      Any advice on retiring and moving to a (very) possible and different career? The BBs talk about "death of the ego." I'm more of the opinion that the ego gets satisfied doing something else, as long as it's right.

    Great show Jay, fun to hear the excitement still in your voice as you talk about some of the greats back in the day. Guest posers of those that I saw were Jeff and Cory Everson, Sharon Bruneau that impacted the way I trained, or my girlfriend then wife now, would train. Jeff would put on a clinic of how to train, and what not to do while training. I still follow his lessons to this day. Now you impact what I do as well. Keep this stuff coming Jay! Continued blessings to you and yours!🙏

    Thanks again Jay and Dave (FTB) taken us along with you guys, great conversation and memories it’s always great !!! SR. I went to a lot of shows back in the 70s through 2000s went mostly to see the guests posing saw alot of pros Weider sent alot of you guys out to shows one the most memorable was Sergio Sr. Got to have one on one conversation with him , we were leaving to the parking garage and cut through the back and he came out the back door and we were so lucky , we had our baby girl and he didn’t ask if he could hold her and he did , he was the most gentlest giant he was the biggest man I had ever seen his soldiers were bigger than my head , he spent about 15 minutes talking with us and of course I used all my film at the show, but at least I was able to get my picture signed as he was not at his table he didn’t make an appearance, it is one my best memories and of course when I met you here in Pueblo !!! SR.

    The guest poser that changed my thought was Mike Mentzer at the Mr.Minnesota bodybuilding contest after the Olympia when Arnold won the show Mike said Arnold had control over the Olympia because of he won the show so many in a row in the past. I went to Golds and Worlds gym a couple times in the 1980s and it was a site to be seen I talked to past Olympia winners and watched photo shoots from Muscle and Fitness magazine. Good Jay walking video guys these can never be to long it’s the best thing to watch so much interesting stuff you guys talk about .

    Memories... I saw Arnold and Franco guest pose at the Mr Pittsburgh contest when they were the current Mr Olympia. Franco also did his strongman act, in which he blew up a hot water bottle, just like in the movie Pumping Iron, and deadlifted 700 pounds for reps. Also attended the Pittsburgh Night of Champions/Pittsburgh Pro, and saw Robbie win in 1979. Entering the lobby to the shows, the BBs would be at tables, selling merchandise and signing autographs. They were superhuman up close. It's like watching basketball or football, then standing next to the athletes. Next to each other, they all look "normal," but up close, wow! Of course, this was my inspiration to train. Keep crushing it and bringing the content, guys. 💯👍💪

I was just remembering Arnold after bodybuilding when he became an actor but he still stayed on gear and was jacked until his early 50s I think and Jay is at the same point arnold was at around the late 90s I think. So it’s just cool to see their paths at these ages after professional competition

    I don't know, Jay... you remember the good old days when everything went too fast... but look at your life now: a wonderful house, a girlfriend with whom you can grow old in harmony, dogs to walk , neighbors to greet, a legion of fans who love listening to you talk during your walks, less violent but just as effective training sessions, an influence that endures... if we could go back and say to young champion Jay what awaits him in his future, would he be happy? I think so. You are an inspiration to so many people...

    Hey Jay, I’m a year younger than you. Been lifting for 30 years. Is it crazy at this age that I want to go “into the box” and take my base and pursue BB’ing Masters into my 50s and beyond? In top shape and wanting to know how big I can go? Your thoughts about strong healthy men our age taking our training to that level?

    • @TVResults
      @TVResults 11 місяців тому

      It isn't time to get bigger at this point, I'm 48 in a few weeks. I've off and on dealt with the reality that it is time to maintain as much as possible and I'm going to lose more and more as time goes on. It had become part of my identity to bodybuild. Life requires accepting change and growing through the changes. Anyone who pursues mass at this stage of life is putting their health at risk.
      Health is first and foremost at this point, so training has to be modified to something that makes a lot more sense. It frees up time for other interests and pursuits. Time is limited. I've been taking time to be more intentional about spending time with friends and family. Exercise is part of my life, it just doesn't dominate it like it used to. I had thought about it, I'm going to be glad I did these visits as time goes on. I don't think I'll have wished I had done more weightlifting. And at this point, it is what it is. I have no choice. The building years are over, like it or not for me.
      All the best as you choose what is best for you and your family.

      @@TVResults I respect your journey a hundred percent. Mine has been different. I’ve trained for 30 years but all natural and never obsessionally. I just love being in the gym and doing the work. My last check up, doctor said I have the blood work of a 30 y.o. and that I’m aging much slower than normal. I’m not married, have no kids, no family, no life really, and this is one thing that I’ve always loved to do and wondered what I can accomplish? Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. There is a balance to life but what the right balance is for me personally I’m not sure.

      @@danielhalem5799 I don't know your situation though if you have trained 30 years you have likely achieved your genetic potential relatively speaking. @@TVResults absolutely. Wish you the best! Thanks for the conversation. Depending on what I’ve been trying to do, my weight has fluctuated between 5’10 155 (trying to get really lean) and 200 (training heavy compound 3x week with an NPC super heavyweight Nationals competitor) At the moment I’m working toward building back up and it’s coming back better than ever. So it makes you think. For me it’s more enjoying the lifestyle and wanting to get more into it-but be a man and not a dumb kid about it. Jay’s been to beyond and back so wonder what he’d say about living that part of the journey at this age?
