    I find Aluula like magic under 20 knots but the smaller kites in high wind are fast enough for me without it.

      It’s about the stiffness and keeping the shape when overpowered in high winds that makes Aluula stand out for me, so small size makes 100% sense
      You just don’t feel strong gusts with the Aluula kites and thinner leading edges as you do with normal Dacron kites,

    I’ve put ‘beginner’ riders (riding upwind and tiny jumps) on an aluula kite and they were amazed at how much they loved it, thinking it was going to be ‘not for them’. Literally every riding level and style benefits. But the choice is yours to decide how much value you give to those benefits that make you scoop up the extra money. If money was no object I would recommend an aluula kite to anyone.

    I really wonder why you did not put Ocean Rodeo on the line too? They made this happen and should be the bench mark, right? Also what I heard is, that OR keep the "best" Alula for themself. The person, a rider for OR said, the surface quality is different but I did not saw any of them in real life to comapre.

    It hurts more when you pop the leading edge (Duotone EVOs) When I'm going for the most extreme tricks I always fly non-aluula and not worry about the slams. Saving the Aluula for refining the tricks I know. Also smaller sized aluulas are trickier to fly in big air with rotations. Disorientation and fast nature of aluulas is a bad combination.

    Your premise is Faulty - the brands just say that to make people feel good about buying an old Dacron kite. In reality everyone would be better off with Aluula it’s not even close and they are NOT harder to fly quite the opposite. They hold their shape, glide through gusts and are simply better in every aspect. You forgot the OG kite from our friends at Ocean Rodeo. Try a RISE and then tell me about your Dacron kite - it’s like swimming in a soggy pair of jeans. Aluula for me 1000%

    Most of the brands are using Aluula to make the perfect kite for the big air competition.
    The current Duotone Evo D-Lab has the same program as the Dice. I would love the Evo D-Lab to be designed as a real all around freeride kite (and use a Dice D-Lab for the competition).

    I think they want to justify the very high prices selling this aluula kites as Pro versions, and they also want to take the enormous advantage of wind range extension to the other kite line progressively but slowly to do not burn this advantage too fast, a thing that every company in earth do, unfortunately, to have always a new product slightly better than the last, words for the wise, few words

    Average age of a kiteboarder from 54 to 65 years old now. The kook festival of unaffordable kiteboarding continues. This will backfire, things like bought "skills" in the form of far easier loops is about as uncool as exists in any boardsport on earth lolol

    • @tenalock
      @tenalock 3 місяці тому

      @@mikemiller774 it really hasn't achieved anything imo except for gentrifying kiteboarding, the average riding standard is on average well down, the obsession with dangling under a kite while doing batton twirling - kooky and not inspiring for young riders that want to get into it, and there are no young riders left that don't have rich parents or sponsorship support. Ocean Rodeo has gone broke, the actual company that started this whole mess along side duotones corporate attitude of producing overpriced kites in cooperation with porsche. They killed kiteboarding for the next young generation by trying to sell a fairytale to rich middle aged men that ruined the sport. No forward thinking of a next generation by these kook companies, they simply ruined kiteboarding for greed. You absolutely don't need these expensive kites, it is absolute garbage. It is the same corpo pattern at work as seen in any other sport than can be exploited in any way for money.

    • @mikemiller774
      @mikemiller774 3 місяці тому

      @@tenalock A lot of things to unpack here...average riding standard - what does that even mean? everyone rides according to their acquired skill set. Dangling under a kite - one makes a choice of a kite discipline based on their preference, although majority makes an impact for sure. As for needing or not those expensive kites - are you saying that aluula kites are no better that regular ones? I think there is plenty of proof around that they are better and give riders more expanded options in control. As for prices - it's business for profits and as long there are new customers coming (including next generation here) and willing to pay it will just continue. And used equipment market is quite big with a lot of gear for cheap. Was there ever time when young riders could easily jump into kiting? Were kites ever that cheap?

    • @tenalock
      @tenalock 3 місяці тому

      let’s analyse, the industry is dying, they cannot afford to pay pros their salary any more, brands are closing, there are less young riders than ever getting into kiting, the overall standard of kiting has gone down, sure there are some closeout deals right now but that is directly due to the fact that kiteboarding dying- not to enable a new generation of kiters, the riders that young people should be looking up to are riding equipment they can never afford, it was already expensive to start with now it is rediculous, you have branding with Porsche and duotone marketing a young rider that the next generation should be looking up to, the style of riding does not appeal to the young generation because it is more like paragliding than boardriding, aluula kites are on crazy closeout deals. The potential new generation has nothing exciting to get them involved. It’s an allround fail, and it is due to corporate kooks involved in kiting pushing marketing fairytales on affluent middle and older aged men. It is called the gentrification of kiteboarding, and it failed. Good!
