid foundation for our lives. Watching this makes me long for those times when I was a cadet. Albeit it was in highschool, and in the rotc. I was never able to pursue that aspect of my life, as I took my college degree in the premiere state university in our country. But I will always look back the days when I was a cadet in Highschool, and in the ROTC as part of the SSB and MP. The physical and metal hardships we went through during those times, helped in shaping me as a person. And if fate would allow, and in another lifetime, I will pursue that career. For a part of me yearns to be in that setting, a regimented life, thanks Chief Makoi for proviing a glimpse of cadet life. And even though it might seem tough, hard and exhausting, it surely builds character. Something one will carry with him/her for the rest of theirs lives.
Thank you for showing the world a better perspective of our alma mater. Keep on doing these great documentaries! 😊 Always looking forward to your next posts.
Thank you Chief- great insight into your commitment and understanding- as you would say” the way l see it” - may the cream rise to the top!!!
Thanks for the youtube videos you're uploading chief, really appreciate it sir.
Mahirap sa academy and mahirap din sa barko I promise you guys. But with hard training, mind set and preparations basta sa malaking barko ang sampa somehow its not gonna be hard at all. Thank you chief for the vlogs, more blessings to you so you can ment the next generations of sailors.
GOOD VIDEO CHIEF!! Thank you for inspiring us always!! Taking the examination this September
It is so nice to see young men and women doing some fine things with there lives, well done!
That was very interesting I understood a little with out the subtitles thanks to my Filipino work mates who are slowly but surely teaching me tagalog... I cannot wait for the next video ... salamat po chief for the Interesting videos u make 🙂
I love watching your video, though we are not near in our respective career. The lesson behind your video makes me respect and follow you. I am in the field of health care, went overseas right after passing the Philippines licensure exam, started as staff all the way becoming a healthcare administrator. I saw the similarities you have been through and I have been through. I hope future chief engineers are following you and learning from you.
I'll be waiting for Part 2.
I belonged to PMMA batch 1985. Unfortunately I did not finish the school. I was suspended for a year for answering the test questions for my classmates. I had a chance to go back but I chose not to because I was immigrating to the US. Though I joined the US Navy, I regretted that I didn't finish the school in PMMA. After the Navy I joined the US merchant marine as an unlicensed engineer. I was accepted due to my Navy experience. I eventually able to pass the 3rd engineer licensure after completing 1,080 seatime. I'm now 57 I hope I can still make this as a second career.
Question: even though you have been terminated or quit. Can you still try again??
@@jowencarrasco3795 In the PNPA AND PMA Unless it's just a suspension or turned back it's ok,but if you resigned, have been dismissed or discharged,No.
Pinoy's are known world wide for being Dedicated, Hardworking, Family men and women PMMA shows the same traits If i wasn't a old man And Pinoy I would sign up ! Hello from Canada
Chief makoi your video is still the greatest of all time!
Chief!!!
Thanks Chief. That was a good orientation (beginning) for us.
See you again soon.
I bet you are enjoying being home with your family for a while!
Fascinating Chief - pride in PMMA is well deserved!!
Thank you for having this vlogs, salutes to you chief 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻militarily I can relate separately as sailorsly. Cool
This is another great video Chief! I have so many questions. I will wait for the next video though lol. My days off are Thursday and Friday. Perfect!
I'm a cadet from Zamboanga City, we also experienced almost the same training as them. But PMMA is really different from other schools. Kudos to all graduates of PMMA.
Very interesting and answered a lot of my questions. Thanks for posting...………………..
Told YOU it was going to look great Chief.... Ye of little faith.. lol It's gonna be good to see the second part when it's up.
Wow. (Am late in coming to this.) But how informative. I never knew such an institution existed in the Phil., much less in Zambales, where my father was from! Mark, you also answered my curiosity as to why there was para-military training if it was only a merchant marine training school. Congrats. Job well done.
Praying for better result for my exam this coming september..
I also passed the entrance exam that time (2018) but sadly failed the neuro test. This will be my third time now, hopefully I will pass this time 🙏❤️
Incredibly moving and heartwarming brother👍💕
It was an honor to be part of the Long Blue Line
My brother graduated from Kings Point Merchant Marine Acadaemy in New York with a dual license, they had the same type of training and were in the navy reserve for a few years post graduation. He eventually became a nuclear engineer overseeing the installation of reactors in submarines but his favorite things to do were to teach newbies and going on see trials.
Ill be waiting of this❤
Thank u very much for giving me enough knowledge about PMMA.. I am a Futre PMMA cadet sir ai ai
Can’t wait to watched part 2
Thankz po chief makoi👍👍👍
Finally!! thank you po sa video chief :-)
Quite inspiring video. I studied at ENAMM (Escuela náutica del Perú) and besides there is a university with the merchant Navy program, studying there was the best option for me.
watchin them resign is like an insult to those who badly want to be part of the academyy but didnt make it ..it hurtss😥
Another great video... thanks!
My brother was a PMMA graduate at Fort Bonifacio. He work's at NASA. Now my youngest son surprised me. He is currently training at the PMMA. His ambition prevailed.
Very informative video, nicely done!
Good informative video of Merchant Marine Academy training🚢👍
This is very nostalgic sir... i remember my 4 days in the academy... i resigned due to dehydration... after waking up in the sick bay.. my arms were not functional anymore... i cant and couldnt raise them... it was a burning sensation in the arms... but its sad to know... that my body couldnt shoulder my dreams... i've wasted that chance... i've brought disappointment to everyone who believed in me...damn.. how i wish i could be there with my fellow co-probies
ANG GANDA NAMAN NANG PAGKAGAWA NG VIDEO CHIEF MAKOI
Level up na boss! ;) hehehe
Thanks for the informative video! It offers a good perspective of why the PMMA is valued as an institution. Wondering what you think should change though to make it even better.
There's a lot of room for improvement. But there are a lot of challenges in implementing them as well. First and foremost is the budget. I've spent 2 years as Professor and Disciplinary Director in PMMA so I know first hand how difficult it is to work in a government-run institution. I'm proud to say that during my time, I have made a lot of improvements in policy and Leadership and Discipline training.
Nice documentary 👍.
Shipping for my first contract in about 2 weeks as a oiler, wish me luck.
Watching here in spain 😍
# Proud PMMAyer
I really love it💙
Amazing video good job cheif
Nice kahit di ako nag graduate dyan hehe.
Ok po wait ko nalang po part 2.
Pa Heart Lodi Chief Makoi❤️
Took me right back to my army basic training 46 years ago.
Sir Macoy, I'm a maritime student studying in college where life is easy, I tell you what... I'm not disciplined, I wake up whenever I want, I sleep inside the classroom, I even skip classes sometimes that is why I wanted to change my life. For me, entering the academy is tge only option I got to be able to change.
I'm about to take the Neuro Psychological Examination this coming April 12-19 and you're videos sir are a great help for me. I'm going to take the challenge, see you guys after 4 years. I will definitely become an officer n Navy or PCG. Please pray for me. Thank you po ulit Sir Makoi for this video.
Same here mate, nagtake din ako ng neuro exam kahapon. Goodluck sa atin
Wow world class top notch training nice
The best sir.
Thank for your useful documentary film. It gives a lot knowledge to me.
At present, i am a Marine & Cargo Surveyor in Vietnam. I meet many cadet, C.O, C. E and Captain officer from Philipines, Myanmar but i've never heard they told their stories. I don't know it really discipline and tough from the begining like that. Really hat off all of you.
By the way, can i have a question, why the probe must Stand up straight and face thier face to the sky ? Can you help me to explain that? This is the first time i see this gesture
yaaaay uploaded naaa :>
Good luck mr. Benito and Vallejo ☝️
I’ve been watching your channel for a few months now and I think you’re doing a great job, keep up the great content 😎
See you soon PMMA❤️💪
Hope to pass the PMMAEE and the medical screening and neuro psychological examination.
Well done, Chief! Do they say "BZ" in your academy?
In spite of the attrition shown, this would be an outstanding recruiting video. I can't wait to see part 2.
Wish I can be part of the Philippine Navy🇵🇭
nasa school pa ako, papanuorin ko 'to mamaya hahahahahah
we' are waiting

ringing that bell is a great mind-body link ..I mean even walking up to it has to be a "are you sure of this " moment ...Personally ..I could never ring that bell I'd have to be just discharged
I'll be waiting for part two. I think I will take the exam this coming September 😇
Chief I highly suggest that you should provide subtitles below for those cadets who are speaking in our own language so you could cater all the viewers needs in terms of understanding their own viewpoints.
Thanks sir Makoi for the video. Request permission to share on FB sir.
Outstanding
This is the best timeee to hustle
The first time I watched your video, I said to my self that this guy is different from the rest. Fluent in english, though I don’t define intelligence as being a good english speaker I can say that “he’s well educated”. Now I know the answer, that is because you graduated in one of our fine school in the Phil.
I was a mariner as well before but now shifted to a different career (HSEQ Trainer - Maritime Industry) and I can say that the respect to you and to our colleagues are still there. Kudos to all the Mariners.
Yung sinabi ko na"hindi na siguro babalik" was my simple thought saying "I'm still thinking" Chief. Probationary midshipmen Buendia and Gonzales will be back Chief. After a month, I thought it would be as easy as forgetting that you failed the short quiz at class but then it was too far from that. I did have regrets that I failed and I can no longer afford spending more time thinking about it. I want to be part of the long blue line. See you soon Chief.
Notice me sir Makoi! Nice video!
I love PMMA
I know things are hard in the Philippines so many men and women have to go overseas to work. I have worked with many Filipinos and find them amazing people. They love G_d and family
ENGLISH SUBTITLES HAVE BEEN FIXED!!! Just press the "CC" button to switch on.
ask PMA Historian to give a short talk on PMA/USN 1919 to 1954
CHIEF, ILANG TAON ANG MILITARY TRAINING DIYAN 2 YEARS BA O 4 YEARS ALL THE WAY?
All the way.
@@ChiefMAKOi AH, PAANO PO YUNG MILITARY TRAINING NILA PAG 3RD YEAR? DIPO BA SHIPBOARDING NA SILA?
I actually have some research on that. The US Navy and the PMMA (formerly PNS) have close ties during the American era. The first commanding officer of the Offshore Patrol (pre-cursor of the Philippine Navy) was Rafael Ramos. He is a PNS graduate.
