I totally agree that a flashback to when they met as kids would have been so good. It's probably like a whole thing to throw a child off a horse and filming it, but it would have been cute to see little Colin and Eloise meet little Penelope it works for both the love story and the friendship story. And it probably would have been a better/more believable action scene than that hot air balloon.
ive been yelling it!!! like i want them meetig for the first time. or just clips of baby pen with her sisters making fun of her and her parents strained relationship, maybe baby colin feeling different than his brothers or something. i really enjoyed the flashback episodes in previous season gave us more context on who they are in general!
The recent Bridgerton controversy is how I learned that there are people who don’t think Nicola Coughlan is gorgeous, which is fundamentally baffling to me.
@@KoolKeithProductions there are a handful of spicy scenes, but the one you’re asking about is a little over 15 minutes into episode 3x05. i like redheads too ;)
Maybe those people are on TikTok? On Reddit, Fable, and Instagram, people are all screaming how gorgeous she is, but that the show has other problems. ...This comment is how I learned there are "fans" who only come for the spice - even on reaction channels? You know it's not shown here, right? I need a shower.
Colin doubting Pens feelings during their engagement party makes you realize, he’s just as insecure about pen loving him as pen is about him loving her.
Also a reflection of his insecurity after he thought Marina loved him but just needed someone get her out of her situation, and then to have her reject even his apology in season 2. Not that i blame her, but it definitely put doubt in his mind that he could be loved too! @PinkPopcast
Friends to lovers is a popular trope on it's own. I feel like we didn't get to sit with Colin & Pen's interactions as much. Any flashbacks to their childhood would have been nice too.
ik, i wish we had a flashback of them meeting for the first time, and Nicola and Luke actually said that they would have liked that, but there is so much going on that they didnt have the time (which i think is a bullsh*t excuse Netflix but okay😭)
It feels that way because it's true! Someone posted on Fable the actual screen time for each lead couple, and Polin had less than all the others across all seasons combined, including their own. I was so excited for them, but I just felt the quality as well as the quantity were lacking this season.
I love how they brought back from last season, Anthony telling Colin to make sure he tells Penelope that he loves her. Since the first time Anthony asked Kate to marry him she thought he just did it out of obligation since they... got carried away.
The “my love was not a thunderbolt from the sky” line sounds kind of clunky, but it’s actually from the books. Season 3 apparently has the most lines from the book, the “do I look a mess?” “Yes, but you’re my mess” is also from the book.
Yes! Colin spends alot of book time confused, because when Ben describes his love he describes the thunderbolt love at first sight, and since he cannot define the moment his affection turned to love for penelope he doubts his feelings
I LOVED that you pointed out the trauma response when she asked if he was sure. Besides Eloise, who was a friend, she has probably never been told she was loved. Even from her own family.
anthony happily in love and married to kate is the best thing this season. in all the other episodes before they married he was NEVER this boyish and joyful 😭 he rlly loves that woman sm (and as he should!)
As someone who has read the books and watched the series I totally agree with your comments so far. The problem with this season is that they needed AT LEAST the full 8 episodes just to cover the Colin/Penelope romance and Lady Whistledown storyline. Instead they crammed in the Francesca/John romance, Eloise/Cressida friendship, Violet and Lady Danbury's brother, the Montcreffs, and Benedict's shenanigans. As a result we didn't get a full and satisfying telling of ANY of these stories.
I think Portia loves her daughters, but she's very much a realist and a woman of her time. She prioritises finding suitable matches for her daughters because she understands that for most women of the ton, that's the only way to guarantee a somewhat happy life. She's sort of the antithesis to Violet because the idea of a true love match is foreign to her, but I do believe that she's happy Pen was able to find what neither her nor her other daughters were able to.
What you said about Portia being the antithesis or counterpart to Violet is genius! It hadn't occurred to be before! Since the beginning of the series the Featheringtons & Bridgertons were precisely supposed to be the opposites of each other and I applaud the creators for making them opposites in ways that go deeper than outward characteristics & behaviors :) I REALLY enjoyed Pen's arc with her mom. It was very unexpected but done so well!
no literallyy. lady bridgerton is obsessed with her kids finding love matches and prioritizing passion over practicality whereas lady featherington prioritizes practicality over passion. she’s also rlly bad at communicating with her daughters while violet is the kind of parent who always TRIES at least to speak to her kids.
The only thing i miss this season is more "just talking" scenes. I wanted more scenes of Pen and Colin speaking of tales of their past or about their interest in literature. Really, if you remember, past seasons have more of that, here looks like their relacionship is more drama than friendship.
They should have given us a glimpse into the letters they had been writing to eachother for years. And especially the ones Colin kept writing to Pen on his most recent tour that she was not responding to. And they definitely should've had them address what he said about her to the fife squad guys in a real way. There should've been more conversations and a lead up to the carriage scene /engagement / mirror scene to show the audience how they have really been affected by eachother over time that led them there. This whole season should've been Polin-focused and it just wasn't. I love them forever though. 💙
listen, i get Eloise's anger, but i just hate that trope of "my best friend had feelings for my brother and didn't tell me and now i hate them" its like THIS 👏🏽IS 👏🏽NOT👏🏽ABOUT 👏🏽YOU👏🏽THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU ELOISE😭
I love Eloise but if she actually listens to people, she would have realized Pen's feelings. She realized Pen was Whistledown when she stopped talking and started to listen
@@VeroVelMarGirl she does not realise her feelings. She can't put her feelings for Theo in words, Cause I think she doesn't understand those feelings. So I get how she would not know Pen's feeling.
To be fair at that point Eloise was also worried about the Whistledown secret so the engagement felt very dangerous. She worded it badly but you can see how stressful she found the secret to be added to the engagement
Anthony became so different in S3 compared to his character in S1. He was such a stick in the mud before but now he has this big personality. And I love to see it 😂 a bit of a bittersweet that he and Kate keep leaving but at least they're here. Can't say the same with Simon and Daphne hehe
And it's interesting that Violet said in season 2 that Anthony was like that before Edmund died - "always with a kind word and a joke". He's himself again...
First off I want to give a big round of applause to Nicola for being comfortable enough to bare her beauty body on screen to spite the haters! And also luke for showing his cute butt lol! I absolutely love the scene where Colin gives Portia a talking to because she never values her children correctly. Colin is not a lord, but he is still a rich boy! And more importantly loves Penelope with all his heart. I will say this is the one episode where I was anti Eloise. I know she has a point, but Penelope rarely gets a win. Let her have her win!
In the book, the carriage scene happens right after Collin finds out shes lady Whistledown. I think that makes what proceeds it more lovely because there isn't this looming secret to stress me out.
@@PinkPopcast it is. The carriage ride is actually them returning from where Pen delivers her goods. Collin follows her there, intercepts the papers, and she's busted. It's kinda cute too cuz she's so flabbergasted about it all, and Collin is finally connecting the dots lol.
@@zellalaing5439 right. And it didn't ruin the drama because (if I'm remembering correctly) no one else knew the truth by that point so there was still the possibility of being found out.
As much as I liked this season, I do wish they would have stuck with that because it was refreshing how there were no secrets in their relationship. But I do like that SPOILER The public reveal is more about Penn and she tells Colin that she doesn't need him to rescue her and she just needs him to love her. That was a brilliant change from the book where he's protective of her, which is so over done.
I rewatched the S1 and S2 Colin and Penelope scenes and let me tell you, they did show their friendship. They talk about love, about dreams, Colin talks to her about his frustrations, they talk about her wanting her freedom, they discuss about his travels and he tells her in S1 and S2 how she inspires him, they exchange letters, he always paid attention to her and tried to protect her. And that's a friendship between a woman and a man from the 1800s. It was there. Plus, the actor clearly had scenes gazing at her differently, intentionally in S1 and S2. Messing up his singing once she goes into the room ( he confirmed after ppl asked). I think People didn't really pay attention and also didn't pay attention to Colin's clear frustration with lack of purpose and insecurity . I'm loving S3.
We did pay attention but they needed to re-establish the stakes for THIS season and BUILD upon those breadcrumbs from previous seasons. I promise you, we’re not just complaining in bad faith. Trust that when we say “it’s not working” or “we don’t buy it” we’re not just actively ignoring something. Despite the actor’s chemistry with one another, this season’s Showrunner opted to TELL more rather than SHOW them falling in love. So many scenes of Colin explaining blah blah blah instead of actively making choices to engage us. This might work for book readers used to connecting dots through words, but as TV VIEWERS comparing this to the storytelling of previous seasons: it’s not NEARLY as engaging.
@@PinkPopcast Just to clarify, I didn't mean you guys, I think your reactions are great. But I actually feel that they show us a lot more than they tell this season, in gestures, expressions, motivations, the costumes, the hairstyles, so many things.
@@PinkPopcast Her stuff is fucking gorgeous, istg, being subscribed to both of you guys makes seeing @PricklyAlpaca in the wild the most pleasant jump scare ever, lol
Your critique about the first half were SO VALID. Don't let anyone else tell you differently. I had read the books and even then I thought not enough was shown in the first half.
A reminder to us that Eloise never paid attention to Penelope and lived in her own world lol since she didn't see the most OBVIOUS THING that other people who spent less time with her still figured out faster (Marina, Debling). I personally was really exhausted with Kate and Anthony's drama by the end of last season so I liked the slow burn of this season. I like that the conflict is less about whether they'll be together and more about the Whistledown stuff that's been building for several seasons. I think you'll like the next few episodes a lot! Always love watching you two, especially when one or both of you starts singing!
Just got to the end of your reaction and I hope this comment doesn’t come across as aggressive, just wanted to say that the reason we didn’t see Colin court Penelope is that he didn’t really have to. In regency England, men and women really only interacted for the first time at balls, and if someone interested you, you’d call on them the next day and court them with chaperoned dates. In this case, Colin and Penelope have known each other so long, he doesn’t need to court her to get to know her, he already knows her more than most men would’ve known their prospective brides. He courted Marina because he’d just met her. It’s sort of the same with Anthony, he courted Edwina but when he became involved with Kate, he didn’t need to court her because he’d gotten to know her when he was courting her sister. Though I do agree, I wish we’d gotten flashbacks to young Penelope and Colin.
@@PinkPopcastI get that, everyone has their own preferences. I think I’ve discovered that I don’t actually enjoy most of the Bridgerton drama so I really liked this season. For the most part it felt like a warm hug.
I totally agree with what you're saying and indeed, had that thought as well, but I do think they could've *shot* the scenes of them to convey "they're not courting but they're totally courting." For example, one really easy fix was to hold the camera on Colin's face longer when Pen had her glow-up reveal. Or when they joke about that one guy's horse, maybe a zoom in on both their faces/eyes so we can see the sparkle. Or even in carriage with Eloise on the way to the ball, have the shot be of Colin's bandaged hand with his other one tracing it before hiding it away when El speaks. None of these suggestions involve adding scenes & even adding more time, but I think it would communicate more clearly that the affection & chemistry IS right there.
Penelope and Colin's story is as much about learning to love themselves fully, as it is about loving each other. The major theme of this season is struggling with one's own identity: we see this with Penelope/Lady Whistledown, but also with Colin, especially in part 1. The conflict in seasons 1 and 2 was external, Daphne & Simon and Kate & Anthony already knew themselves. Colin, though, struggled lot in part 1 with accepting himself, with balancing society's expectations with who he really is. I think it's something so many of us go through, especially when we we're young, and Penelope & Colin are still young. The story this season is about how it's so important to accept and love yourself, before you can love someone else truthfully. This is honestly more realistic and relatable than the previous seasons, which is one of the reasons season 3 is my favorite.
Glad you’ve been enjoying it, but as viewers who grew attached because of season 1 and 2’s style of storytelling, we were a little disappointed with season 3’s internal depiction of their love. Love the fact that they’re healthy (yay!) but it didn’t come across as passionate
@@PinkPopcast I understand. But to me, one of coolest aspects of the series is how they show us different types of love. Love between family members, and between friends. But also romantic love, how different Penelope and Colin's love is from the other couples, like you said. I guess it comes down to preference, it's different for everyone.
@@PinkPopcast You know, animosity mixed with lust and not much respect for the other person does hit differently. I'm not saying Daphne & Simon and Kate & Anthony don't love each other, but much of their on-screen interactions in S1 and S2 are exactly like that. Take Anthony's line: "You're the bane of my existence, and the object of all my desires." Iconic, for sure, but what he's actually saying is: "I really want you, but I don't like you, I see you as a problem, and I'd rather marry your sister than admit my feelings." Honestly, that sounds more like lust than passion. Penelope & Colin are friends, they already like and respect each other, and they also want each other. In less than 24 hours, Colin thoroughly compromises Penelope, proposes, immediately tells his family, defends her from Portia, and takes her to the place that will be their home, which he had already arranged for. Then they have sex, because they really want to, not despite themselves, not fighting their own feelings. And there's consent, which is really sexy, and vulnerability, and joy. The showrunner said that this is when when Penelope gets pregnant. What I'm saying is, Penelope & Colin's relationship being based on respect and consent doesn't make it less passionate. But I guess that's a matter of perspective.
I can tell women wrote the sex scenes because the woman's pleasure is front and center. I think that's why women respond so positively to it.😊@@karouakiva592
I think Shonda forgot that Asian and Latin people exist. She should take notes from the Brandy Cinderella. 😊 Since the books aren't being followed to a T, let's invite different looking people into the cast!
Yes. South Asian. And before this season, there wasn’t really a pattern. But now, thanks to season three, all the Bridgerton WOMEN seem to only have ONE type.
'Friends to lovers' is so well done in Emma. 100% agreed that the two of them needed a bit more. I am a big fan of the 'friends to lovers' trope in general. I feel that if they had an additional episode of more longing from Colin or something, before we went into Part 2. I really enjoy watching John and Francesca, though the last episode kind of retconned a lot of the progress in what Francesca was fighting for in the next few episodes, but that is a comment for another time. Fun fact that I learned recently- the actress who plays Lady Featherington (Polly Walker) played Jane Fairfax in the 1996 Gwyneth Paltrow 'Emma', so that reference works on so many levels!
@@PinkPopcast I enjoyed the BBC miniseries from 2009 with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller, mostly because it was so nicely paced and let all the relationships marinate longer and have more depth. Of the movie versions, the Anya Taylor-Joy 2020 one
to be fair, y’all made completely valid points with regards to the pacing and setup of their storyline. i felt the same while watching s3. y’all are hilarious and i look forward to your reactions! 💕always a great time at the pink popcast 👏🏼
1:15 "How did everyone else get there, though?" Francesca asked to leave the ball early so she could play that music John got for her, which is how Fran, Mama B, and El got home first and why they're all still up and fully dressed (except for Hyacinth and Gregory) lol
The sex scene is definitely something....oofff...🥵 It felt real and intimate but I was uncomfortable because it felt so real like I was intruding on something. Also I don't know if anyone has already commented this but Nicole Coughlan and Luke Newton actually broke the couch during one of the takes of the sex scene. They said they were really getting into the scene and all of a sudden one of the legs broke.
@@PinkPopcast I read that their seggs scene is the longest of the show at 6 minutes, but the pacing, tone, and positioning of it felt off to me. I guess I must have been a director & intimacy coordinator in another life, because I have a whole storyboard in my head of how it could have been blocked better, shot better, more about character/story than voyeurism. Idk, maybe that's just me
I loved that they chose the song POV by Ariana because it fit the scene perfectly and I love/hate how intimate that scene was. Also Benji the way you instantly figured out how to play the game was so impressive. I’m glad both of y’all picking up on the fact that Eloise is still in her own world. She didn’t know that Penelope was in love with Colin even though it’s so obvious, she doesn’t listen to Cressida who clearly needs to help to escape her family, or she saw that Pen was having a panic attack but still chose to try to tell Colin about her being Lady Whistledown
"I was about to check my phone to see what time it was for the show" - I do this ALL THE TIME when there is some kind of ticking clock countdown/deadline.
I loved their intimate scene, by far my favorite in the. Bridgerton world, I loved how sweet and gentle he was, and the that he took the time to explain, I was like “yeah Colin, get it!”
Totally agree, we needed to see more. Colin's arc is very incomplete. This episode was the only good one in terms of love story of the entire season. How he defends her in front of her mother, the scene in the mirror and at the end when he asks her if you don't feel the same way about me...was very very sweet.
EXACTLY!! Where are all the flashback scenes of them (Colin & Pen) AS KIDS?!?! If this is truly a love story between CHILDHOOD--emphasis on "CHILD" here-- friends-to-lovers, WHERE'S ALL THE SCENES OF THEM AS KIDS?!?! I HOPE Netflix, a.k.a. the new show runner, listen to US when we say, "WE MISS ALL THOSE FLASHBACK SCENES"!! 😒
I think they probably left them out because he's five years older than her. So when he was 14, she would have been 9. When he was 16, she was 11. The fact they started out as friends is great, I just don't think in this case it would've added much to the romance to show them at those ages, but yeah, I could be wrong 🤷
@@sorchamiana Wow! 😮 i didn’t know that he is supposed to be 5 years older than her! In the show, they look to be around the same age!! Couldn’t they be around the same age in the show since it’s clearly different than the book?!
@@AHufflepuffAndASwiftie I've never read the books. All I did was Google "How old is Colin Bridgertons in Season 3?" followed by "How old is Penelope Featherington in Season 3?" The answers that came up were 24 and 19. 😊🤷
I agree with everything you guys said. basically their romance is lovely on paper but it just didn't translate well on screen so even though it ended up like a cute sweet thing to watch i personally didn't Feel much out of it i honestly felt more in the eloise penelope dynamic 😂😂
17:01 this reminds me of the piece of decorative fabric that the richies in Downton Abbey pull on when they wanna ring for the servants downstairs, and it doesn't make a sound on their end but is linked to a bell that rings loudly downstairs (and every bell in different rooms is labelled so the servants know which part of the mansion to go to). I now *absolutely need* y'all to take on the behemoth of a six (?) season/6 Christmas special/2 movie franchise that is Downton Abbey. You'll love it so much, you guys 🥺🥺🥺
I adore Rizzo's gasp at 18:52 hearing only "one ball a month" 😂 also dropping this banger of a line: "at first it was inclusive, now it feels... targeted" lmfao
You guys hit it on the nose! I never got that feeling that these two were in love, like I instantly did with the first 2 seasons (especially in 2nd season). It should have been even clearer since they had 2 seasons of lead up. I have seen lots of friends to lovers that was able to do this well! LOVED Anthony and Kate in this episode though, him kissing her stomach and being so obsessed with his wife was amazing!! 😍😍
I love part 2 of this season. Man, Eloise went from one of my fave characters in season 1, to less like able in season2 , to a character I don’t particularly like anymore in season 3. She’s best friends with Pen for so many years and couldn’t pick up the mooning she constantly does whenever Colin is nearby? It also felt like she wanted Pen to tell Colin about being Mrs. Whistledown based on whether whether the consequences to her would be good or bad. That rubbed me wrong. And I hate how she let her friendship with Cressida deteriorate like that. Before their friendship deteriorated, I was like damn, Eloise and Cressida would be interesting together. Imma look for some fanfic on them. Fingers crossed it exists.
@@PinkPopcast I feel like Eloise was sacrificed for Penelope's character. Whatever they needed Eloise to be to drive Pen they did it. They needed Whistledown conflict for Pen in s2 so they wrote Eloise the way it would drive the sl forward. They needed Eloise to find out who Whistledown is right in the s2 finale to again drive Pen's character so they did just that. It gave Pen conflict for s3. They needed to drive the s3 Whistledown plot so they let Eloise pressure Pen. They want to give Pen her HEA at the end of s3 so they let Eloise drop Cressida and be friends with Pen again without them ever working their way up to it. It felt like it was all to serve Pen. Same for Colin. If Pen needed angst and conflict, Colin was written that way, she needed her Happy End, Colin was written to give her that. Very weird writing this season imo.
I absolutely agree with what you guys said about being viewers of a tv show and you shouldn't have to read the books to get context for things. Expecting people to know stuff from an eight-book series (plus several novellas, and prequels, and extended epilogues... Julia Quinn knows how to monetize) to fully understand a self-contained TV series is SILLY. It's not even like an "extended universe" thing like all the Star Wars novels were, this is a fully alternate universe from the books at this point! You guys are completely valid for not feeling the chemistry between Colin and Pen before now. I've read every Bridgerton Thing there is so far, and I didn't feel it either. Genuinely I didn't fully buy it until they were going at it on that lounge chair...
Every time the scene cuts to Eloise I wanna scream out "OMG Eloise! Stop sulking! Get over it!" LOL Also, the bad bitch in GREEN! Y'all missed it 😅 (the scene with danbury and the queen)
6:53 as soon as colin said that when I watched this I thought Benji is going to like that line also having seen the whole season I will say that the problem with this season is they focused too much on other characters rather than the main couple. Apparently they cut a lot of scenes between pne and colin.
The bit with Benji needing a verbal "I love you" and "yes" from collin reminds me of that skit from "Black Lady Sketch show" where an air hostess needs a verbal "yes" from a passenger and he says everything BUT that lmao Sketch is called "Exit Row" incase anyone wants to see it!
Someone should make a list of foods they eat in the episodes so you can eat with them. For real you mentioned lemonade and i got up to pour myself a glass
Yeah they still need to re-establish their love. Someone commented it expertly: “The new showrunners saw the puzzle pieces were there but acted like the puzzle was already put together” 👏🏽
Really Pen didn't change herself she only changed the clothes her mother put her in, the colour of her outfits and her hairstyle she chose because she would have chosen them to begin with.
friends to lovers is a different kind of love, but i've seen so many people say about the book "colin was OBSESSED with pen after the engagement, he was FERAL for her" and i really wish they'd had that come across in the show. the whole, "she fell first, but he fell harder" trope. i feel like there were a lot more moving parts this season versus past ones (cressida, lady danbury's brother, sprinkles of kathony, sprinkles of the queen, penelope's sisters, the mondrich family, francesca, benedict all add up to a lot of screentime that is away from pen/colin). that isn't a complaint because i love those other characters, just that i feel like the past two relationships had a little more air time or focus, if that makes sense? i wish this season had been two episodes longer and then i feel like everything would have been perfect. as always thank you both for your honest reaction and the wonderful entertainment! 😄
Rizzo, I liked your comments regarding not needing to read the books to appreciate the show! I am an English teacher who doesn't believe that a book is ALWAYS better than a show. In the case of the Bridgerton stories, I can say emphatically that, for me, the show is better than the books. For instance, the relationships among all the Bridgertons are more fleshed out (no pun intended!) in the show. 8n general, regardless of which medium is better (book or movie), each entity deserves to be enjoyed on its own!
I truly wish they included the furniture breaking into the actual show. It would be the massive cherry on top for their first time. Love you guys and your channel! ❤️❤️❤️
Honestly, theirs is my favorite couple in the show. I love the chemistry between them and their relationship seems way less forced and more realistic to me.
@@PinkPopcast yes, taste is different for each person. It's more interesting to me but it doesn't have to be to everyone. It's good to have different views. Something to everyone. :)
I've realized I enjoy Bridgerton much more when it is filtered through this kind of comedy-commentary reaction video. I stopped watching after season , but I absolutely cackled through Trixie and Katya's reaction to season 2, and now I'm watching season 3 through y'all. I'll probably go back and watch your reaction to season 2. These reactions just really hit the spot.
As I recall, Francesca asked to leave the ball early because homeboy gave her sheet music. and Gregory and Hyacinth (I believe) would've been home.. So that's how a certain group of the Bridgertons were already home when Colin and P came in the crib..
There were some ppl who were loud about not liking the sex scene and I was sooooo nervous cuz I'm rooting for Polin and then.....hoooooo boooooy! I COULDN'T BREATHE! OMG it was so sexy and **intimate** Yalls reaction was so FUNNY! Is it weird that yall looked intimidated to me, compared to previous scenes? I could be way off tho, lol I loved it because it felt so much more grounded and thus REAL. I really could go on about how that aspect makes it amazing, but more than anything, story-wise, I think it truly reflected their personalities & dynamic as a couple: Colin was constantly checking in on her (I do believe he asked for consent 3x), saying he'll do everything but Pen actively wants to participate & takes initiative like when she grabbed him. Even the slight awkwardness & funny cute moments show they are comfortable with each other instead of trying to play it cool or whatever. And I think the way they took off their clothes is really symbolic for their arcs - Pen got her glow-up & Colin was putting up this swagger front but once they're finally together, it all goes away. UH-MAZING job by Luke & Nicola
@@PinkPopcast oh, and EVERY SINGLE straight guy that watches this scene, without fail, points to the screen when Colin says to give him 5-10 mins, conveying some form of "that's real." its just so funny to me and further proves my point that they were really shooting for a realistic intimate scene :D
Great review as always guys! Love the singing, love the banter! And yes in all of the explanations, I was waiting for him to simply say... "I love you"! It aint real without that! Lol!❤😅
16:00 Benji with the knock!!! Haha. There were quite a few overly predictable moments and many missed opportunities in Season 3 (especially for insight into to Colin's character. #justiceforcolin) but still a fun watch. As always, enjoy your reactions! You two are a joy! ❤
Gotta say, I'm tearing over Penelope's scenes. Showing her in full, showing her BEING loved, being appreciated as she is and seen as beautiful is so nice for women/people who look like her. I'm not a huge fan of nudity in movies/tv but I'm grateful for this. She's beautiful and deserves love, character and actress alike
Benji I and 110% with you about the friends to lovers things. Colin didn’t notice Pen for years and then suddenly he doesn’t and he needs her RIGHT AWAY and with no exceptions. It’s like, come on, put some effort in here haha
Your feelings about their courtship are so spot on. The show had two prior seasons to build up P&C’s relationship, and it still felt meh to me. Blame 100% is on the writers for not showing us.
FYI I. The first half of the season GREGORY was teased by Benedict about climbing to see the hot air balloon. He asked him “did you even get to see the balloon?” And Gregory answer “ Noooo but”.
Rizzo it's me again! 😅 From the moment I watched the interaction between Pen and Colin in season one I knew they were going to end up together and I hadn't read the books (I didnt even know it was based on books back then), I just knew, I feel like at this point you would send the regina George meme to me, the one that says "why are you so obsessed with me" lol I'm happy to see you enjoyed this episode 🎉
All the Eloise/Penelope "fights" did feel *very* "baby sapphic's "best friend" gets a boyfriend and she's mad and can't explain why when her family asks why they've fallen out" 😂 I know it's about Whistledown and lying etc, but it FELT very familiar!!!
Hahaha that’s so true (from my limited time as a baby sapphic) jk but I’ve been thoroughly informed on this aspect of life as a queer woman and I fully believe the new Showrunner leaned into this
yes I'm not the only one who reads Eloise as falling under queerdome! the way she acted around Penn- and how she attached herself to her and now Cressida in a specific way comes off queer- even if it was unintentional! it would explain the clingingness more as well as how visceral she reacted not just to finding out that Penn was whistledown but jaw she reacted to hearing about the engagement

Despite all yall who hate this season, I genuinely enjoyed this season way more than the others. I’ve rewatched it many times and still find myself crying every time ❤
Aww we’ve been enjoying it still! People think cause we criticize certain aspects that we “hate” it cause so many reactors have black and white perspectives but we still thoroughly enjoy ourselves when watching shows! This one is no exception. Hopefully you enjoyed our reaction 😊
@@PinkPopcast I wasn’t really referring to you guys. My favorite thing about this channel is your dynamic, the way you guys interact, it’s the most entertaining thing. Even if you guys don’t love something the way I do, I still enjoy watching. You guys are fucking funny :)
Omg YES! So much better than the balloon 🎈
ive been yelling it!!! like i want them meetig for the first time. or just clips of baby pen with her sisters making fun of her and her parents strained relationship, maybe baby colin feeling different than his brothers or something. i really enjoyed the flashback episodes in previous season gave us more context on who they are in general!
There’s so much that could have been added to properly draw out the season and make it as enjoyable as the first two seasons
I wanted this flashback the moment I knew that Polin was going to be this season. Still feel cheated about it.
Nicola said there was not time for or story wise with the other storylines. She wanted to see it too
The recent Bridgerton controversy is how I learned that there are people who don’t think Nicola Coughlan is gorgeous, which is fundamentally baffling to me.

“How about they just share a shell?” Exactly! Introversion is OK. Not being able to charm people and make friends easily is OK.
Yes🙌🙌
Colin doubting Pens feelings during their engagement party makes you realize, he’s just as insecure about pen loving him as pen is about him loving her.
😳🥺
Also a reflection of his insecurity after he thought Marina loved him but just needed someone get her out of her situation, and then to have her reject even his apology in season 2. Not that i blame her, but it definitely put doubt in his mind that he could be loved too! @PinkPopcast
Well, Colin did say he would never court Penelope Featherington, and he is a man of his word.
😅😅
rizzo's permanent thirst for lemonade entertains me so much lol
😂 that’s the real relationship this season!
I just want to bring him lemonade and cinnamon buns
Friends to lovers is a popular trope on it's own. I feel like we didn't get to sit with Colin & Pen's interactions as much. Any flashbacks to their childhood would have been nice too.
Right!? They did that LAST season with Anthony and Edmund so there’s a precedent for establishing past relationships. Alas
ik, i wish we had a flashback of them meeting for the first time, and Nicola and Luke actually said that they would have liked that, but there is so much going on that they didnt have the time (which i think is a bullsh*t excuse Netflix but okay😭)
It feels that way because it's true! Someone posted on Fable the actual screen time for each lead couple, and Polin had less than all the others across all seasons combined, including their own. I was so excited for them, but I just felt the quality as well as the quantity were lacking this season.
That's actually not true. Kanthony has less@@em8066

Aww that one was cute

Oof yea I didn’t even think of how many side adventures there actually were in this season lol
"Penelope's the queen of almost telling people things" 😆 lol that's so true
Always a door knock away from silence
I wonder if that’s why she started writing as Whistledown in the first place
I think Portia loves her daughters, but she's very much a realist and a woman of her time. She prioritises finding suitable matches for her daughters because she understands that for most women of the ton, that's the only way to guarantee a somewhat happy life.
She's sort of the antithesis to Violet because the idea of a true love match is foreign to her, but I do believe that she's happy Pen was able to find what neither her nor her other daughters were able to.
absolutely, she’s not evil she’s just not idealistic
Phillipa definitely found a love match. The cheese couple is unproblematic true love.
What you said about Portia being the antithesis or counterpart to Violet is genius! It hadn't occurred to be before! Since the beginning of the series the Featheringtons & Bridgertons were precisely supposed to be the opposites of each other and I applaud the creators for making them opposites in ways that go deeper than outward characteristics & behaviors :)
I REALLY enjoyed Pen's arc with her mom. It was very unexpected but done so well!
no literallyy. lady bridgerton is obsessed with her kids finding love matches and prioritizing passion over practicality whereas lady featherington prioritizes practicality over passion. she’s also rlly bad at communicating with her daughters while violet is the kind of parent who always TRIES at least to speak to her kids.
yes I love this but phillipa + mr finch are absolutely a love matchh

He loves to scream passionately
The only thing i miss this season is more "just talking" scenes. I wanted more scenes of Pen and Colin speaking of tales of their past or about their interest in literature. Really, if you remember, past seasons have more of that, here looks like their relacionship is more drama than friendship.
YESSS Omg there’s so much you can get from that much history and they breezed past it all
Yes!!! That’s what I’ve been saying!! And also we had so little gazes between them, which I think diminished Nicola’s and Luke’s chemistry 🥲
Anthony's eyes and ears this season are only for Kate 😂😂 no one could tell ahahahhah
He don’t care about NO ONE else
They should have given us a glimpse into the letters they had been writing to eachother for years. And especially the ones Colin kept writing to Pen on his most recent tour that she was not responding to. And they definitely should've had them address what he said about her to the fife squad guys in a real way. There should've been more conversations and a lead up to the carriage scene /engagement / mirror scene to show the audience how they have really been affected by eachother over time that led them there. This whole season should've been Polin-focused and it just wasn't. I love them forever though. 💙
Yeah I kept thinking how well they RE-established Anthony in season two and how they could have RE-established “Polin” for season three

THANK YOU! I've been saying this, it's lack of attention.
Exactly. I would say I'm surprised by how much people ignore/overlook, but I'm actually not. It's to be expected, unfortunately.
This is why Colin standing up to Portia works so well because it SHOWS him actively loving her!
@@PinkPopcast Just to clarify, I didn't mean you guys, I think your reactions are great. But I actually feel that they show us a lot more than they tell this season, in gestures, expressions, motivations, the costumes, the hairstyles, so many things.

Benji will always sing first 😅
Just got to the end of your reaction and I hope this comment doesn’t come across as aggressive, just wanted to say that the reason we didn’t see Colin court Penelope is that he didn’t really have to.
Though I do agree, I wish we’d gotten flashbacks to young Penelope and Colin.
like… I get that technically… but as a viewer… BOOOOOOORING! 😂
@@PinkPopcastI get that, everyone has their own preferences. I think I’ve discovered that I don’t actually enjoy most of the Bridgerton drama so I really liked this season. For the most part it felt like a warm hug.
@crystalpritchard5065 aww well that’s good 🥹
@@crystalpritchard5065 I feel the same as you do. The sweetness of the pair felt like a warm hug. :)
@@PinkPopcastI thought it was unbelievably passionate

Yeah Eloise only really cares for herself unfortunately 😬
"i did 'ask are you sure' and you didn't answer.. didn't hear a yes" NO CAUSE THIS IS ME IN A RELATIONSHIP UNFORTUNATELY
It’s valid!!!
Colin did nod to that question.
Benji’s Derry Girl call-out during Sterling’s muddy boots story - perfect.
😂😂
Thank you so much for validating our opinions 🥹
Every time the scene cuts to Eloise I wanna scream out "OMG Eloise! Stop sulking! Get over it!" LOL
Also, the bad bitch in GREEN! Y'all missed it 😅 (the scene with danbury and the queen)
NOOOO how could we miss it!? It was three feet in front of us!?
This! I’m sick of her.
@@PinkPopcast I cant tell if that was sarcastic or genuine lol
Lol genuine. We definitely missed calling her the bad bitch and Green.
According to the books Hyacinth was closest to Lady Danbury bc she was more like her than anyone.
Awwe
Would’ve thought that pot of gold would’ve given it away but wetter as in rain and bow as in girl’s hair is genius I love that
Yep I finally got it!
6:53 as soon as colin said that when I watched this I thought Benji is going to like that line
also having seen the whole season I will say that the problem with this season is they focused too much on other characters rather than the main couple. Apparently they cut a lot of scenes between pne and colin.
You know us too well
The bit with Benji needing a verbal "I love you" and "yes" from collin reminds me of that skit from "Black Lady Sketch show" where an air hostess needs a verbal "yes" from a passenger and he says everything BUT that lmao
Sketch is called "Exit Row" incase anyone wants to see it!
😂😂😂 yes!!
Oh my god I’ll look it up! Love the sketches I’ve seen from that show!
Someone should make a list of foods they eat in the episodes so you can eat with them. For real you mentioned lemonade and i got up to pour myself a glass
GODDAMN! That’s a great idea! 🍋
I absolutely loved how Colin got consent for every action he wanted to do with Penn.
Honestly, it's my favorite season so far. You just have to remember it started, for them, in Season 1.
Colin hates the color yellow apparently hahaha
@@PinkPopcast 🤣🤣🤣
friends to lovers is a different kind of love, but i've seen so many people say about the book "colin was OBSESSED with pen after the engagement, he was FERAL for her" and i really wish they'd had that come across in the show. the whole, "she fell first, but he fell harder" trope. i feel like there were a lot more moving parts this season versus past ones (cressida, lady danbury's brother, sprinkles of kathony, sprinkles of the queen, penelope's sisters, the mondrich family, francesca, benedict all add up to a lot of screentime that is away from pen/colin). that isn't a complaint because i love those other characters, just that i feel like the past two relationships had a little more air time or focus, if that makes sense? i wish this season had been two episodes longer and then i feel like everything would have been perfect. as always thank you both for your honest reaction and the wonderful entertainment! 😄
Ooh I wish I would’ve seen him “fall harder” in the first half… he’s coming around in pt but it’s turbulent lol
I always thought Kate's comment to Eloise about "the truth" was a call back to her and her sister's messy story
Oooh right
I truly wish they included the furniture breaking into the actual show. It would be the massive cherry on top for their first time. Love you guys and your channel! ❤️❤️❤️
Been waiting for this all day.
👏👏👏
Honestly, theirs is my favorite couple in the show. I love the chemistry between them and their relationship seems way less forced and more realistic to me.
Realistic? Yes. Interesting… to us? Not as much. But lord yes, it’s much healthier than Daphne and Simone! 😬
@@PinkPopcast yes, taste is different for each person. It's more interesting to me but it doesn't have to be to everyone. It's good to have different views. Something to everyone. :)
Love the Derry Girls reference
Hahaha it felt appropriate 😂
I've realized I enjoy Bridgerton much more when it is filtered through this kind of comedy-commentary reaction video. I stopped watching after season , but I absolutely cackled through Trixie and Katya's reaction to season 2, and now I'm watching season 3 through y'all. I'll probably go back and watch your reaction to season 2. These reactions just really hit the spot.
Love watching y’all make each other laugh! Thank you for knowing all the songs too. I am continually guessing wrong, lol
We do our best!
@@PinkPopcast I appreciate you both❤
I can't wait until the next episode!
@@thatgirlinokc3975yes. These guys are so awesome. So talented!
As I recall, Francesca asked to leave the ball early because homeboy gave her sheet music. and Gregory and Hyacinth (I believe) would've been home.. So that's how a certain group of the Bridgertons were already home when Colin and P came in the crib..
Thank you so much!
I could be way off tho, lol
I loved it because it felt so much more grounded and thus REAL.
I felt like a fly on the wall
@@PinkPopcast oh, and EVERY SINGLE straight guy that watches this scene, without fail, points to the screen when Colin says to give him 5-10 mins, conveying some form of "that's real." its just so funny to me and further proves my point that they were really shooting for a realistic intimate scene :D
They said in ep. 3 that Gregory injured his arm trying to get a good look at the hot air balloon.
Fail lol
Great review as always guys! Love the singing, love the banter! And yes in all of the explanations, I was waiting for him to simply say... "I love you"! It aint real without that! Lol!❤😅
Colin saying “lie down” 🫠
16:00 Benji with the knock!!! Haha.
There were quite a few overly predictable moments and many missed opportunities in Season 3 (especially for insight into to Colin's character. #justiceforcolin) but still a fun watch.
As always, enjoy your reactions! You two are a joy! ❤
Exactly!! Lmao thank you!❤️
Benji has know every song this season 😂 period
She’s a talented queen 👸🏾
He loves to sing can't stop him!
Absolutely 👏👏❤️❤️
6.21pm here in the UK and i have been WAITING (not so patiently) for this!! Eeeeeeek can’t wait to watch with my faves! 🌸💖
Yay! Let us know your favorite part
10:37 Benji’s facial expressions during this scene 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Benji I and 110% with you about the friends to lovers things. Colin didn’t notice Pen for years and then suddenly he doesn’t and he needs her RIGHT AWAY and with no exceptions. It’s like, come on, put some effort in here haha
Your feelings about their courtship are so spot on. The show had two prior seasons to build up P&C’s relationship, and it still felt meh to me. Blame 100% is on the writers for not showing us.
Right!
20:31 All the Bridgerton be like "What a beautiful chocolate man" 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
FYI I. The first half of the season GREGORY was teased by Benedict about climbing to see the hot air balloon. He asked him “did you even get to see the balloon?” And Gregory answer “ Noooo but”.
Is THAT why his arm is broken!? 😂
@@PinkPopcast yesum it sure is!
Nice observation 👀
All the Eloise/Penelope "fights" did feel *very* "baby sapphic's "best friend" gets a boyfriend and she's mad and can't explain why when her family asks why they've fallen out" 😂
I know it's about Whistledown and lying etc, but it FELT very familiar!!!
Omg that’s so true!
@@rubysmolen5155since season 1!!! We've had our two queer Brigerton siblings! And now with the end of this season, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Eloise🤞🤞
@@beckmannm Benedict’s bisexuality/bicurious was more outwardly obvious than Eloise’s queerness but both were there! Kind of like how it was obvious ( atleast to me) that Colin was obliviously in love with pen since season 1- but Luke depicted it more subtler then nicola did so it could be harder to catch but it was always there💕💜
arms--- i mean, I'M So happy to see y'all finally start the second half of the season! i have a feeling you will have a lot to say about the future episodes as well.
Oh we do!!
And I teared up multiple times during Danbury’s scenes
@@PinkPopcast I wasn’t really referring to you guys. My favorite thing about this channel is your dynamic, the way you guys interact, it’s the most entertaining thing. Even if you guys don’t love something the way I do, I still enjoy watching. You guys are fucking funny :)
10:27 alright that’s enough u need to drop an album of all the pop songs covered this season
Benji’s mixtape coming soon 💿
