Routing Toontrack's EZDrummer 3 in Reaper
Вставка

- In this video we route the individual channels from EZDrummer 3's (Toontrack) Mixer Tab into the Reaper's channels. This will give us more control when mixing with EZdrummer 3.

Well done Shootie! I'll be getting the plug-in this weekend.
Awesome. Welcome to EZD3!
Your advices are always brilliant my friend, many thanks for the shared knowledge !
My pleasure!
WHOA!! I avoid the multitrack routing when I have an idea I want to get down quickly and I had NO IDEA that it isn’t a one-way door. I have always added a new instance of EZDrummer with the multitrack option then deleted the stereo track when I want to have the expanded options later. This is *another* game changer, Shawn! Haha. Yer a wizard.
Awesome!
Me too. not anymore! Wooo!
Very good. I do it differently. I mix and finalize the drums in EZDrummer 3 and then export this as an audio file to my Reaper project. Here is an album done this way. All streaming services - Afro Jazz Fusion album by Thomas Shea.
Thanks! I did not know how to go back and make it multitrack after telling it NO on the initial popup. I also did not know about the auto multichannel routing, I had been routing things manually. Manual routing is nice, but there's definitely some times where the auto routing would be just fine and save some time. Also just want to say, after having watched a bunch of your videos that the way you teach/demonstrate is very easy to follow.
Thanks for taking the time to say!
hell yeah dude. Appreciate it
You got it!
As a frequent Reaper user myself, this is great info. Thanks as always, Shawn.
Thank you, Rocky!
simply awesome!!
Thanks!
Amazing help as always! Thanks!
You got it!!
Just what I needed! Thanks!
Awesome!
This is very useful! Thanks!
Thank you for saying!
thank you bro!!!!
No problem!!
Thank you!
You got it!
Thanks, rocking dude.
You got it!
Had to make a playlist on UA-cam and called it "Essential Kick Ass Reaper" so I could separate your video from the noise on YT. Thank you for being so bad ass to record this.
I appreciate you Saying!
@@ShootieSchool So apparently when i installed Reaper and Toontrack, something went wrong. I deleted both and re set up from scratch and now the mixer option works. Absolutely great video that is right to the point and great info. Thanks for showing us a better way Yoda!
8:50 "One last trick..." Holy poop man! you fixed EZDrummer!
How do you get the multichannel meters to display vertical? Mine are all horizontal. I have been trying to change it for an hour now. Thanks
Thanks! I actually don't know. I've never seen it laid out like that before.
Beautiful explanation! Just subscribed! Do you know if there is a way to do all this but also have the midi tracks from EZdrummer/Superior Drummer show up was waveforms on the tracks?
In EZDrummer use the menu Track>Export audio. It’s the easiest way if you have no tempo changes.
Awesome video ! Question is there a video on how to export the season tracks into reaper once you separate individual in reaper ?
The easiest way would be to do the routing only in EZDrummer the way you want to separate the tracks. Then use EZDrummer's Track menu to export audio stems. If there's no tempo changes in your song I think that's best.
As for reaper, there is a stem option in the Render menu. I don't use it enough to instruct off the top of my head.
@@ShootieSchool ahh perfect 👍🏼 I’ll shall try this today. How I do it is that I drag the complete session track from the Ezdrummer 3 into reaper. Once I record guitars, vocals and keyboardist to my liking, I mix down. Thanks for the response, Prost !
love your channel and thank you for all you do, I am brand new at this and I have already screwed up my Reaper. I was experimenting with colors and hit something bad! I have lost all the channels going across the bottom. it is gone . I hope I am saying this right. It is the strip across the bottom (mixer?) I would appreciate any help. I am wanting to do drum covers and haven't even made it to adding the music yet or video..that should be fun!!!
Thanks! Menu>View>Mixer.
THANK YOU!!! That worked @@ShootieSchool
Once you have the routing would you render the midi to audio files on each track before mixing? Saves CPU and would give a consistent playback, if you have finished editing your drums.
I do sometimes. I would think most people do if they're mixing.
So after I’ve created all the routing and the bus etc, when I go to track the drums from EZ drummer3 do I arm all the drum tracks and the bus or no? Also, not sure if this matters but, my snare drum is always in the yellow no matter what and I can’t figure out why? All the rest of my other drum tracks stay in the green so I figured this may be an issue. Even when I have it turned down in the mix to where I can barely hear it, it’s still in the yellow. Makes no sense to me.Great channel by the way. Super helpful. Thanks!
Thank you! You don't have to arm anything. If you think you're peaking from the source you could turn the volume of a particular instrument down on the Drums Tab.
@@ShootieSchool oh okay, I thought I’d have to arm the drum tracks in order to record my EZdrummer track. Alright.
I have 3 acoustics and will be receiving my Yamaha DTX10 this week. All i need is ezdrummer to custom my kit? Do I need reaper or anything like that? I jusr want a larger library for different sounds and kits. Thanks for your time.
I don’t know the Yamaha model. But in general you just need to plug your ekit straight into EZDrummer. Daw is not essential.
Daw being reaper.
Will there be a similar lesson for Studio one?
Yes. Pretty soon actually.
Hi just wanna ask how you put backing track on this if i want to make some cover song
EZDrummer has many tools. It depends on what your experience is to decide which way is best.
I do have 1 question, when I do the multi track option in Ez Drummer 3, I only hear the Kick. VU are showing signal on other channels, but only kick is playing. Any help you can suggest is appreciated.
Ran. Do me a favor and start a brand new session and watch the video one more time slowly step-by-step. I think you’ll get it. If not send me a message back.
@ShootieSchool Ended up re-installing Reaper and EZD3 and now it all works. Computers huh lol!!!!! Thanks gor the great content and my dumb question.
Sounds like that needed to happen then. Now you can rock n roll!
How do I get a Maschine mk3 to control EZ drummer in reaper?? I cannot figure this out.
Do ask a native instruments community.
@ShootieSchool actually your video got me there! Thanks a ton dude. You're videos are amazing.
Thanks!
Hello, Can you tell me? On my computer is small so I can't see all information about EZbass full. Can you tell me how to change screen size of EZbass?
In EZBass go to the View Menu > Scale.
@@ShootieSchool Thank you so much I will try again.
Any idea why my EZDrummer 2 would not show up in Reaper? I've added the path for 32bit and 64bit to the VST plugin paths. I've checks VST and Developer it just isn't there. I can run EZ Drummer 2 by itself, my Reaper has not issues either because i can see other VST's i've added. I've tried clicking the rescan button also.
Did you check to see if the .dll file is in the 32 bit plugin system folder? Maybe just reinstall easy drummer two to make sure it is there.
cant find a video on routing in pro tools? maybe im overlooking it
I’ll have to make one. You make stereo auxiliary tracks and set their input from the plug-in drop down and select easy drummer and which track easy drummer is transmitting. Hop on one of my Support groups and I’ll send you a screen cap. The links are below in the description.
orget it workinng in a daw as a vst...3 daw it never showed up did everthing i could nice stand alone for live but for get it ever working in a daw
If you’re in reaper you must add the vst3 pluggin path in preferences.
ez drummer didnt even show up in reaper unlike all my other vst
EZ is a vst3. So you must add the vst3 folder path in reaper.
