      Right? So crazy
When i bought a "new" tv (my ex took our old one when he moved out) i just bought an "old" model, the model/design was literally only 2 years old, brand new flat smart tv for only 300$ because it is considered ugly and old fashioned
I can't belive people spend 2000$ on that tv

@@trishpipkins I know right. If I want to upgrade I either gift it, donate or sell it and I buy second hand when i can. I upgraded my TV but only because of size because 20" was too small but I had another use for my old one. Upgrading for no reason and just chucking it away is so wasteful

It’s great to hold on to things. I have clothes from 4 decades ago. I like holding on to stuff. My mum claims it’s the Scottish in me. But sometimes, especially with electronic equipment, stuff becomes incompatible. Then it won’t work and it’s darn near impossible to get parts for repair. And it can become more expensive to keep old stuff going than to just go ahead and buy new.
The pace of technology is actually accelerating. I don’t particularly like it, but given that it allows us to have not just new, but better equipment and systems, it’s hard to insist that companies forgo better technology in service of longevity.
As consumers we should require the companies we buy electronic products from to create more environmentally friendly recycling systems.
The newer ultra-thin TVs aren’t just sleek and sexy. They are more energy efficient and because they are lighter they require less fuel to ship----also less packaging.
Their lighter weight and smaller depth means they are less of a strain on walls and floors too. Not that it is that big a difference. Those in areas of the world that are prone to lots of small earthquakes, especially those who live in high rises, might care about this feature.
Newer TVs are also internet ready. That’s not a big deal if you have phones, laptops, etc that are all capable of accessing the web. Not everyone lives this way and for now the majority of the population still feels that having a TV is more important than internet access. I’d argue for both and for everyone to have an antenna so that their TV will receive over the air signals.
I held on to my last mobile for 4 or 5 years, but newer technology convinced me to replace it. Having a new phone has improved my health and given my family greater peace of mind. My latest phone can read my blood sugar ( I have insulin dependent diabetes).
It may not seem like that big a deal, but it really is. For one thing, it’s much easier for someone else to use my phone to take a blood sugar reading than to use my glucometer.
My phone also allows my readings to be uploaded just about anywhere I am so that my doctors and my family have real time info on how I’m doing. Older systems that required cable attachment to upload readings had much lower utilization rates. Most of the time, it isn’t necessary to have this information but it provides peace of mind to those who care for me.
So far I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve never lost consciousness while I have been alone, but there have been times I’ve passed out and was utterly incapable of helping myself. My phone stores health information that is helpful to both my family and EMTs.
Another wonderful aspect of this technology is that it allows literally millions of people with diabetes to provide data to researchers. This technology permits much larger sample sizes for studies, much larger than could ever be conducted in person.
There are reasons to have the latest technology besides the cool factor. I actually don’t know how old any of my TVs are, but none of them are internet ready. If a TV comes out that improves telehealth visits, I’ll probably be an early adopter.

Top tip, in gallery framing the bottom edge of the mat is often a shade wider than the top and sides, especially if a piece is intended to be hung at eye level, because when it sits on a wall there's an optical illusion where the bottom tends to look a bit thinner (something something viewing angles something), so if all the sides are the same width it seems "off". Which is to say - you could totally have split the difference with the mat being a little wider at the bottom! Probably not as far as a 50/50 split, but you could for sure have pushed it a bit. Something to keep in mind when you use up all that board you have left over from this project for future artworks!

I don’t know if you realize this, but you guys do have a 45 degree angle clamp; I saw Kelsey use it on one of her diys and exclaiming as to why she never knew about it before. Had you used this, you would have not needed the painters tape or the popsicle sticks to get a perfect 45 degree angle. Perhaps you guys need to do an inventory of all your tools, put it on a spread sheet with the number of the bin showing where it is located. Just a suggestion from one of your grandma subscribers!

I was becoming tired of my dynex tv as well due to the bulkness. Due to this video, now I can make it feel new and fresh. Thanks. I believe mines is older than yours. Mine is the first version of HD TV when it was a new thing at that time.

Good for you for standing your ground and not throwing it away thats the problem nowadays and why we have landfills full of our junk.
