It's fair to say, I've spent the last 23 years being lied to on a daily basis. Your analysis has given me the language to label what I've observed and also taught me so much more. This interview makes me curious about the differences between children, adolescent and adult body language-if at all. I wish you guys could analyze employees in HR conversations, too!

There are sharks in certain places like Boca Catalina and Colorado Point, where one can encounter a Caribbean reef shark or a hammerhead while snorkelling or swimming. Most of the beaches don't have a problem with them. He is saying Natalie thought there were sharks and wanted to see them, and seems amused. He is amused because he is playing the interveiwer. There are places around Aruba that have sharks, but he is amused that he is playing the interveiwer, and I think he is getting confident that they will believe anything he says. When I heard he confessed, I didn't believe it at first, because he is getting reduced jail time for confessing. After thinking on it for a while, and he said he bludgeoned her to death, well that is the same way he killed Stephany. The judge said that there would be no body found, regarding his confession. And here we have in the first interview, he is talking about sharks. I don't think she asked to see the sharks, I think he did take her where there were sharks, after he killed her. And that is why he is so amused, he is playing the interviewer and flirting with the facts

This guy loves to taunt her mother. I've heard Hitler's sister used as a way to describe a horrible human being , specifically a female. Him saying she said her mom was Hitler's sister was just trying to put it in her poor mom's head that maybe her daughter was upset with her before she passed away or that she was saying nasty things about her. And now she will always have to wonder. Just pure evil. That's my take on it anyway. I've seen a lot of stuff on this over the years and it's his style to do something like that for fun. The hitler’s sister comment is just him being annoyed by her mom because she was not letting go. She made it really difficult for him, biting herself into this case. She is a momma bear, a pitbull who is, understandably, wanting to go to the bottom of this. He was furious at her! He is/was used to get away with things and Natalie’s mom was not letting go. He wanted to make her mom look bad. It was way to punish her, to hurt her. On top of the horrible fact the mom lost her child. Pretty evil. It came from him, Nathalie never made that comment.

Young Natalie Holloway disappeared in Aruba on May 30th, 2005. Rumor has it that Joran Van der Sloot's dad owns half the island. Joran was in Lima, Peru, when he killed young Stephany Flores on May 30th, 2010. After the second murder he flew to Chile, where he was apprehended and extradited to Peru. He was sentenced to 20 something years and was serving his sentence when the Peruvian government allowed his "temporary extradition" (?) to the US. A serial killer in the making? Or a pro?🤔🤔

Dutch person here: 'sitting in the sand' is just the way sitting on the sand is said in Dutch. (In Dutch one would say 'sit on the sand' only if the sand is really dense and packed together so that it forms a completely flat and hard surface - for loose sand you'd use 'in'. Languages, even closely related languages like Dutch and English, vary a lot in how they conceptualize space and employ prepositions). He changes it to 'sit on the sand' because he realizes that's how it's said in English. So there's nothing in his language there, what he's saying is compatible in Dutch with a perfectly fine and healthy person sitting on the beach. (Other than that, he is a liar and a murderer, obviously).

@irisalsusername Interesting distinction. The other day I was watching the episode on Lori Vallow. I saw many comments about her speech patterns. A lot of ppl thought the way she spoke was an indicator of guilt. I was completely comfortable, if not a bit confused, with the way she spoke. It is specific to the Inland Empire in Southern California. I wondered how she came by her manner of speaking, as I thought she was from Arizona or Utah. I checked where she grew up. In fact, she grew up in the heart of the Inland Empire! She and I grew up rather near each other. I went to college in Michigan. Interestingly enough, I remember the professor from my Speech class telling me that my particular accent might tend to give ppl outside So Cal the impression that I'm being dishonest! ... Language is such a nuanced thing! The difference between "on" or "in" might make a big difference, depending on where you live. A regional cadence might instil mistrust. These things are endlessly fascinating to me. I bet a person could study such minor differences in habits of speech for their whole life, and still never scratch the surface.

Scott nails it as usual! This guy is so selfish that it was more important for him to go home to go to sleep, or whatever, then to have concern about leaving a young woman on the beach in a foreign country( to her). The reason I say this guy is a narcissist is because first everything is about him saying that she didn’t want to leave me. She didn’t want to go home because she was having a good time (with me). Then this part where he leaves her on the beach, demonstrates his complete and total selfishness. 2 strikes on the narcissism scale.

Unfortunatly this is a Dutch person but not one we're proud of. His name is pronounced like Yoran van there Slowed. I've seen lot's of footage at the time of this and also what the undercover journalist who went on a car trip with him got out of him. I don't think at that time he was a cold hearted killer. However he does know how she died and did try to hide the evidence of what happened. Think most likely scenario is that both of them used drugs and/or alcohol and something bad happened to her because of this (overdoses or an accident due to irrational and dangerous behaviour). Think after this happened he got help from probably his father who happened to be a laywer, to get rid of her body / shoes (using a boat dumping them in the ocean). And knowing what to do next (go to school the next day) and what to say and not to say to agents and in court. So don't think at that time he was a cold killer but he is hiding the truth of what happened.

Yeah I don't believe him a bit. I think he went out of his way to avoid using condoms. That seems more accurate to me. So they decided to murder her, and bring her out into the ocean to leave her there.
